Juicer Energy is building a full-service EV-charging business for apartment buildings, hotels and commercial properties. Rather than selling a property owner a charger and leaving the rest to contractors, the Seattle-area startup says it can assess a site, secure permits, install and manage equipment, bill drivers, monitor performance and maintain the system. That model addresses a real deployment problem, but public evidence still does not establish how many sites Juicer operates, how much revenue it generates or whether its economics work at scale.
The problem Juicer is targeting
People who live in single-family homes can often install a charger where they park overnight. Apartment residents, hotel guests and workplace drivers usually cannot. Property owners must contend with electrical capacity, utility coordination, construction, permitting, network connectivity, payments, repairs and disputes over parking spaces.
Those tasks become harder when several vehicles charge at once. A site may need a panel or transformer upgrade, trenching, fire-code review and an operating system that allocates power and bills different users. Drivers then face practical complaints about unavailable stalls, confusing prices and unreliable equipment. A Harvard Business School study cited by GeekWire documented those broader reliability, pricing and availability frustrations; it was not a validation study of Juicer.

What Juicer sells
Juicer’s customer is the property owner or operator, while tenants, guests, employees and other drivers are the end users. The company’s website describes an “end-to-end” service that includes:

Juicer also markets proprietary hardware, software and a driver app. Its property-owner pitch is that charging can become a managed amenity—and potentially a source of parking or charging revenue—without the landlord assembling and supervising every vendor.

How the business model works
In the model described by GeekWire, Juicer sets charging rates with landlords, collects an initiation fee when a driver starts a session, charges a recurring fee for each active charger and shares charging revenue with the property owner. This makes Juicer an infrastructure operator with an ongoing relationship at each site, not merely a hardware manufacturer.
The arrangement can reduce the owner’s management burden, but the contract determines who bears the expensive risks. A prospective customer should obtain written terms covering:

- Hardware ownership and what happens if the contract ends
- Electricity costs, payment-processing fees and software charges
- Revenue-sharing percentage and price-setting authority
- Minimum term, renewal and early-termination fees
- Responsibility for vandalism, collision damage and replacement parts
- Performance remedies if chargers repeatedly fail
Juicer does not publish universal dollar pricing. Utilization is also decisive: a property with few EV drivers or poorly located stalls may produce little charging revenue even if the equipment is technically sound.
The technology: useful ideas with important limits
Load management
Juicer says its system distributes a property’s available electrical capacity among connected vehicles. That can help avoid or defer a major service upgrade, but it does not create new capacity. When many cars charge simultaneously, each may receive less power and take longer. Owners should request the maximum site load, allocation rules and expected charging performance at peak occupancy.

Swappable hardware
Juicer’s website says its “Big Green Box” uses swappable chargers and claims downtime can be reduced to as little as five minutes. That is a company claim, not an independently measured result. Ask whether the figure excludes travel time, diagnostics, payment-system outages and planned maintenance, and whether replacement modules are stocked locally.
Connectivity and the driver app
Juicer’s driver page describes scanning a QR code to begin a session and tracking charging data in the app. GeekWire reported that charging did not require Wi‑Fi or cellular connectivity. That phrase needs a precise technical definition: it might describe local session initiation, not a system that never needs a backend connection for authentication, payment authorization, pricing or records.

GeekWire’s 2025 profile focused on Level 2 installations. The current charger mix, connector types and DC-fast-charging availability should therefore be confirmed for each property rather than inferred from either description.
Deployment promises and site constraints
GeekWire reported Juicer’s target of moving from assessment to installation in 30 days, with physical installation often taking one day and roughly 10 chargers installed at a property. These are reported operating figures, not guarantees. Timelines can expand because of utility capacity, transformer or panel work, trenching, permitting, property access, hardware supply, fire-code review and accessibility requirements.
Level 2 charging fits apartments and hotels where cars remain parked for hours. Fleets, taxis, highway users and other high-turnover operations may need DC fast charging, which has different electrical and economic requirements.

Founder, team and funding
Nick Huzar cofounded Juicer and serves as CEO. He previously cofounded OfferUp and stepped down as that marketplace’s CEO in 2021, according to GeekWire. The company’s infrastructure focus applies marketplace experience to a fragmented service problem: coordinating many participants and making a complicated transaction easier for users.

It identified Goutham Sukumar as cofounder and CTO and former CEO of NitroDesk, which was acquired by Symantec. Juicer’s own about page presents a newer leadership and investor lineup, so titles should be checked directly when signing a contract or evaluating the company.
GeekWire reported about $7 million in backing in April 2025 and named Spencer Rascoff, Michael Ovitz, Kevin Hartz, Gautam Gupta, Colin Hathaway, Jon Gelsey and Bill Fishel among the investors. Juicer’s LinkedIn profile later listed a $7.2 million round dated August 8, 2024. Those figures are not a complete, independently verified financing history; the discrepancy is best treated as an attribution issue until the company provides a definitive round breakdown.

The 2025 profile described installations in the Seattle region and plans to expand. Later recruiting signals referenced sales territories in the Northwest, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Hiring indicates an expansion effort, not completed deployments in those markets. Public company listings also mention Bellevue- and Redmond-area locations, so “Seattle-area” is more precise than treating Seattle as a confirmed current headquarters.
Juicer’s current website remains active, promotes property-owner inquiries and lists its operating stack. Those signals, along with the 2026 app update, suggest continuing commercial activity. They do not establish the number of live properties, installed ports, charging sessions, revenue, profitability or geographic coverage.

How to evaluate Juicer against alternatives
Owners should compare the operating responsibility, not just the charger’s advertised power.

Established providers such as ChargePoint and EV Connect, and hardware suppliers such as Wallbox, are comparison points rather than proof that one approach is cheaper or better. Compare who owns the equipment, who controls data and pricing, whether other networks can roam onto the chargers, and who funds repairs over a 10-year property horizon.
The evidence Juicer still needs to provide
A serious assessment should request a site-specific proposal and measurable operating data:
- Live properties and installed ports by market
- Average utilization, sessions and energy dispensed per port
- Uptime measured per port and per site, with exclusions and remedies
- Average deployment time and cost, including utility upgrades
- Revenue per charger, electricity cost and expected payback
- Customer retention, renewals and referenceable deployments
- Capital required from the owner and from Juicer
- Portability of hardware, data and payment records if the relationship ends
- Cybersecurity, data retention, accessibility and insurance terms
Juicer’s homepage advertises “99% guaranteed uptime,” but no independent validation was identified. Before relying on that number, define whether uptime is calculated per connector, site or network; whether planned maintenance and payment failures count; the measurement period; and the remedy available to the owner. The same discipline applies to the company’s “as little as five minutes” replacement claim and any cost or availability superlatives.
