On April 23, 2025, Linktree announced a suite of creator-earning features that goes beyond a link-in-bio page: creators can sell digital products and courses, curate affiliate products, add sponsored offers, and potentially earn Rewards bonuses. The suite can simplify the path from a social profile to a sale, but it is not one universal wallet or a fee-free storefront. Availability, payout setup, and costs depend on which feature you use and where you live.
What Linktree announced
Linktree’s April 2025 rollout grouped several ways to earn under its Earn experience. It marked a shift toward creator commerce, not the invention of digital-product sales on Linktree: the company had previously supported a SendOwl-based workflow, while the new approach brought digital selling more directly into Linktree. The launch also added or expanded courses powered by Kajabi, affiliate Shops, sponsored links, and Rewards. TechCrunch reported at the time that Linktree had more than 70 million users; that figure was attributed to the company, not independently verified user data.
The key distinction is what the creator is earning from. A download or course is the creator’s own product. A Shop earns a commission when someone buys a third party’s product. A sponsored link pays only when a visitor completes the offer’s qualifying action. Rewards are conditional incentives, not dependable recurring income.
How each earning feature works

Linktree’s eligibility guidance is important: Shops, sponsored links, affiliate opportunities, and Rewards are identified as U.S.-only. Digital products and courses are available in a broader but still limited list of countries. Confirm your country and account eligibility before building a plan around any feature.
Digital products
Creators can list downloadable files, set a price, and direct visitors to checkout from their Linktree page. Linktree’s current guide says prices can range from $1 to $10,000 USD, or the local equivalent supported by the connected Stripe account. The customer receives access after purchase, and Linktree says it emails a receipt. For setup, use Linktree Admin → + Add → Digital Product, upload the files, enter the product details, choose the price and distribution settings, connect Stripe if it is a paid item, and publish. Courses powered by Kajabi
Linktree’s course workflow lets a creator build, customize, price, and sell a course through the Linktree Admin using Kajabi technology. Its product page also promotes AI-generated course outlines; that is a planning aid, not evidence that Linktree produces the substantive lessons for the creator. To create one, select + Add → Course, use the course builder to add lessons and supporting content, set it as free or paid, connect Stripe for paid enrollment, and publish the course link. Test payment and student access before sending traffic. Linktree’s documentation confirms the Kajabi-powered workflow, but it does not establish feature parity with a standalone Kajabi account. Shops and affiliate commissions
Linktree Shops let eligible creators curate products from participating retailers into a shop-style page. The April 2025 announcement named Target, Amazon, Lululemon, and Revolve; Linktree’s current product page refers to Amazon, Target, and thousands of other retailers. Catalog and offer availability can change. A creator receives a retailer- or offer-defined commission after a qualifying purchase, not the item’s full price. Where Linktree fees apply, they are calculated against the commission, not the customer’s whole order. The displayed commission in Linktree’s catalog already reflects Linktree’s share, according to its fee guidance.

These are brand offers a creator can add to their page. The visitor must complete the required action—such as buying something or signing up—for the creator to earn. Linktree currently documents commission after that action; do not assume an offer pays merely for being displayed or that every account receives click- or impression-based revenue. To add one, open Earn in the Admin, browse Sponsored links, review an offer’s requirements and payout details, select + Add, then publish it. Linktree allows up to three active sponsored links per account. Label promotional links clearly and follow applicable advertising-disclosure rules and the offer’s terms. Rewards
Rewards may offer cash bonuses for specified milestones, perks, or potential brand-collaboration opportunities. Eligibility and terms apply, and availability is currently identified as U.S.-only. Treat any bonus as contingent on program rules and milestones—not as a fixed payment or recurring revenue stream. Linktree describes the program on its Earn page and in its eligibility guidance.

Fees: compare the whole transaction
For direct digital-product and course sales, Linktree’s current documentation lists these Linktree transaction fees. Stripe payment processing is additional.

Linktree’s fee example for a $34.99 course assumes a typical U.S. Stripe card charge of 2.9% + $0.30. On that basis, its illustrative proceeds are $29.48 on Free, $30.53 on Starter or Pro, and $33.68 on Premium. These are Linktree’s example figures, not a universal payout promise: Stripe rates vary by country and payment method, and plan subscription costs also matter.

On a $100 direct sale before processing fees, the Linktree transaction fee alone is $12 on Free, $9 on Starter or Pro, and $0 on Premium. So compare the value of the fee reduction against Premium’s subscription cost and your expected sales volume; “0% Linktree fee” does not mean no cost. For partner earnings, Linktree says Free, Starter, and Pro may incur a Linktree fee, while Premium has no Linktree commission fee; Stripe’s fee table lists $0.25 per payout. The underlying affiliate commission, rather than the retailer’s full sale amount, is the relevant base. Check Linktree’s current fee schedule before relying on a calculation.
Two payout paths, not one shared balance
At launch, Linktree described a wallet consolidating creator income. Current help documentation calls the dashboard Earnings and distinguishes product revenue from commissions, with separate payout arrangements. It displays upcoming payout amounts, pending earnings, the next payout date, and revenue categories. Find it at Earn → Earnings, or select the dollar amount in the Earn tab on mobile.

- Digital products and courses: use a Stripe Standard account. Payout timing can be configured in Stripe as daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Shops, affiliate commissions, sponsored links, and Rewards: use Stripe Express, set up through Settings → Shop → Connect Linktree Payments. Commission payouts generally run monthly after eligibility requirements are met and the current $10 minimum threshold is reached.
Identity, business, bank, email, or tax-related details may be required during Stripe verification. Incomplete verification can leave earnings pending or prevent payout. If Earn is missing, check your country, feature eligibility, account status, and payout verification rather than assuming the feature is available to every Linktree user. Linktree is most compelling for a creator who already sends social traffic to a Linktree page and wants a simple route to a download, course, affiliate recommendation, or brand offer without assembling several tools. Its advantage is convenience: links, product discovery, checkout pathways, and earnings reporting sit in the same ecosystem.

That convenience is less valuable if you need deep storefront customization, inventory and shipping operations, recurring memberships, advanced course administration, or extensive control over checkout and customer data. Linktree’s course feature should not be mistaken for a full replacement for a dedicated course-business platform. For a business centered on sophisticated courses, Kajabi may be a more natural comparison; for ongoing patron support and fan memberships, Patreon is more directly oriented to that model. Beacons and Shorby are relevant link-in-bio alternatives, while a standalone store such as Shopify may suit physical-product catalogs and fulfillment needs. Compare current plan limits, fees, and country availability rather than choosing from feature lists alone; those details change.
Also consider platform dependence. If the Linktree page or a particular program is unavailable to your audience, or if terms change, the sales path can be affected. Creators with meaningful revenue should keep copies of product files and customer-support procedures, understand refund obligations, and avoid relying on a single partner program as the business itself.
A practical decision checklist
- Where is your audience and business based? Check feature eligibility; U.S.-only partner programs will not help creators based elsewhere.
- What are you selling? A download or simple course fits direct selling better than inventory-heavy physical commerce; affiliate links do not substitute for owning a product.
- What is your expected sales volume? Model Linktree’s percentage, Stripe processing, payout charges where applicable, and any plan subscription cost.
- How much control do you need? If you require a distinct brand storefront, subscriptions, advanced student management, or operational commerce tools, evaluate specialist platforms.
- Can you complete payouts? Confirm supported country, Stripe account type, identity checks, bank details, and tax information before launch.
- Have you tested the buyer experience? Run through checkout, receipt delivery, download or enrollment access, and customer contact details before promotion.
Current country lists, fees, and program terms can change. Verify them in Linktree’s feature eligibility page, fee documentation, and pricing page before committing to a setup.
