The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is already released, not an upcoming phone. Samsung announced it on September 26, 2024, and its global launch announcement said orders would begin on October 3, 2024. In the U.S., launch pricing started at $649.99 for the unlocked 128GB model, while the 256GB version was listed at $709.99.
Those are historical U.S. list prices—not a guarantee of the amount you will pay in 2026. Promotions, trade-in credits, carrier offers, taxes, accessories, refurbished stock and availability can all change the final cost.
Galaxy S24 FE release date: the official timeline
Samsung’s U.S. Newsroom officially announced the Galaxy S24 FE on September 26, 2024. That is the confirmed announcement date; earlier leaks and rumors should not be treated as the phone’s official release date.
Samsung’s global announcement said orders would begin October 3, 2024. However, that should not be interpreted as a universal in-store release date for every country. Availability, configurations, colors and timing varied by market.

“Release date” can therefore mean several different things: announcement, pre-order opening, order availability or retail availability. For the S24 FE, September 26 is the announcement date, while October 3 is the order date cited in Samsung’s global launch schedule.
Galaxy S24 FE price in the U.S.
Samsung announced U.S. pricing from $649.99. Samsung’s U.S. MSRP records identify two unlocked configurations:

The configuration prices come from Samsung’s U.S. MSRP price file. A later Samsung price file dated December 2025 continued to list the same figures, but MSRP is not the same as a live checkout price.

A retailer or Samsung promotion may reduce the price through an instant discount, trade-in credit, financing offer or bundle. Conversely, sales tax, shipping, activation charges and the separately sold charger can increase the amount you spend. Check the specific configuration and seller on Samsung’s official product page before buying.
Colors and regional availability
Samsung’s U.S. announcement listed the Galaxy S24 FE in:
- Blue
- Graphite
- Gray
- Mint
The global announcement also listed Yellow. That does not mean all five colors were sold in the U.S. Color availability can depend on country, retailer, online exclusivity and remaining inventory.

The same qualification applies to storage. The U.S. MSRP evidence supports 128GB and 256GB unlocked versions, but buyers in other markets should check the local Samsung site rather than assume both configurations were offered.
What buyers received for the launch price
The S24 FE was positioned as a lower-priced member of the Galaxy S24 family while retaining several features associated with Samsung’s higher-end phones. Its key specifications include:
- 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display
- Adaptive 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate
- Exynos 2400e processor
- 4,700mAh typical battery capacity, with a 4,565mAh rated minimum capacity listed by Samsung
- 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto rear cameras
- 3x optical telephoto zoom with optical image stabilization
- 10MP front camera
- Up to 25W wired charging
Samsung also announced seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. That means the support period is measured from launch, not from the day an individual buyer purchases the phone.
The charger is not included
Samsung specifies that the 25W power adapter is sold separately. Do not assume the box includes one unless a particular retailer bundle explicitly says so. Buyers who already own a compatible USB-C Power Delivery charger may not need to purchase another; otherwise, the adapter is an additional ownership cost. Samsung’s accessories catalog is available through its official accessories store.
Galaxy AI is not a blanket permanent-free promise
Samsung’s launch footnotes said Galaxy AI features would be provided free until the end of 2025 on supported Galaxy devices. That historical statement should not be rewritten as a guarantee that every AI feature is permanently free in 2026.

Is the Galaxy S24 FE still worth buying in 2026?
There is no single answer based on the original $649.99 price because the phone is now a 2024 model. The useful question is how its live price compares with newer or discounted alternatives.
The S24 FE makes sense when:
- Its current price is meaningfully below a comparable newer Galaxy phone.
- You want a large 6.7-inch AMOLED display and a dedicated telephoto camera.
- Samsung’s ecosystem and stated long-term update policy are important to you.
- You find a reputable unlocked or carrier offer with clear trade-in terms, warranty coverage and return rights.
Compare the regular Galaxy S24 when:
- The standard S24 is discounted to roughly the same price.
- You prefer a smaller phone.
- You value the regular S-series model’s compact design and flagship positioning.
Do not assume the FE is always cheaper. A clearance discount on the older standard Galaxy S24 can reverse the original price relationship. Compare equivalent storage, seller type, warranty, trade-in conditions and the final price after required plan or activation costs.
Check the newer Galaxy S25 FE first
Samsung’s later U.S. MSRP file listed the Galaxy S25 FE at $649.99 for 128GB and $709.99 for 256GB. Those list prices match the S24 FE figures in the cited Samsung records, making a live comparison particularly important. If the newer model is close in price, its newer platform and longer practical buying horizon may justify choosing it instead.

Verify current prices rather than comparing one phone’s MSRP with another phone’s sale price.
Costs and checks to make before buying
- Confirm the exact model: Check whether the listing is unlocked or carrier-specific and whether it has 128GB or 256GB of storage.
- Check the final checkout total: Include taxes, shipping, activation fees and any required service plan.
- Value trade-ins realistically: Separate an instant discount from a trade-in credit that requires a qualifying device and later inspection.
- Budget for charging: Confirm whether you already have a compatible charger because Samsung sells the 25W adapter separately.
- Compare current alternatives: Check the Galaxy S25 FE and discounted Galaxy S24 at the same time.
- For refurbished phones, inspect the terms: Warranty length, battery condition, return window, carrier compatibility and seller reputation matter more than the headline discount.
Bottom line
The official answer is straightforward: Samsung announced the Galaxy S24 FE on September 26, 2024, said global orders would begin on October 3, 2024, and set U.S. pricing from $649.99 for the 128GB unlocked model. The 256GB unlocked model was listed at $709.99.
In 2026, treat those figures as launch/list-price reference points. Buy the S24 FE only after checking its live price against the newer Galaxy S25 FE and discounted Galaxy S24, while accounting for promotions, trade-in conditions, regional availability and the extra charger cost.
