Yes, the physical titanium Apple Card can expire, and Apple provides a way to replace it. But Apple’s public support documentation does not clearly promise that every expiring card will be mailed automatically. If you rely on the physical card, check that you are looking at its expiration date—not the date for a different Apple Card number—and request a replacement through Wallet if needed.
First, check which Apple Card date is expiring
Wallet can show dates for different Apple Card credentials. The titanium card is the physical card you use where Apple Pay is unavailable. It has its own card number and expiration date, even though those details are not printed on the card. The virtual Apple Card number is used for online, phone and other Mastercard purchases. Apple Pay uses a separate, device-specific number. Their dates and details should not be assumed to match.
To check the titanium card’s date on iPhone:
- Open Wallet and tap Apple Card.
- Tap the card number icon and authenticate.
- Tap Additional Card Numbers.
- Find the titanium Apple Card entry and check its expiration date.
On iPad, go to Settings → Wallet & Apple Pay → Apple Card, open the Info tab, tap Card Information, then Additional Card Numbers. If the card number icon or menu is missing, Apple says to check that your device is running the latest operating-system version. Apple’s instructions for finding Apple Card numbers cover supported devices and labels.
Does Apple automatically send a replacement?
Apple confirms that an expired titanium card can be replaced and publishes steps for requesting one. Its public support page does not clearly say that every customer will automatically receive a replacement before expiration. So do not rely on an automatic shipment if you need the physical card: request one yourself or contact Apple Card support to confirm what applies to your account.

This distinction matters if you have seen reports that a replacement arrived without a request. Individual reports do not establish a universal policy. Apple’s documented process is to request a replacement for an expired or damaged card. See Apple’s current replacement instructions.
How to request a titanium-card replacement
On iPhone, open Wallet → Apple Card → More → Account Details. Scroll to Titanium Card, tap Request Replacement Card, and follow the prompts. On iPad, open Settings → Wallet & Apple Pay → Apple Card, then tap Request Replacement Card under Titanium Card.

Apple says the replacement ships to the Apple Card billing address stored in Wallet and sends a shipping notification to your iPhone when it ships. If you have moved, update the address before requesting the card; Apple explains how under Apple Card account information. A compatible iPhone with the latest iOS is required to activate the titanium card.
If you are an Apple Card Family participant, the account owner or co-owner may need to request a replacement for you; participants under 18 need an owner or co-owner to handle it. For a name change, Apple directs customers to contact an Apple Card Specialist to update relevant personal information before requesting a new titanium card.

What can you use while the replacement is on its way?
The physical titanium card is mainly useful at merchants that do not accept Apple Pay. If Apple Pay is set up on your device, it is a practical alternative while you wait. The physical card, virtual number and Apple Pay device number are distinct credentials, however; an expiring physical card does not by itself establish that every digital payment credential has the same date or status. Check Wallet rather than assuming all card functions stop together.
Do not remove and re-add Apple Card to Wallet just because the titanium card is expiring. For recurring payments, check what credential a merchant has stored if a charge fails. Apple’s public guidance does not promise that every subscription, hotel, car-rental booking or other merchant will automatically update a stored expiration date, nor does it establish a universal rule for how those merchants handle a replacement. You do not need to update every payment preemptively, but monitor important charges and update a merchant’s payment details if it requests them or a payment is declined.

If the card is lost or stolen—not merely nearing its expiration date—lock it before requesting a replacement. Apple says a lost or stolen titanium card is immediately suspended. Follow Apple’s steps to lock or unlock Apple Card.

- Check that the billing address in Wallet is current: Wallet → Apple Card → More → Account Details.
- Look for the shipping notification on your iPhone.
- Reopen Wallet and check the titanium-card details for any status or updated information.
- Contact Apple Card support through Wallet and ask an Apple Card Specialist for help.
- If both your iPhone and physical card are unavailable, call 877-255-5923 for replacement assistance.
Does the Chase issuer transition change the replacement process?
Not based on the public information currently available. Apple and Chase announced on January 7, 2026, that Chase would become the Apple Card issuer, with the transition expected to take approximately 24 months. Apple’s transition information says existing customers can continue using Apple Card during the transition and that more details, including physical-card information, will be provided as it approaches. It does not set out a new replacement-card schedule or say that an expiring card will be replaced automatically because of the transition.

Apple’s current support materials identify Goldman Sachs Bank USA as the issuer. Treat the Chase change as future transition context, not as a reason to cancel your card, reapply, or expect a particular replacement. See Apple’s announcement and the Apple Card issuer transition page for updates.
Apple Card is available to qualifying applicants in the United States. The Wallet labels can vary with device and software version; use Apple’s current support instructions if a menu differs on your device.
