Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series helped lift the company’s mobile business in 2025, but it did not cause Samsung Electronics’ company-wide revenue records. Samsung attributed higher second-quarter mobile revenue and operating profit to robust Galaxy S25 sales alongside Galaxy A-series phones and tablets. The later record quarters were driven mainly by semiconductors, especially memory products.
What Samsung actually reported
Samsung’s clearest S25-related disclosure came with its second-quarter 2025 results, announced on July 31, 2025.
The company said its Mobile eXperience (MX) and Networks businesses generated KRW 29.2 trillion in revenue and KRW 3.1 trillion in operating profit. Samsung attributed year-over-year growth to robust sales of the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy A-series phones and tablets.
That is meaningful evidence that the S25 launch strengthened Samsung’s mobile results. It is not evidence that S25 sales produced a company-wide revenue record, however. Samsung combines its mobile operations with much larger businesses, including memory, chip design, foundry, displays, appliances and Harman.

Why “record revenues” is misleading without a quarter
Samsung Electronics reported KRW 74.6 trillion in consolidated revenue and KRW 4.7 trillion in operating profit in Q2 2025. Revenue was down from KRW 79.14 trillion in Q1, when operating profit was KRW 6.69 trillion.
In other words, Q2 was a stronger year-over-year period for the mobile business but not a company-wide quarterly revenue record. The S25 helped one important division while Samsung’s overall result reflected the performance of several unrelated businesses.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 family at the start of 2025 and promoted differentiated Galaxy AI experiences as a central part of the flagship strategy. In its Q1 presentation, Samsung said MX sales and profit grew after the S25 launch.

The Q2 results showed the normal effect of launch timing: smartphone shipments declined from Q1, when the new models had launched. Even so, MX revenue and operating profit increased year over year. Samsung said the S25, A-series phones and tablets together supported that improvement.
This distinction matters. A sequential decline after a flagship launch does not necessarily mean the product performed poorly. The comparison is between a launch quarter and a later quarter, while the year-over-year comparison measures performance against the same period a year earlier.
Samsung also cited efficient resource management and maintained double-digit profitability in MX. Higher mobile profit therefore cannot automatically be assigned entirely to S25 unit sales. Product mix, pricing, promotions, component costs, marketing and operating discipline can all affect profit.

Samsung’s Q4 2025 results provide the clearest counterexample to the original headline. Samsung reported record quarterly revenue of KRW 93.8 trillion and record operating profit of KRW 20.1 trillion. The company’s explanation centered on the Device Solutions division, including memory products, high-bandwidth memory and favorable memory pricing.

For the full year, Samsung reported KRW 333.6 trillion in revenue and KRW 43.6 trillion in operating profit. Those figures reflect the combined performance of the entire company, not the Galaxy S25 alone.
Samsung reported another all-time quarterly revenue high in Q2 2026: KRW 171.5 trillion in revenue and KRW 89.5 trillion in operating profit. Samsung again identified Device Solutions and memory as the principal drivers. Mobile revenue grew year over year through Galaxy S26 and A-series sales, but DX sales declined sequentially. The S25 was no longer the central flagship explanation for that result.
How to interpret the numbers as an investor
Revenue is not the same as product sales
Samsung’s reported revenue is recognized by the company under its financial reporting practices. It is not the same thing as consumer sell-through at retail, shipments into distribution channels or preorder volume. Samsung described S25 sales as robust, but the official disclosures cited here do not provide a specific S25 unit total.

MX and Networks is not smartphone revenue alone
The KRW 29.2 trillion figure combines Samsung’s MX and Networks businesses. It should not be described as smartphone revenue. The figure includes mobile devices and network equipment, and Samsung separately identified A-series phones and tablets as contributors.

Year-over-year growth and sequential growth answer different questions
Samsung’s Q2 mobile business could grow year over year while smartphone shipments fell from Q1. The launch quarter created a difficult sequential comparison, while the year-over-year comparison benefited from the S25 launch cycle and the broader product portfolio.
Corporate performance is highly sensitive to chips
Samsung’s semiconductor operations can overwhelm the financial effect of its phone business. A strong flagship launch may improve MX revenue and profit without materially changing consolidated results when memory pricing, chip demand or foundry performance move in the opposite direction.

Samsung’s second-half 2025 strategy remained flagship-focused, with foldables and the S25 series supported by additional AI features in the A series. By Q3, Samsung was also discussing the Galaxy Z Fold7 and broader flagship sales, as well as seasonal promotions for AI smartphones including the S25.
That makes it inaccurate to treat the S25 as the sole explanation for all later mobile growth. Samsung’s results reflected a portfolio that included premium phones, foldables, mid-range A-series devices, tablets and network equipment.

What this means for someone considering a Galaxy phone
The earnings data confirms that the S25 family was commercially important to Samsung’s mobile division, but it does not by itself establish that the S25 was Samsung’s best-selling Galaxy generation or that it offers the best value today.
As of 2026, buyers should compare the S25 with the newer Galaxy S26 family, especially when the two generations have similar prices. The S25 Ultra may make sense for buyers who specifically want Samsung’s largest flagship, highest-end camera system or S Pen-related features. The S25 Edge is more relevant to buyers prioritizing thinness and weight, while the Galaxy A series is generally the more appropriate category for mainstream users who do not need flagship hardware.
Actual out-of-pocket cost depends on region, storage, carrier terms, trade-in value and promotions. Current offers should be checked through Samsung’s official store rather than inferred from launch pricing.

The precise conclusion
The accurate version of the claim is narrower: Samsung said robust Galaxy S25 sales helped increase its mobile revenue and operating profit in Q2 2025, alongside A-series phones and tablets. That success should not be confused with Samsung Electronics’ later company-wide revenue records, which were driven primarily by semiconductors and memory.
For financial readers, the S25 was an important mobile-business contributor—not the principal reason Samsung reached its biggest consolidated revenue and profit figures.
