Rogers does offer Canada+U.S. plan options that let eligible customers use their plan’s talk, text and data in the United States without a daily Roam Like Home charge. However, Rogers’ public plan listings do not clearly show a standard consumer plan called “175GB Canada/U.S.” Reports of 175GB plans priced around $40–$45 per month appear to concern targeted, win-back, employee, partner or otherwise unpublished offers—not a universally available national plan.
Before accepting one, verify the exact plan name, whether the 175GB allowance works in both countries, every price credit and the treatment of other lines on your account.
What Rogers officially confirms
Rogers’ Canada+U.S. plan FAQ says customers can select the Canada+U.S. option when opening a plan or changing an existing line in MyRogers. Under the stated terms, the line can use its plan data in the U.S. without a daily roaming fee. Calling, texting, picture messaging and video messaging between Canadian and U.S. numbers are included while the customer is in either country.

Rogers also says that removing Canada+U.S. from a line prevents that same line from having the feature reactivated for 12 months. That restriction makes changing plans a decision to document carefully.
What is—and is not—verified about “175GB”

Rogers’ public plan page currently shows different products, including 5G+ Essentials with 100GB and time-limited U.S./Mexico access, and 5G+ Popular with unlimited high-speed data and U.S., Mexico and Caribbean access for a stated promotional period. Those products should not be treated as the reported 175GB promotion.

How to check whether your account qualifies
- Open MyRogers and select the wireless line you want to change.
- Choose the option to change or explore the mobile plan.
- Look for “Canada+U.S.” and record the exact data allowance, monthly price and destination list.
- Check whether the price depends on Auto-Pay, Rogers Internet or TV, multiple lines, BYOD status, a win-back offer or an employee/partner affiliation.
- Save a screenshot or obtain the offer in writing before accepting it.
- Request the updated Service Agreement and a first-bill estimate.
Ask Rogers these precise questions:
- Is the 175GB allowance usable in Canada and the U.S. from one shared monthly bucket?
- Is there a separate U.S. roaming or high-speed cap?
- What happens after 175GB—is data slowed, blocked or billed separately?
- Is hotspot/tethering included, and does it have its own limit?
- Are calls from Canada to U.S. numbers included, and what calls remain chargeable?
- Are Mexico, the Caribbean or any other countries included?
- Which credits expire, and what is the price after each one ends?
- Will changing plans remove device financing, trade-in credits or other promotions?
What the price really means
A quoted $40 or $45 can combine several separate elements. Compare the full monthly cost, not just the headline number.

Rogers’ province-specific availability can vary, so check the local mobility page as well as your personalized MyRogers offer.

175GB plan versus Roam Like Home
For occasional travel, paying only when you roam may cost less than a permanent Canada+U.S. upgrade. Rogers currently lists U.S. roaming at $16 per day, with passes of $25 for three days, $50 for seven days, $60 for 14 days and $80 for 30 days on its roaming page.
A permanent Canada+U.S. plan becomes more attractive when you cross the border regularly, spend weeks or months there, or need predictable billing. For example, a $40 monthly premium over a Canada-only plan would equal roughly two and a half $16 roaming days; the correct break-even point depends on your actual base-plan difference, taxes and credits. Compare the incremental monthly cost—not the entire bill—with the travel charges you would otherwise incur.

Important traps and exclusions
Every line must be checked
If only one family line has Canada+U.S., another line can still incur U.S. roaming or long-distance charges. Do not assume shared data means shared roaming eligibility.

Rogers says customers can still incur Roam Like Home charges in eligible destinations outside the U.S. Mexico and the Caribbean are included only when the specific plan says so.

175GB may not equal 175GB in the United States
Do not infer a separate 175GB U.S. allowance from the number in an advertisement. Confirm whether Canada and U.S. use draw from one bucket, whether roaming has a smaller limit, and what speeds apply after the allowance. Rogers’ general unlimited-plan guidance cannot automatically be applied to a finite 175GB promotion.
Network performance varies
U.S. service depends on the partner network, local coverage, congestion, device compatibility and available 5G access. “Included” means no daily U.S. roaming charge under the plan terms, not a guarantee of a particular speed or signal.
Satellite is not ordinary cellular data
Rogers announced expanded U.S. satellite-to-mobile access through Rogers Satellite and T-Mobile’s T-Satellite network for certain eligible plans. The announcement describes messaging and satellite-ready applications, not normal high-speed broadband. Do not assume a 175GB offer includes it unless the agreement identifies an eligible plan family.

Who should consider it?
- Frequent border traveller or snowbird: potentially worthwhile if the written price is durable and the U.S. allowance is adequate.
- Occasional vacation traveller: compare the $16 daily rate and Travel Passes first.
- Global traveller: seek a plan with explicitly broader destination coverage.
- Heavy hotspot user: verify tethering limits and post-cap speeds in writing.
- Customer with device credits: calculate the cost of losing financing or trade-in promotions before switching.
Before you accept: final checklist
The agreement should identify the exact plan name, 175GB amount, countries included, roaming-data treatment, high-speed and hotspot limits, base monthly price, every promotional-credit expiry, price-change rules, activation-fee treatment, device-financing impact and the lines eligible for Canada+U.S.
Bottom line: Rogers’ Canada+U.S. feature is real, but the reported 175GB/$40–$45 deal is not clearly a universal public plan. Treat it as a targeted offer until Rogers confirms your account’s terms in writing. It is most compelling for regular U.S. use; occasional travellers should price the daily and multi-day roaming alternatives first.
