Rituals disclosed in April 2026 that attackers gained unauthorized access to and downloaded part of its My Rituals membership database. The potentially exposed information may include names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, dates of birth and gender. Rituals says passwords and payment information were not accessed.
The company has not disclosed how many members were affected or which countries were involved. The main immediate risk, based on the information currently reported, is targeted phishing and social engineering—not direct payment-card theft.

What Rituals confirmed
Rituals said it identified unauthorized access to part of the My Rituals membership database and that data was downloaded. Reports said the activity occurred earlier in April 2026, with the breach publicly reported on April 23.

According to SecurityWeek and BleepingComputer, Rituals said it took steps to stop the unauthorized access, considered the incident contained, began a forensic investigation, notified relevant authorities and contacted affected members directly.
“Contained” describes Rituals’ current assessment; it does not establish how the attackers got in, whether the investigation is complete or whether copied data was deleted.
What information may have been exposed?
Rituals’ notice reportedly said the affected data may include information members had provided to the company:

The wording matters. These are categories that may have been involved, not a confirmation that every affected member’s record contained every field or that every My Rituals member was affected.
Were passwords or payment details exposed?
Rituals says passwords and payment information were not accessed. On the facts currently disclosed, there is no breach-specific reason to assume that attackers can log directly into My Rituals accounts or charge customers’ cards.
That does not eliminate risk. Contact and demographic information can make fraudulent messages more convincing, and a customer may face separate exposure if they reused a Rituals password on another service.

How many customers were affected?
The number of affected people is unknown. Rituals has more than 40 million My Rituals members, but that is the size of the membership base—not the number of people confirmed or believed to be affected by this incident.
Rituals has not publicly disclosed:
- The number of affected members
- A complete list of affected countries
- Whether all My Rituals accounts were exposed
- Whether inactive or former members were included
- Whether the data came from one region, platform or the wider membership system
BleepingComputer reported that some customers in the United States had been notified, but that does not establish a complete geographic scope.
What remains unknown?
The available reporting does not establish:
- How attackers obtained access
- How long the unauthorized access lasted
- Whether a vulnerability or stolen credential was involved
- Whether the entire membership database was accessed
- Who was responsible
- Whether ransomware or extortion was involved
- Whether the downloaded data was published or sold
Rituals said it was not aware of the stolen information being publicly available at the time of the initial reports. That does not prove the information was deleted or will never appear elsewhere. No known ransomware or extortion group had claimed responsibility in that initial coverage.
What My Rituals members should do
- Be suspicious of unexpected messages. Watch for fake reward notices, birthday offers, delivery alerts, account-verification requests and messages claiming to be from Rituals support.
- Do not use links in unsolicited emails or texts. Open the Rituals website or official app manually instead.
- Never provide a password, payment detail or verification code in response to an unexpected message. Correct personal details do not prove that a message is genuine.
- Change reused passwords elsewhere. Rituals says its passwords were not accessed, but any password reused on another service should be replaced there. Use a unique password for each account.
- Protect your email account. Enable multifactor authentication where available. Email access can allow criminals to reset passwords on other services.
- Monitor accounts and statements normally. Payment-card replacement is not indicated by Rituals’ statement that payment information was not accessed, but continue watching for suspicious activity.
- Contact Rituals through an independently verified channel. Ask whether your account was affected and which specific data fields were associated with your record. Do not rely on contact details supplied in an unsolicited notification.
Is a password reset or card replacement required?
Not based on the currently disclosed facts. Rituals says passwords were not accessed, so a mandatory Rituals password reset is not supported by the available reporting. Change any reused password on the other services where it was used.
Rituals also says payment information was not accessed. That means the breach disclosure alone does not indicate that customers need to cancel or replace their cards. Contact your card issuer if you observe suspicious transactions or receive separate evidence that payment data was involved.

A combination of a person’s name, address, phone number, email address, birthday and other profile information can help a criminal create a believable pretext. A message might claim that a loyalty reward is expiring, a shipment needs confirmation or an account requires verification.

Those details should be treated as clues that an attacker may know something about you—not as proof that the sender is Rituals. Verify through a channel you opened independently, and do not send money to “restore” rewards or deliveries.
What to watch for next
The risk assessment could change if Rituals publishes any of the following:
- A confirmed number of affected records
- A country-by-country notification list
- Technical details about the access method or duration
- Evidence that the data was publicly disclosed
- A threat-actor claim or extortion demand
- Additional affected data categories
- New remediation, monitoring or customer-support measures
For now, the verified picture is narrower than some breach headlines may suggest: unauthorized access and download of part of a My Rituals membership database, possible exposure of personal and contact information, and company assurances that passwords and payment information were not accessed. The number of affected members and the full technical scope remain undisclosed.
