Yes, some Samsung products are already more expensive, but there is no verified blanket increase across every Galaxy phone and computer. In the United States, the Galaxy S26 and S26+ launched about $100 above comparable Galaxy S25 models, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra kept a $1,299.99 starting MSRP. Samsung’s Galaxy Book6 launch pricing and its own earnings guidance also show real cost pressure. Further increases are possible, but Samsung has not announced a company-wide retail hike.
Prices and promotions below are U.S. figures available through August 16, 2026, before sales tax. Samsung, carriers and retailers can change promotions, inventory and financing terms.
Which Samsung phone prices have actually increased?
Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists the following launch prices. These are list prices, not necessarily what a customer pays after a trade-in, carrier credit or Samsung promotion.

Samsung’s official MSRP document is available at Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. price sheet. The base S26 and S26+ were widely reported as $100 higher than equivalent S25-generation models, although storage tiers changed, so comparisons must match capacity. The S26 Ultra’s $1,299.99 starting MSRP matches the S25 Ultra’s starting MSRP; that does not mean every Ultra storage tier or sale price is unchanged.

Samsung’s current S26 Ultra page lists $1,299.99 for 256GB, $1,499.99 for 512GB and $1,799.99 for 1TB before promotions. Samsung also advertises direct discounts and trade-in credits on its Galaxy S26 page. A temporary sale is not evidence that the underlying MSRP or component cost stayed flat.
Have Galaxy Book laptop prices gone up?
Samsung announced U.S. availability for the Galaxy Book6 series on March 11, 2026. Launch pricing began at $1,599.99 for the Galaxy Book6 Pro and $2,449.99 for the Galaxy Book6 Ultra, according to the Samsung U.S. newsroom announcement.

Samsung’s store subsequently displayed Book6 configurations from roughly $1,349.99 to $3,599.99, depending on model, screen, processor, RAM, SSD, graphics and promotion. Those figures cannot establish a single percentage increase. Secondary reporting described some equivalent Book6 Pro and Ultra configurations as about 20% more expensive than the prior generation; that comparison is configuration-specific, not a universal Book6 surcharge. How to make a fair laptop comparison
- Match screen size, resolution and panel type.
- Match processor class and graphics capability.
- Match RAM and SSD capacity.
- Include warranty, software bundles and promotional status.
A Book6 with 32GB of RAM, a larger SSD or a faster NPU can cost more because it is a different specification, even if the product name looks similar to a discounted Book5.

Why are Samsung devices under price pressure?
Samsung’s July 30, 2026 results for the quarter ended June 30 provide the clearest current evidence. The company reported record memory performance and said industry-wide memory prices were rising. It also said AI infrastructure was increasing demand for server DRAM, enterprise SSDs and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), while supply remained constrained. Samsung expected elevated component costs and soft consumer demand to continue in the second half of 2026. Read the Q2 2026 results.
What the components do
- DRAM and LPDDR: working memory used by phones and laptops.
- NAND: flash storage used for phone and computer files.
- HBM: high-bandwidth memory used mainly in AI accelerators and data centers.
- Processors and NPUs: chips whose cost can rise with more advanced manufacturing, packaging and on-device AI capability.
AI is therefore an indirect market driver, not proof that AI alone caused the S26 increase. More RAM, storage, processing capacity, cooling and software development can raise a device’s bill of materials. Samsung publicly emphasized product improvements for the S26; outside reporting also connected the increase with memory shortages. The evidence supports a mixed explanation, not a single confirmed cause.

Why Samsung’s memory business does not shield its phones
Samsung’s semiconductor and device divisions have different economics. The memory business can benefit when scarce chips command higher prices, while the mobile and PC businesses face higher market-based costs or an opportunity cost when those chips could be sold to server customers. Samsung’s earnings release confirms that memory was strong while device businesses faced elevated component pressure; it does not disclose the internal transfer price for each phone.

Possible, but not confirmed as a blanket increase. Continued memory constraints, Samsung’s own warning about second-half component costs and the S26 and Book6 pricing provide a credible case for further pressure. They do not establish a date or amount for the next retail increase.

What a future increase could look like
- Higher launch MSRPs on selected models.
- Fewer free storage upgrades or lower RAM at an unchanged starting price.
- Smaller trade-in credits, preorder bonuses or direct discounts.
- Higher prices on premium configurations while mainstream models remain stable.
Weak consumer demand, carrier subsidies, older inventory and competition from Apple, Google, Motorola, Lenovo, HP and others could limit Samsung’s ability to raise headline prices. User reports about possible foldable increases are not an official Samsung price announcement; no specific future Fold price should be treated as confirmed.
What this means if you are buying a Galaxy phone
Buy now when the net price is strong
- You need a replacement within the next one to three months.
- A Samsung or carrier promotion provides an unusually large trade-in or storage credit.
- You want high storage and would be hurt by a future configuration cut.
- The financing offer has acceptable terms and does not require an unsuitable carrier plan.
Wait when flexibility is more valuable
- Your current phone works and you can compare the next launch cycle.
- Current discounts are weak.
- You are open to a discounted S25, a certified refurbished model, a Galaxy A-series phone or another Android brand.
Compare the cash price with the real net cost. A carrier credit may be spread over monthly bills and can disappear if you cancel service; check payoff, damage, unlocked-device and line requirements. Also compare Samsung’s instant trade-in credit with the amount you could receive by selling privately.
What this means if you are buying a Galaxy Book
For laptops, configuration inflation is often more important than the product name. A new model may include 32GB instead of 16GB RAM, a larger SSD, a faster processor or NPU, a better display or more cooling. An AI-PC label alone does not prove better value for browsing, office work and streaming.

Check discounted Galaxy Book5 inventory against an equivalent Book6 configuration. Samsung’s Book5 store page can show clearance pricing, but availability changes. Include the total financing cost, APR, warranty and software bundle rather than comparing monthly payments alone.
A practical checklist before you purchase
- Record the dated Samsung MSRP and current promotional price.
- Match RAM, storage, processor, screen and graphics across generations.
- Compare Samsung direct pricing with the carrier’s total installment cost.
- Read trade-in conditions, including payoff, damage and cancellation rules.
- Check older-generation and certified-refurbished inventory.
- Confirm regional model, warranty and network compatibility.
- Calculate cash price, number of payments, APR, required service and tax.
Bottom line for 2026 buyers
Samsung has already passed some cost pressure into new products: the base Galaxy S26 and S26+ launched higher than comparable S25 models, and Galaxy Book6 launch prices are substantial. Samsung’s memory business and Q2 outlook indicate that component pressure is genuine. The most realistic forecast is not an automatic increase on every Samsung device, but a mix of higher launch prices, less generous configurations and weaker promotions. Buy when the dated net price meets your needs; wait when your current device works and the promotion is ordinary.
