Signify, the company behind Philips Hue, announced on June 24, 2025, that it would raise prices across its U.S. Hue portfolio starting July 1, citing tariffs. The announcement did not include a complete product-by-product schedule, so there is no supported single percentage for the increase across all Hue products. As of August 18, 2026, the available Signify statements do not establish a new Hue-specific tariff hike.
What Signify announced—and when
Signify said the price changes would cover its U.S. Philips Hue portfolio and take effect July 1, 2025. The company described the increases as a “direct result of tariffs” and reserved the right to adjust prices again if new or additional tariffs took effect. Hueblog reported the statement; Engadget also covered the announcement.
This was a U.S.-specific announcement, not confirmation that prices rose by the same amount in Europe, the U.K., Canada or Australia. Signify is the company responsible for Hue; Royal Philips is a separate, Philips-branded healthcare company. Signify identifies Hue among its consumer lighting brands in its 2026 product announcement.

How much did Hue prices rise?
Signify did not initially publish a full SKU-by-SKU price list, and the available reporting does not support a portfolio-wide percentage. A reported U.S. example is the Hue Smart Button: its price moved from about $24.99 to $31.99, or roughly $32—an increase of about 28% for that comparison. Notebookcheck reported the figures.

That example is not a clean measure of tariff costs across the range: the newer Smart Button was a revised model, so differences in hardware or features may also matter. Nor does the example show that every Hue product rose by 28%. Contemporary reports also described a 25% promotion ahead of the effective date, but that was a historical offer, not a current discount or proof that every product’s regular price changed by the same amount. 9to5Google covered the promotion.
Why tariffs can affect the shelf price
Tariffs are generally paid by the importer of record, not handed directly to a foreign government by the shopper or necessarily absorbed by the manufacturer. A company can absorb some or all of the added cost, pass it through to wholesale or retail prices, reduce promotions, change sourcing, or combine those responses. Signify attributed the Hue changes to tariffs, but that statement does not reveal the tariff amount embedded in any particular product’s price.

The available reporting does not establish each Hue item’s country of origin, customs classification or applicable duty rate. Those details can vary by product and require SKU-specific customs evidence; the U.S. International Trade Commission’s tariff information is a reference for classification, not evidence of a particular Hue product’s rate. It is therefore not accurate to say that a tariff added a fixed dollar amount to every bulb or accessory.
What the later price announcements do—and do not—show
Signify’s September 2025 Hue portfolio announcement listed North American launch MSRPs for new products, including Essential A19 bulbs at $24.99–$59.99 depending on pack size, a Hue Bridge Pro at $98.99, and Essential starter kits from $79.99. These are dated launch prices, not a verified August 2026 live price list or a before-and-after schedule for the July increase. Retailer prices and promotions can differ. On June 16, 2026, Signify announced new Hue Play table and floor lamps and next-generation candle bulbs with Matter compatibility, saying they would become available in the U.S. during June through Hue and selected retailers. A new product’s launch price is not itself evidence of a tariff-driven increase to an existing product. The company’s announcement describes those launches.
Is another Hue increase coming?
Signify’s 2025 reservation of the right to change prices if further tariffs took effect means another adjustment was possible; it was not a schedule or promise to raise prices again. Signify’s July 24, 2026, results refer to targeted price increases and cost initiatives at the company level, but the release does not identify a new Hue-specific tariff increase or provide a new Hue price schedule. Should you buy Hue or consider another system?
Adding to an existing Hue setup
If you already own a Hue Bridge and value Hue’s accessories, automations or entertainment lighting, compare the retailer’s current price with the official listing and look for a genuine promotion. Check whether the product is a new generation and whether your intended features require a Bridge; some Hue products support Bluetooth, but feature limits depend on the model. The official Hue products page is the place to check current product availability and prices.

Compare the cost of the whole setup—bulbs, bridge or hub, switches and future replacements—not only one bulb. Hue may make sense if you will use its broader ecosystem; if you only need basic dimming or color, a less expensive system may be enough. Other systems suit different priorities. Govee offers a broad selection of ambient, strip and gaming lights; features and integrations vary by model. Nanoleaf focuses on decorative and modular lighting, so confirm the exact Matter and platform compatibility you need. IKEA’s U.S. smart-lighting category is another option for practical, budget-conscious setups, though availability, hub needs and compatibility depend on product and generation. Current prices for these alternatives are not established here, so check their official listings before comparing totals.
