Yes—but not necessarily for every Rogers customer or every part of a TV-and-internet bundle. Customer notices reported a $7-per-month increase plus tax to the internet-package fee, applied on the first bill issued on or after March 23, 2026. Some customers reported a $10 increase or a later effective date when a promotion or guaranteed-rate period ended. Check your own bill and contract before assuming the change applies to you.
What the March notice actually changed
The notice described by MobileSyrup referred to the monthly fee for the internet package, cited network investment as the reason, and stated that the increase would appear on the first bill issued on or after March 23, 2026.
That wording is narrower than “the whole bundle went up by $7.” Your bill can contain separate lines for:
- the underlying internet package;
- TV packages and premium channels;
- modem, gateway or TV-box rentals;
- bundle discounts and promotional credits;
- taxes; and
- the “thereafter” price that applies after a promotion ends.
A $7 change on the internet line can therefore produce a different increase in your total payment, especially if a credit expired at the same time.

Why customers saw different amounts and dates
There is no verified evidence that every Rogers customer received the same adjustment. Reports varied by plan, region, former Shaw territory, TV configuration and contract status. Separate reporting described $10 increases for some customers. Other notices said an active discount or guaranteed rate would remain until its stated end date.
That means all of these outcomes are possible:

Former Shaw customers and customers whose service is included through a condominium or rental arrangement may also have different billing terms. Business accounts should not automatically be treated as consumer accounts.
How to audit your Rogers bill
- Open the detailed bill for the first billing period beginning on or after March 23, 2026. The bill’s issue date and your service period are not always the same.
- Compare the internet-package line with the immediately preceding bill.
- Record the change before tax, then calculate the tax-inclusive difference.
- Check the TV, equipment and other-fee lines separately.
- Look for a promotional credit that disappeared or changed, and for the post-promotion “thereafter” price.
- Read the bill’s “Important messages” or notice pages, not only the email saying a bill is ready.
- Keep the bill, original order confirmation and any increase notice.
The Rogers Xfinity name change did not itself raise prices: Rogers says existing services and prices were unchanged as part of the branding transition. A new charge should therefore be traced to a bill line or contract term, not automatically blamed on the Ignite-to-Xfinity rebrand. See Rogers’ explanation of the rebrand.

If you are under a contract or promotion
“Under contract” is not a complete answer. Rogers offers can apply a monthly credit for a fixed term against a higher thereafter price; the Rogers TV terms illustrate that structure. A bill increase may therefore be the end of a credit rather than a mid-term change to the advertised service price.
Read the agreement for:
- the exact duration of every credit;
- the regular or thereafter price;
- any guaranteed-rate wording and which services it covers;
- equipment or installation obligations; and
- the consequences of removing only TV, home phone or a box.
The CRTC’s Internet Code says providers must not change key contract terms without informed and express consent, while setting notice rules for permitted changes. It does not mean every line on every bill is frozen, nor does it make every promotion immune from expiry. Whether Rogers could make a particular change depends on the signed offer and the component that changed.
Can you cancel without a penalty?
The March increase does not automatically make every Rogers cancellation free. Check whether you are cancelling internet, TV or only part of a bundle; whether a term remains; and whether equipment or another subsidy must be repaid. Consumer and business agreements can differ.

CRTC Telecom Regulatory Policy 2026-43 took effect on June 12, 2026 and prohibits specified activation, modification and cancellation fees that act as barriers to switching internet and cellphone plans. The federal summary is available here. Those rules do not establish that the $7 price change itself was unlawful or erase every contractual charge.
The CRTC later opened a proceeding about certain new fees from Bell, TELUS and Rogers and sent Rogers an information request. Those documents concern possible switching-barrier fees, not a final ruling that Rogers must reverse the March increase: compliance proceeding and Rogers staff letter.
Ways to lower the bill before switching
- Ask Rogers for its current internet-only price and a retention offer.
- Ask whether removing TV preserves the internet discount; sometimes dropping one service removes a bundle credit.
- Request the offer and every discount’s expiry date in writing.
- Return unused rented equipment only after confirming that it can be removed, and keep the receipt or tracking confirmation.
- Compare the post-promotion price, not just the first-month price.
Dropping TV is worthwhile only after adding up replacement costs. Include standalone streaming subscriptions, sports services, equipment, taxes and any lost bundle discount. Rogers says its Xfinity TV service can bundle internet with access to certain streaming apps, so removing TV may also remove included benefits; review the current terms.

When switching makes financial sense
Use a total-cost comparison rather than an advertised headline rate:

Check availability at your exact address and compare upload speed, reliability, equipment requirements and repair arrangements. Bell, TELUS, TekSavvy and VMedia may be suitable alternatives where available, but network technology and pricing vary by location. An independent ISP may use a wholesale access network, so it is not automatically a different physical last mile.

If you switch, install the replacement service before cancelling Rogers when possible. Confirm the cancellation date, return all rented equipment and retain proof.

How to dispute an unexplained charge
- Save the affected bills, notice and contract.
- Contact Rogers and ask which exact line changed and why.
- Request a supervisor and a complaint reference number; ask for the explanation in writing.
- If unresolved, contact the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) when the matter falls within its mandate.
Future CRTC rules add enhanced notification requirements on April 13, 2027 and self-service cancellation or modification mechanisms on April 26, 2027. Those dates do not apply retroactively to a March 2026 notice: notification rules and self-service rules.
Bottom line
The reported March increase was genuine for at least some Rogers customers: $7 plus tax on the internet-package fee, beginning with the first bill on or after March 23, 2026. It was not verified as a universal $7 increase to every TV-and-internet bundle. Your plan, region, promotion and contract determine the amount and timing, so audit the bill line by line before cancelling or accepting a new offer.
