More than 230,000 people reportedly reserved the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro in China before its June 27, 2024 launch. A later report put the total at 231,500. That is a striking sign of pre-launch interest, but it should not be read as 230,000 completed purchases, shipped phones, or a verified industry sales record.
What the 230,000 figure actually measured
Contemporary reports said reservations had passed 230,000 between June 23 and June 26, 2024, ahead of the phone’s planned China launch on June 27. The reservations were described as registrations through OnePlus’s Chinese online store. One later report cited a more precise total of 231,500 pre-orders (ShiftDelete).
The wording matters. The available reports do not establish whether every reservation required a deposit, whether each represented a unique buyer, or how many reservations converted into paid orders. They also do not show cancellations, no-shows, shipments, or an independent audit. The defensible description is therefore “more than 230,000 reported reservations,” not “OnePlus sold 230,000 phones.”

Likewise, “breaking records” was largely a headline characterization. No source in the available reporting defines a comparison set—such as all OnePlus launches, the Ace series, Chinese Android phones, or the entire smartphone industry—so a formal industry record cannot be confirmed from the number alone.

Why the Ace 3 Pro generated so much interest
A 6,100mAh “Glacier Battery”
The phone’s main talking point was its advertised 6,100mAh Glacier Battery. Reports attributed the design to a silicon-based negative electrode intended to increase energy density without making the handset proportionally thicker. One report cited a battery thickness of about 5.51mm (ShiftDelete).
Coverage also reported 100W wired charging, a claimed full charge in approximately 36 minutes, and a claim of more than 80% capacity retention after four years. Those are manufacturer or launch-report claims, not independent long-term test results. Actual battery life depends on brightness, refresh rate, gaming, 5G reception, temperature, software, and the user’s charging habits.
A large battery can improve endurance, but it does not guarantee the longest runtime in every comparison. Fast charging is convenient, while heat, ambient temperature and charging behavior still influence battery aging.

Flagship-class performance
Pre-launch coverage listed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the flagship Android processor used in many 2024 performance phones. Reports also described configurations of up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage (Xiaomiui; ShiftDelete).
Readers should check the final Chinese retail SKU before treating “24GB RAM” as 24GB of physical memory. Phone makers sometimes combine physical RAM with virtual or memory-expansion storage in marketing descriptions. The Snapdragon chip and generous storage suggest a strong gaming and multitasking proposition, but specifications alone do not prove sustained performance, cooling quality, or battery endurance.
High-refresh-rate OLED display
Reports expected a roughly 6.78-inch OLED display with 1.5K-class resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a BOE S1 panel in some accounts, and an under-display fingerprint reader (GizChina). Several of these details were pre-launch or expected specifications, so buyers should distinguish early leaks from the final retail specification sheet.

A 120Hz panel can make scrolling and supported games feel smoother, but it can also consume more power than a lower refresh setting. The practical balance depends on the phone’s adaptive-refresh implementation and software optimization.

Pre-launch reports listed a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro camera and a 16MP front camera (Xiaomiui). On that reported hardware, the phone’s emphasis appears to be battery life and performance rather than a zoom-focused camera system. That is an analysis of the listed components, not an official OnePlus positioning statement.
China-first availability changes the buying decision
Contemporary coverage positioned the Ace 3 Pro for China, at least initially (GizChina). It should not be assumed to be the same product, software build or warranty package as a global OnePlus model.

Importers should verify the exact model number, supported LTE and 5G bands, seller warranty, return policy and software region. A China-market handset may use ColorOS rather than a global OxygenOS build, and Google services, language options, Android Auto, notifications, banking apps and bootloader policies can differ. Carrier compatibility and resale value may also be less predictable than with an officially sold local model.
For buyers who need guaranteed Google-service compatibility, local warranty support or carrier-band certainty, an officially supported global phone is usually the lower-risk choice. An import can make sense for an enthusiast who values the battery and performance package and accepts the software and support trade-offs.

Does 230,000 reservations make it a record?
It demonstrates exceptionally strong reported pre-launch interest in the Chinese market. The combination of a very large battery, 100W charging, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 silicon and high-memory options gave enthusiasts a clear reason to pay attention.
It does not, by itself, establish:
- 230,000 completed sales or shipments;
- the number of unique paying customers;
- profitability, market share or customer satisfaction;
- real-world battery life or four-year battery health;
- superiority over competing phones; or
- a verified industry-wide pre-order record.
The most accurate conclusion is narrower: reports said the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro had collected more than 230,000 reservations on OnePlus’s Chinese online store before launch. That is meaningful demand, but it is not an audited sales result.
