A Slickdeals page records a $799.99 Amazon price for a new, unlocked 256GB S24 Ultra on August 11, 2025. That is historical context, not proof of a live August 2026 offer (Slickdeals). Price-history pages have recently shown Amazon Renewed 256GB examples around $509–$550, but colors, sellers and conditions differ (Pricehistory).
Why the S24 Ultra can still be compelling
The S24 Ultra remains a premium phone: a large high-resolution display, titanium construction, a versatile camera system, strong performance, a large battery and an integrated S Pen for notes, editing and remote-control features. It is capable for everyday work, gaming, photography and productivity.
Its age matters in 2026. Newer Galaxy Ultra models may have a newer processor, more efficient battery performance, updated image processing and a longer remaining software-support runway. Paying near-new flagship money for an older device makes less sense when a current model is close in total cost.

Is the discount genuinely large?
Use the right benchmark
Samsung’s U.S. December 2024 MSRP file lists the 256GB S24 Ultra at $1,299.99 and the 512GB version at $1,419.99 (Samsung MSRP file). These are launch-era reference prices, not the phone’s August 2026 market value. A claimed saving should instead be compared with the same storage, color, condition and seller in recent history, plus tax, shipping, accessories and any protection plan.
Compare refurbished offers fairly
Samsung’s official U.S. Certified Re-Newed page lists an unlocked 256GB S24 Ultra, although its current price and stock can change (Samsung Certified Re-Newed). Samsung says these phones use genuine Samsung parts, receive a brand-new battery and include a one-year manufacturer warranty (Samsung Newsroom). An Amazon Renewed phone should be substantially cheaper to justify the additional uncertainty.

New, Samsung Certified Re-Newed and Amazon Renewed are not the same

A genuinely new U.S. unlocked unit should include the expected original accessories and carry the applicable manufacturer coverage. Confirm that “new” applies to the selected variation, not merely to another option on the page.
Samsung Certified Re-Newed
Samsung describes its program as a Samsung-refurbished product using genuine parts, a new battery and a one-year manufacturer warranty. It usually costs more than third-party renewed inventory, but reduces battery and parts uncertainty.

Amazon Renewed
Amazon says Renewed products are inspected, tested, cleaned and refurbished as needed by qualified suppliers. Cosmetic grades can include Premium, Excellent, Good and Acceptable, and accessories may be compatible replacements rather than original Samsung items (Amazon Renewed information). Unless the listing expressly guarantees a new battery, assume battery health is unknown.
Check the Amazon listing before buying
- Select the intended storage and condition, then read the price for that exact variation.
- Expand “Other sellers on Amazon” and compare seller, fulfillment, condition and returns.
- Confirm the model number identifies a U.S. version, not an international or “global” import.
- Check whether the price requires a clipped coupon, Prime membership, trade-in, carrier activation, bundle or financing account.
- Read recent one- and two-star reviews for battery health, screen burn-in, camera focus, S Pen failures, missing accessories, blacklisted IMEIs and region locks.
- Screenshot the price, seller, condition and model details, then note the return deadline immediately after delivery.
Unlocked does not automatically mean compatible
Verify the exact model’s bands and certification for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as your MVNO. Check support for 5G, eSIM, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. International models can have different bands, firmware, warranty coverage and carrier behavior even when the title says “unlocked.” If you use Visible, Metro, Cricket, Mint or another MVNO, confirm compatibility with that carrier before ordering.

A newer Samsung Ultra
Choose the current-generation Ultra when the price gap is small and you prioritize the newest processor, camera processing and longest support runway. Use the actual August 2026 price rather than assuming the older phone is automatically cheaper.
Galaxy S24 FE or another lower-priced Galaxy
The S24 FE can reduce the upfront cost if you do not need the Ultra’s cameras, S Pen or premium construction. Samsung’s cited MSRP file lists historical reference prices of $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB; those are not verified current sale prices (Samsung MSRP file).
Bottom-line buying decisions
- Cheapest path to an Ultra: Consider Amazon Renewed only when the discount is substantial, the model is U.S. unlocked and the return process is clear.
- Need a new phone: Reject listings where “new” applies only to another variation or where the seller cannot document condition.
