Short answer: In a U.S. promotion reported on February 10, 2025, Samsung kept elevated trade-in values for the Galaxy S25 series after preorders and added the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro to its eligible-device list. The reported maximums toward an S25 Ultra were $550 for a Pixel 9 and $650 for a Pixel 9 Pro. Those were conditional purchase credits, not cash offers—and they are historical figures, not a verified current deal.
The promotion did not include every Pixel 9 model: the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold were excluded from the reported expansion. Samsung’s U.S. trade-in page now features S26-related offers, so check the live quote and terms before deciding what to buy or send in.
What Samsung changed—and what “higher than ever” meant
Samsung made two changes reported on February 10, 2025: it kept strong Galaxy S25-series trade-in values available after the preorder period, and it expanded eligibility beyond Pixel 8-series phones to include the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. The figures came from a U.S. promotion; they should not be read as a worldwide offer or as a current price list. 9to5Google’s report described up to $900 toward an S25 Ultra for selected trade-ins, compared with a reported $750 maximum toward the S24 Ultra during its previous preorder period. That comparison was about selected devices and the non-folding Galaxy S series—not an all-time record across every Samsung product or market.

Reported Pixel and Galaxy trade-in values
These were maximum advertised credits in the February 2025 report. Actual offers could vary with the exact model and condition.

A Pixel 9 Pro therefore had a reported maximum $100 higher than a Pixel 9 toward the S25 Ultra, and $50 higher toward the standard S25. The S25+ and Ultra credits were different, too. Compare the credit for the Galaxy model you actually want; do not use the Ultra’s maximum to estimate the price of an S25 or S25+.
Which Pixel 9 models qualified?
The reported expansion covered the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. It did not list the Pixel 9 Pro XL or Pixel 9 Pro Fold. “Pixel 9 series” can sound broader than the eligible list, so select the exact model in Samsung’s current trade-in questionnaire rather than assuming a related variant qualifies. Eligibility lists and promotional values can change.

How to decide whether the credit makes the Galaxy worthwhile
The largest credit was toward the S25 Ultra, but that does not automatically make it the cheapest or best-value choice. The Ultra also has a higher purchase price and a larger body, along with its own camera and S Pen features. Start with the net cost of the phone you would genuinely choose:
Effective Galaxy cost = purchase price − trade-in credit − separate instant discounts + taxes, fees, financing costs, and any required plan costs
Then compare that cost with what you could realistically get for the Pixel in a private sale, the cost of buying the Galaxy without trading in, and any carrier offer available to you. A private sale may bring in more or let you spend the proceeds anywhere, but requires listing the phone, handling payment and shipping, and accepting the associated buyer and fraud risks. A Samsung trade-in is more convenient, but its anticipated credit depends on inspection.

Include non-price costs as well. A move from Pixel to Galaxy can affect your app and software habits, backups, accessories, watch compatibility, and camera preferences. If you are happy with Pixel-specific features, a generous headline credit alone may not justify switching.
What can change or cancel a trade-in quote?
Samsung’s U.S. program terms set condition and ownership requirements; the exact rules shown with a particular order govern. A device may receive less than the headline maximum—or no credit—if it fails the applicable criteria. Samsung’s general terms say an eligible device must power on, hold a charge, and have a functioning display, among other requirements. Physical damage, display or charging faults, battery issues, liquid damage, and the exact model can affect eligibility or value.
- Cracked screen or other damage: Do not assume a damaged Pixel qualifies. A cracked-device value applies only if the live quote expressly offers that promotion for your exact model and purchase.
- Account and security locks: Google Factory Reset Protection and other anti-theft locks must be disabled as required. A factory reset alone may not be enough if an account lock remains.
- Financing or lease: Samsung’s U.S. FAQ says leased devices are not eligible unless purchased from the carrier first; a device with an outstanding installment balance generally needs to be paid off. Confirm your carrier’s payoff and ownership status before trading it in.
- Model selection: Choosing the wrong Pixel variant in the questionnaire can produce a quote that does not match the device you send.
Check the quote displayed at checkout and retain a screenshot showing the selected model, condition answers, and credit. That is a useful record, not a guarantee that the inspection will confirm the quoted amount.

Preparing and shipping the phone
For Samsung’s current U.S. process, customers generally have 15 days after receiving the new device to send the trade-in. Missing the deadline can result in Samsung charging the payment method for the anticipated credit. Terms can vary by promotion, so use the deadline in your order confirmation.
- Back up the Pixel and transfer anything you want to keep before erasing it.
- Factory-reset the phone, remove personal information, sign out of relevant accounts, and disable Google Factory Reset Protection and other anti-theft locks as required.
- Remove the SIM and any memory card. Samsung warns that cards sent with a trade-in may not be returned.
- Confirm that the device is paid off and owned by you, and check the order’s instructions for required accessories. Include an S Pen where required for a trade-in device that came with one.
- Photograph or record the phone’s condition and that it powers on, then keep the shipping label, tracking details, and drop-off receipt.
- Package one device per trade-in label and ship it by the order’s deadline.
Samsung says responsibility for personal information left on a shipped phone remains with the customer. Its U.S. trade-in FAQ covers reset, account, SIM, and memory-card precautions.

If Samsung rejects the trade-in
Under the current U.S. FAQ, if Samsung determines the device does not qualify, you generally have a seven-day window to request its return. Requesting the phone back reverses the trade-in credit: Samsung says it charges back the trade-in value. Check the notice and your order for the precise deadline and instructions.

If Samsung accepts the device after inspection, it becomes Samsung’s property and cannot be reclaimed. Sending back the new Galaxy afterward does not restore an accepted trade-in. Keep the inspection email and shipping records, and act promptly if you receive a rejection notice.
Samsung trade-in, carrier promotion, or private sale?

Compare the final dollars, not just the headline figures. A carrier offer spread over many bills is not equivalent to an upfront Samsung discount if you must keep a qualifying plan or installment agreement. Verify the carrier’s current terms independently before treating its advertised total as savings.
Is this a current S25 offer?
No current S25/Pixel 9 value is established by the February 2025 report. Samsung’s accessible U.S. trade-in page now features Galaxy S26-related offers, including an advertised maximum toward the S26 Ultra, rather than confirming the old S25 amounts. See Samsung’s live trade-in page and the quote in checkout for the current offer. If buying in 2026, compare any live S25 deal with the current-generation price and credit; do not budget around the historical $550 or $650 Pixel values unless Samsung independently displays them for your order.
