That means the headline’s $1,100 figure is inconsistent with the body’s stated breakdown. “Up to $800” applied only to the highest qualifying trade-in valuation. Samsung determines trade-in values by device, condition, promotion, inventory, and other offer terms. A lower-value phone would produce a smaller credit.
Samsung’s trade-in requirements generally require the device to power on, hold a charge, and have a functioning display. It must not be prohibited by the applicable terms, blacklisted, account-locked, or left with software locks enabled. The phone must also be factory-reset before shipment.
The trade-in risk matters
The value shown at checkout is not necessarily final until Samsung receives and evaluates the old phone. If the device fails the promotion’s requirements, Samsung may reduce or reverse the credit under the applicable terms.

Before sending a trade-in, protect yourself by:
- Photographing the phone from every angle and recording any existing damage.
- Removing Samsung and Google accounts and disabling device locks.
- Factory-resetting the phone only after backing up your data.
- Keeping the shipping receipt, tracking number, and delivery confirmation.
- Saving the order details and the trade-in terms shown at checkout.
Also compare Samsung’s credit with what you could earn by selling the phone independently. A private sale may produce more money, but it usually takes more time and adds buyer, payment, and shipping risks.
What you were buying
The Galaxy S24 Ultra was Samsung’s flagship phone for 2024. It used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, included a 200MP primary camera, and had a built-in S Pen. Samsung launched it in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB configurations, with U.S. pricing starting at $1,299.99.
Those specifications help explain the phone’s appeal, but they do not by themselves prove that the promotion was a good purchase. Is the deal still available?
Status: The cited promotion ran in November 2024. It should not be confused with Samsung offers available in 2026. The original article remains online, but its historical terms and prices should not be treated as a live promotion.
Samsung’s current offer pages state that eligible devices, trade-in values, and promotional amounts change over time. A current Samsung buying-guide page may still display an S24 Ultra price, but that does not prove that the old Black Friday discount, the 512GB configuration, or the same inventory remains available.
Check Samsung’s current offers page and the actual Shop Samsung checkout before making a purchase. Do not rely on the old $369.99 figure unless it appears in the current order summary.
When the promotion would have made sense
With a high-value trade-in
The deal was most attractive to an existing Samsung owner with a qualifying, high-value phone in good condition. In that best-case scenario, the reported price was $369.99 before tax and other charges.

Without a trade-in
The $300 markdown was simpler because it avoided inspection and chargeback risk. However, the out-of-pocket price was materially higher than the reported trade-in price. Buyers should compare that amount with current prices for newer models and certified renewed phones.
With a damaged or low-value phone
A cracked display, liquid damage, account lock, blacklist status, or other eligibility problem could sharply reduce the credit or eliminate it. In that situation, the headline discount was not a realistic expectation.
Against a carrier promotion
A carrier may advertise a larger nominal credit, but that credit can depend on installment billing, a qualifying plan, a new line, or monthly bill credits. Compare the total service cost, unlock policy, cancellation consequences, and required term—not just the advertised phone discount.

- Check whether the offer is limited to the Shop Samsung app or a Samsung account.
- Verify the trade-in value for your specific device and condition.
