Short answer: Samsung was reported to lead India’s smartphone market by value in Q3 2024, with a 23% share, while its Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 received limited-period festive prices of ₹1,44,999 and ₹89,999. Those were October 2024 promotional prices—not current offers. As of August 18, 2026, Samsung’s India pages show the models as unavailable or “Coming back soon,” so shoppers should verify stock, warranty and terms rather than rely on an old indexed deal.
What “Samsung dominates” actually meant
The headline came from a Gizmochina report published October 31, 2024. Citing Counterpoint Research, it said Samsung held 23% of India’s smartphone-market value in Q3 2024, its third consecutive quarter as the value leader.

That is not the same as selling 23% of all phones shipped. Value share measures the rupee value of sales; unit share measures the number of devices sold. Premium brands can lead value share while another brand sells more handsets. The same report said total market value rose 12% year over year and unit volume rose 3%.
Samsung’s reported advantage reflected a broader portfolio: premium Galaxy S phones, Galaxy AI marketing, and A-series devices reaching the mid-range and affordable-premium segments. Festive inventory preparation and retailer stocking also supported the quarter, although the season reportedly started more slowly than the previous year. The evidence does not show that the Fold6 or Flip6 alone caused Samsung’s market leadership.

These figures were described as limited-period festive promotions. The report did not establish an exact closing date, storage or colour eligibility, retailer participation, bank exclusions, processing fees or stock limits. Treat them as reported historical prices, not guaranteed prices for every configuration.
Was Galaxy Z Assurance included?
The festive report said Galaxy Z Assurance was reduced to ₹999, from previously listed prices of ₹14,999 for Fold6 and ₹9,999 for Flip6, and described up to two claims per year. Samsung’s official July 2024 launch announcement separately confirmed a ₹999 pre-order offer covering two screen/parts replacements.
Those descriptions should not be treated as identical. Coverage may depend on whether the purchase was a pre-order or open-sale transaction and on the applicable terms. Check exclusions for accidental or liquid damage, hinge and other parts, labour, claim limits and eligibility. A ₹999 enrollment price does not by itself prove that every buyer received unlimited or identical protection.

For Indian pre-orders opened July 10, 2024, Samsung announced:
- ₹8,000 HDFC Bank cashback or an ₹8,000 upgrade bonus;
- up to nine months of no-cost EMI;
- a ₹15,000 upgrade bonus for existing Samsung flagship owners; and
- Galaxy Z Assurance with two screen/parts replacements for ₹999.
Sales were scheduled to begin July 24. Samsung later reported that first-day pre-orders were 40% higher than for the previous generation. That is a Samsung-reported launch metric, not an independently audited market-share result. Samsung also said the phones were manufactured at its Noida facility.
Fold6 or Flip6: which type of buyer benefited?
Galaxy Z Fold6
Fold6 is the phone-tablet hybrid. Samsung lists a 19.32 cm internal display, 15.89 cm cover display, 50MP wide camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, 10MP telephoto camera and a 4,400mAh typical battery on its India materials. It suits buyers who will regularly multitask, read or work on the larger screen. At ₹1,44,999, the discount was meaningful but did not make it a conventional value purchase; bulk, high repair exposure and the need to protect the folding display remain.
Galaxy Z Flip6
Flip6 targets portability and style. It folds into a compact shape, supports Flex-mode hands-free photography and costs substantially less than Fold6 at the reported festive price. It is easier to justify for buyers who value pocketability and a foldable experience, but it offers less workspace and generally places greater emphasis on compactness than maximum battery or productivity.

For either model, the ₹20,000 reduction does not remove ownership risks. Flexible displays, hinges and other specialised parts can be expensive outside applicable protection or warranty coverage.

No current availability should be assumed. As of August 18, 2026, Samsung’s Fold6 purchase page and Flip6 purchase page do not show the old festive prices as active offers; the Flip6 page indicates “Coming back soon.” The pages may still surface exchange, Samsung Care+, Samsung Finance+ and Assured Buyback tools, but eligibility and prices depend on the selected model, location and account details.
Checklist before buying old or remaining stock
- Confirm the exact Indian model, storage, colour and whether the unit is new, open-box or refurbished.
- Ask whether the discount is instant or requires a bank cashback claim, and check processing fees on “no-cost” EMI.
- Recalculate exchange value after inspection and confirm the applicable PIN code.
- Read the current Galaxy Z Assurance or Samsung Care+ terms, including damage exclusions and claim limits.
- Obtain an Indian GST invoice, Samsung warranty confirmation and the seller’s return or replacement policy.
- Do not rely on a stale search result: verify live stock and the final checkout price on Samsung or an authorised retailer.
Verdict
The 2024 promotion was genuine and attractive on paper: ₹20,000 off each phone and advertised 24-month no-cost EMI. Flip6 was the more accessible choice for portability-focused buyers; Fold6 made sense mainly for people who would use its large internal display every day. But Samsung’s 23% figure described market value, not unit shipments, and neither the market-share claim nor the festive pricing establishes a current 2026 deal. Buy only after confirming live availability, variant-specific terms, warranty and protection coverage.
