Revolut Mobile is a UK eSIM-only phone plan with unlimited UK data, calls and texts, plus 20GB of monthly roaming data in the US and covered European destinations. Its standout feature is that US allowance; it is not unlimited roaming worldwide. The plan runs month to month, but the price depends on when you joined: eligible customers who signed up by 31 July 2026 can retain £12.50 a month until further notice, while customers joining after that date pay £14.99 a month. Whether it is good value depends on your phone, Vodafone coverage where you live and how much data you use abroad.
What Revolut Mobile is—and what it is not
Revolut Mobile is a full mobile plan: it comes with a phone number and domestic calls, texts and data. That makes it different from Revolut’s travel eSIM, which is a separate, primarily data-only product for trips. Revolut introduced that travel eSIM in 2024; it lets customers buy destination-specific data plans, but it does not replace a normal UK mobile subscription with calls and texts. Revolut is not building or operating its own UK radio network. The mobile plan is provided by Gigs using Vodafone infrastructure. It is more accurate to think of it as a partner-powered mobile service than as a new nationwide network owned by Revolut. The price is date-sensitive. Customers who joined during the introductory period by 31 July 2026 can retain £12.50 per month until further notice. New customers joining after that date pay £14.99 per month, according to Revolut’s current UK information. The earlier price should not be treated as the standard rate for someone signing up now. Check the live offer and terms in the app before ordering, since a rolling contract does not guarantee a price for all future customers. Revolut’s help page gives the plan and pricing details.

Why the roaming offer stands out—and where it stops
Twenty gigabytes each month in the US as well as covered European destinations is the plan’s clearest differentiator. It can be useful for maps, messaging, ride-hailing, browsing and occasional hotspot use without buying a separate travel data plan for each qualifying trip.
But 20GB is a cap, not unlimited international data. Regular video streaming, frequent laptop tethering or heavy remote work can use it quickly. When the allowance is gone, you may need Wi-Fi, another eSIM or an in-app data add-on. Revolut’s help information says additional data plans can be purchased through the app and that only data add-ons are currently offered.
Do not read “Europe” as every country on the continent. Revolut’s public plan page refers to 30 EU countries, while help and contract material use EEA language alongside the US. Those definitions are not interchangeable: a country can be in Europe geographically without being included in the plan’s roaming zone. Check the current country list in the app or plan terms before you travel, and do not assume Switzerland is covered merely because it is in Europe.

Voice and text allowances abroad are also limited. The stated 50 roaming minutes apply to calls made while in covered destinations to covered destinations, and the separate 50 international minutes cover calls from the UK to covered destinations. The 100-message allowance applies to roaming and international texts within the relevant covered areas. These are not unlimited roaming calls and texts; premium-rate, special-service or otherwise excluded numbers may not qualify. Confirm the applicable rules in the current plan terms.

Outside the included roaming zone
Revolut lists a Messaging Pass for use outside the main EEA/US roaming zone. The contract summary describes at least 250MB of roaming data at an estimated maximum speed of 16 Kbps. That is a severely restricted connection intended for basic text-based messaging, not normal browsing, video, navigation or work. Treat it as an emergency connectivity option, not a worldwide data plan. The UK contract summary sets out the specification.
What “unlimited” means in practice
The advertised unlimited allowance applies to UK domestic data, calls and texts—not the 20GB roaming allowance. Domestic use is still subject to acceptable-use or fair-use terms, so “unlimited” should not be read as permission for abuse or use outside normal consumer patterns. Revolut also advertises a maximum speed of 100 Mbps. That is a ceiling, not a promise of a constant 100 Mbps connection, and unlimited volume does not mean unrestricted speed.
The service advertises 4G and 5G access on Vodafone infrastructure, with actual performance depending on local Vodafone coverage, indoor signal, congestion, phone and supported bands. Abroad, availability also depends on roaming partners and local conditions. These are provider claims, not independent comparative test results: the advertised details do not establish that Revolut Mobile is faster or has better coverage than another UK operator.

Check your phone before switching
The plan is eSIM-only. You need an unlocked, compatible phone with eSIM support; a handset that accepts only a physical SIM cannot use this plan as offered. Device compatibility and the number of eSIM profiles a phone can store vary by model.

If your phone supports dual SIM, you may be able to keep a physical SIM from another provider active alongside the Revolut eSIM—for example, to retain another number while assigning mobile data to Revolut. Check your phone’s settings and manufacturer guidance before relying on a particular dual-SIM configuration.
How to sign up and activate
- Update the Revolut app and open it.
- Go to RevPoints, then select Mobile.
- Choose the plan and complete the purchase.
- Install and activate the eSIM by following the app’s prompts.
- Choose to transfer your existing number or take a new one.
- If needed, set the Revolut eSIM as your phone’s preferred line for mobile data.
Revolut says the plan activates after purchase and eSIM installation. App labels or availability can vary by account and app version. If “Mobile” is missing, update the app, check the RevPoints area and confirm your account is in the UK; if it still does not appear, check Revolut’s current availability information or contact support. Do not confuse the full Mobile plan with the separate travel-data eSIM section.
For a number transfer, keep your old SIM or eSIM active until the port is confirmed. Check that the account-holder details match the information supplied for the transfer, and do not delete the old eSIM prematurely. If staying reachable matters more than keeping your number immediately, choosing a new number may be simpler; a port can take longer, and mishandling it can interrupt service.

If the eSIM installs but data does not work, confirm that the Revolut line is enabled and selected for mobile data, that data roaming is enabled for that line when needed, and that the plan is purchased and installed. Check local coverage, then try restarting the phone or selecting a network manually if the handset allows it. Exact menus differ between devices. Who is most likely to find it worthwhile?
- Frequent UK–US travellers: The monthly US roaming allowance may be valuable if you can stay within 20GB and your destinations are covered.
- Europe travellers who also visit the US: The combination is more distinctive than a plan whose travel benefit is limited to European roaming, but verify the country list before relying on it.
- Light-to-moderate roaming users: Maps, messaging and ordinary browsing are a more natural fit than high-volume video or daily laptop tethering.
- Revolut customers who value app-based management: A single customer-facing app and a rolling contract may be convenient; any listed RevPoints use toward the bill depends on the current offer and terms.
It is a weaker fit if you need a physical SIM, own a phone without eSIM support, regularly exceed 20GB abroad, travel mainly outside the included zone, or need specialist business, family, smartwatch or multi-device features that the plan does not explicitly confirm. It may also be a poor choice if Vodafone coverage is weak at home or if your overriding priority is the lowest possible domestic-only price.
How to compare it with other options
A conventional UK SIM-only plan may offer physical SIMs, different network choices, or more established family and multi-line options. Its roaming allowance and charges depend on the specific tariff. UK customers should not assume that EU roaming is automatically surcharge-free: after Brexit, the applicable terms are set by each operator. GOV.UK’s roaming guidance explains this.
A separate travel eSIM may be better for a short trip, a destination outside Revolut Mobile’s included roaming zone, or a traveller who wants to keep an existing UK plan and number while adding data temporarily. When comparing tariffs, look beyond the headline monthly price: check the post-promotion rate, US inclusion, roaming data cap, country list, tethering, fair-use wording, network coverage at home, physical SIM availability and whether the price is introductory or ongoing. Without current, verified competitor tariffs, there is no sound basis to name a cheapest or best alternative.
Bottom line
Revolut Mobile is most compelling for an eSIM-compatible UK customer who regularly visits the US or covered European destinations, gets adequate Vodafone coverage and can keep roaming data below 20GB a month. It is not a worldwide unlimited-roaming plan, nor a universal replacement for a UK SIM: the eSIM-only requirement, capped overseas data and price change after the introductory period are central to the decision.
