The Air is an incremental update rather than a dramatic redesign, but that does not make it a poor deal. Its limitations are practical: the base storage can fill quickly, the display does not offer a high refresh rate, and two USB-C ports may be restrictive for a desk setup. Memory and storage should be chosen carefully because post-purchase upgrades are limited.
15-inch MacBook Air M4: more screen for $949
The 15-inch model was reported at $949, with a $250 discount. It is the better choice for spreadsheets, split-screen work, and media consumption because it provides more screen area, stronger speakers, and longer battery life than the smaller model. The trade-off is weight and portability.
For ordinary browsing, documents, video calls, and schoolwork, the Air is generally the more sensible purchase than the roughly $1,500 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 deal. HP OmniBook 5: OLED value
The 14-inch HP OmniBook 5 was reported at $529.99. Its combination of an OLED display, 1920×1200 resolution, long-battery-life positioning, and Snapdragon X1 Plus processor made it one of the most compelling value deals.
Its weakness is performance headroom. The base Snapdragon chip is better suited to everyday work than heavy multitasking, demanding creative software, or other sustained workloads. OLED improves contrast and image quality, but it does not guarantee high brightness or long battery life, and buyers who leave static content onscreen for long periods should consider image-retention risk.
Gaming laptop deals
HP Victus 15: best budget gaming option
The HP Victus 15 with an Nvidia RTX 4050 was reported at about $631, with a 144Hz display and more memory than earlier versions. It was the value-focused choice for 1080p gaming, particularly for shoppers who cared more about graphics performance than premium materials.
The Victus gives up refinement to reach that price. Expect a less premium chassis and potentially weaker display quality, speakers, battery life, and portability than the Asus or Razer alternatives. Retailer listings also differed in Intel versus AMD processors, so compare the complete SKU rather than relying on the Victus name alone.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14: best portable gaming choice
The ROG Zephyrus G14 paired a relatively thin chassis with an OLED display, strong input devices, and RTX 5060- or RTX 5070-class configurations. The reported RTX 5060 price was about $1,900.
It is a better fit than the Victus for someone who needs one computer for gaming, travel, and ordinary productivity. Thin gaming laptops, however, can compromise cooling, upgradeability, ports, or battery life. Check the exact GPU power limit and memory configuration; the GPU’s name alone does not determine gaming performance.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14

Start with the operating system
- Apple silicon: Best for buyers invested in macOS, iCloud, iPhone integration, and Apple software.
- Intel or AMD Windows: The broadest choice for software, games, drivers, and peripherals.
- Snapdragon Windows: Potentially quiet and efficient, but verify Arm compatibility for every important application.
- ChromeOS: Appropriate for browser-first work, school systems, and uncomplicated everyday computing.
Do not overlook RAM and storage
For a new Windows or macOS laptop intended to last several years, 16GB of RAM is a more defensible baseline than 8GB. Heavy creative work, virtual machines, large photo libraries, and serious multitasking may justify 24GB or more.

256GB storage is workable for cloud-first users but restrictive for games, video, and large photo collections. 512GB is a better general target; gaming and creative workloads are better served by 1TB or more. Thin laptops often use soldered memory or storage, making the original configuration especially important.
Evaluate the whole display
OLED is only one attribute. Confirm resolution, aspect ratio, brightness, color coverage, refresh rate, scaling, and touch support. A 144Hz panel can matter more to a gamer than OLED, while a 16:10 or 3:2 screen may be more useful to a productivity buyer than a 16:9 panel.
Check total ownership cost
Include the charger, hub or dock, external storage, mouse, headset, tax, shipping, warranty, and return restrictions. A tablet-style Surface Pro is not a complete laptop at its tablet price if you need its separate keyboard and stylus; the cited keyboard price was approximately $319.99.
