Which version is the best deal?
64GB Wi‑Fi: cheapest sensible entry point
Buy the 64GB model when it is roughly $140–$160 new and your use is mainly streaming, browsing, reading, children’s apps and a few casual games. It has less internal room for downloaded video and large games, but microSD expansion can hold media and files. A cited Best Buy configuration has 4GB of RAM, so check the model number rather than assuming every 64GB listing has identical memory.

128GB Wi‑Fi: best overall value when near $200
The extra internal storage leaves more room for apps, games and offline content. At about $200, it is the safer recommendation for students, families sharing one tablet and buyers who do not want to manage a memory card. At approximately $270, the value is much weaker and a newer tablet may make more financial sense.
256GB: pay for it only if capacity is the priority
A $319.99 example is difficult to justify unless you keep many large games, videos or files locally. Since the A9+ supports microSD, consider a lower-capacity model plus a card—but remember that removable storage is not equivalent to faster internal storage for every app or game.
What the A9+ delivers for the money
- Display: An 11-inch 1920×1200 panel with up to a 90Hz refresh rate. Scrolling and split-screen work feel smoother than on many low-cost tablets, but this is not an OLED or premium HDR screen.
- Audio: Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, useful for shows, calls and family viewing.
- Storage: microSD expansion is supported. Confirm the exact capacity and RAM on the listing.
- Performance: Suitable for video streaming, web browsing, email, reading, video meetings, Google Docs, Microsoft Office and light multitasking. It is not a good choice for demanding 3D games, heavy video editing or sustained professional workloads. Do not generalize performance between 4GB and higher-RAM versions.
- Battery: Samsung promotes long battery life, but actual runtime depends on brightness, applications, network use and the model. Do not treat “fast charging” language as a guaranteed charging speed or assume a particular charger is included.
- Family features: Samsung Kids is preinstalled and Samsung promotes parental controls. Still configure Google Family Link, purchase authentication, app permissions, content filters and screen-time limits yourself.
- Connectivity: Wi‑Fi versions need local Wi‑Fi or a phone hotspot away from home. Optional 5G models require compatible hardware and usually a carrier plan or activation; an inexpensive Wi‑Fi listing is not comparable to a cellular tablet.
Deal checklist: avoid a false discount
- Record the exact price, storage, RAM, color and model/SKU.
- Confirm it is new, not open-box, refurbished or marketplace-sold.
- Check whether the seller is Samsung, the retailer itself or a third party, and read the return policy.
- Verify Wi‑Fi versus 5G and whether activation or a data plan is required.
- Look for trade-in, membership, coupon, financing or carrier conditions.
- Check shipping, pickup availability and taxes for your ZIP code; search-result prices may disappear at checkout.
- Calculate the complete cost: case, screen protector, charger, keyboard, stylus, microSD card and (for cellular models) monthly service.
Retailers may compare a sale with MSRP, a previous price or a “comparable value.” A displayed percentage-off figure does not prove that price was the normal street price. Promotional covers or book covers can also be time-limited rather than permanently included.

Who should buy the Galaxy Tab A9+?
It fits a streaming tablet, family device, children’s apps, web research, PDF reading, online classes, email, video meetings and casual gaming. A Bluetooth or dedicated keyboard can support light writing, but accessories cost extra. Verify stylus compatibility and included items instead of assuming an S Pen is bundled.
Who should skip it?
Choose something else if you need intensive gaming, professional creative software, a stylus-first note-taking device, an especially bright or high-resolution/OLED display, or a clearly defined long-term software-support policy. Also skip it when a newer Samsung tablet is only slightly more expensive, or when adding a keyboard, case, charger and cellular service pushes the total into midrange-tablet territory.
Alternatives to compare by category
At a high A9+ price, check newer Samsung budget models for potentially better longevity, Fan Edition tablets for stronger performance and stylus-oriented work, Amazon Fire tablets for a cheaper but different app ecosystem, and Lenovo or other Android tablets for larger screens or different specifications. Compare each model’s current price, software support, warranty and included accessories rather than relying on brand-level assumptions.

Make the decision configuration-specific. A new 64GB Wi‑Fi A9+ around $140 is a compelling family and media tablet; a 128GB model around $200 is the better all-purpose buy. Near the $220/$270 reference prices, the discount is no longer doing enough work, and newer competition deserves a fresh comparison. Is 64GB or 128GB better?
Choose 128GB when the premium is modest—around $200 is a strong target. Choose 64GB at about $140 for streaming and family use, using microSD for media.
Does every Galaxy Tab A9+ have 5G?
