Bybit is a centralized cryptocurrency platform for spot trading, derivatives and other crypto services—but it is not available everywhere. Check Bybit’s current restricted-jurisdiction list before registering; it lists the United States among excluded jurisdictions. Do not use a VPN or false residence details to get around restrictions. If you are eligible, the prudent starting point is to secure your account, make a small test deposit, and learn with unleveraged spot trading—not leverage.

What Bybit is—and what it is not

Bybit is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange. You can use it to buy and sell crypto, trade spot markets, and, where available, access derivatives, options, margin, P2P trading, copy trading, Earn products and API tools. The platform holds and administers assets deposited to your exchange account; a balance there is not the same as money in an insured bank account or crypto held in a wallet whose keys you control. Exchange, operational, cybersecurity, regulatory, market and withdrawal risks remain.

Products, payment methods and legal terms vary by regional entity and jurisdiction. Bybit’s getting-started guide describes its broad product range, but a product listed in general documentation may not be available to every user.

First check whether Bybit is available to you

Availability is a threshold question, not a signup detail. Bybit’s restricted-countries page, last updated May 7, 2026, lists the United States, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Syria, Dubai and Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine among excluded jurisdictions. The list can change and is not necessarily exhaustive; check the official restriction page immediately before opening or using an account.

Do not misstate your residence or use a VPN to bypass a restriction. Bybit’s terms reserve the right to restrict service, terminate an account or take action affecting open positions when location information is false. If you live in the United States, use a legally available alternative rather than trying to access Bybit’s global service.

How Bybit accounts work: Funding and UTA

Bybit’s current account structure distinguishes the Funding Account from the Unified Trading Account (UTA).

  • Funding Account: commonly used for deposits, withdrawals, fiat services and P2P activity.
  • UTA: used for spot, margin, derivatives and options trading, depending on eligibility and supported assets.

A deposit may appear in Funding without being available for a particular UTA order. You may need to transfer it or use a supported automatic-transfer setting. Bybit’s Funding Account guide and UTA FAQ explain the current arrangement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The UTA is convenient, but it is not a safety barrier. In cross or portfolio margin, eligible assets may act as shared collateral; derivatives losses can therefore put other collateral at risk. Review the UTA asset and margin information before enabling margin features.

How to create an account

  1. Visit the official Bybit regional website or reach the app through links on Bybit’s official site. Check the domain carefully; do not follow unsolicited signup links in ads or messages.
  2. Select Sign Up and provide your actual country or region of residence.
  3. Register with an email address or phone number and enter the verification code.
  4. Set a unique password that you do not use on any other service.
  5. Complete required identity and security checks.

Bybit’s registration guide recommends email registration and notes that email and Google Authentication are required for withdrawals under that guide. One email address or phone number is limited to one Bybit account. Keep access to the email account you register with, and do not create duplicate accounts to evade a verification issue.

Identity verification (KYC)

Bybit may require identity verification to access fiat deposits, higher withdrawal limits or specific products such as Earn and Launchpad-related services. The process typically involves personal information, identity documents and a selfie. Requirements, product access and limits vary by country, verification level and account circumstances.

Submit documents only through the official website or app. Make sure names and address details match your documents, and provide clear, unaltered images. If verification fails, follow the official appeal or resubmission process rather than opening another account. A published withdrawal-limit example is not a universal allowance; check the limits shown for your own account and jurisdiction. See Bybit’s onboarding guide and KYC-level information.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Secure the account before funding it

  • Use a strong, unique password and store it in a reputable password manager.
  • Enable an authenticator method such as Google Authenticator, and configure email or device verification offered in your account.
  • Set an anti-phishing code if available, and learn how official Bybit messages should appear.
  • Enable withdrawal-address whitelisting or a new-address withdrawal lock where available.
  • Review active sessions and devices, and secure the email account tied to Bybit.
  • Install the mobile app only through the app-store links reached from Bybit’s official website.

Never share your password, authenticator codes, seed phrase, private keys or screen recordings with anyone claiming to be support. If you lose access to an authenticator, use the official reset or recovery route in the Help Center or account interface. Expect additional verification and possibly a temporary withdrawal restriction; social-media support accounts are not a safe recovery channel. Bybit lists security and recovery topics in its Help Center.

How to deposit cryptocurrency

  1. Open Assets, then choose the deposit function or Funding Account deposit view.
  2. Select the exact asset and the blockchain network you intend to use.
  3. Copy the displayed deposit address or scan its QR code. Check whether a memo, tag or payment ID is required.
  4. At the sending wallet or exchange, select the same asset and network. Compare the address and any required memo before confirming.
  5. For a first transfer, send a small test amount, then wait for the required confirmations and check deposit history.

Crypto deposits are generally credited to the Funding Account, with supported settings for automatic transfer elsewhere. Bybit’s deposit guide and Funding Account guide describe the process.

Before sending, verify four things independently: asset, network, address and memo/tag. The same ticker can exist on different networks. A wrong-network transfer, unsupported token or missing memo can be delayed or unrecoverable; do not assume an exchange can retrieve it. Keep the transaction hash and sender details if a deposit does not arrive. Use the official Help Center’s unsupported-deposit or missing-deposit process rather than an unofficial recovery service.

Buying crypto with fiat or through P2P

Depending on location, Bybit may offer One-Click Buy, card payments, third-party providers, bank transfers, fiat balances or P2P trades. Supported currencies, providers, fees, processing times and eligibility differ by region and can change. Review the quote and total cost on the final confirmation screen before authorizing payment. Fiat deposits, when supported, are credited to Funding.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

One-click scans. No signup required.

For P2P trading, keep the transaction and communications within Bybit’s escrow workflow. Do not release crypto because a buyer sends a screenshot or claims payment is complete: verify settled funds in your own bank account. Do not move the deal off-platform. If payment is disputed or delayed, use the platform’s appeal process. Bank transfers can be reversed or challenged, so follow the displayed rules and do not mark payment received prematurely.

  • Two-button pad device interface, designed for user-friendly operation
  • Bright OLED display for easy & secure hands-on verification
  • PIN & passphrase enabled for on-device protection

Move funds from Funding to trading

If your funds are in Funding but an order cannot use them, open Assets → Transfer, set Funding Account as the source and Unified Trading Account as the destination, select the asset and amount, then confirm. Some flows route funds automatically. Check the balance in the account relevant to the product rather than assuming every visible balance is trade-ready.

How to place a basic spot trade

  1. Open Trade → Spot and choose a trading pair, such as BTC/USDT. The first asset is the one being bought or sold; the second is the quote currency used to price it.
  2. Choose Buy or Sell, then select an order type.
  3. Enter the amount or value. Check minimum order size, available balance, spread and liquidity.
  4. Review the order summary, estimated execution and fee before submitting.
  5. After placing it, check open orders, order history or trade history. A limit order may remain open; cancel it if you no longer want it.

Market order: seeks immediate execution against available offers or bids. It does not guarantee the displayed price; slippage is possible, especially in a thin market, and execution can be partial.

Limit order: sets the worst price you will accept to buy or sell. It may fill at that price or better, but it may not fill at all.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bybit also documents conditional orders, take-profit/stop-loss, trailing stops, OCO, post-only, iceberg and TWAP features. These are more complex and availability can vary by market or interface. Understand trigger prices, time-in-force and execution behavior before relying on them. Bybit’s spot tutorial describes order types; its spot rules note price limits, quotas for some assets and cases where market orders may be partially executed or canceled.

For a first trade, use a small unleveraged spot order. Do not confuse a market order’s convenience with price certainty, or a limit order’s price control with guaranteed execution.

Fees: what to check before trading

Fees depend on product, maker/taker status, VIP tier, region and the applicable schedule. Official materials show non-VIP examples of 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker for spot, 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker for perpetuals and futures, and 0.02% maker and 0.03% taker for options. These are examples, not a promise for every account or market. After verification, check My Fee Rates and the specific order screen. See Bybit’s fee overview and spot-fee explanation.

imKey Pro Crypto Hardware Wallet Secure Cold Crypto Wallet with Offline Storage CC EAL6+ Secure for Digital Assets Bitcoin Ethereum XRP NFTs & ERC20 Tokens
  • Top-Tier Security Chip, Bank-Grade Asset Protection: Equipped with an industry-leading Infineon CC EAL 6+ certified security chip, also certified by EMVCo, this chip is widely used in bank payment and identity verification systems. Your private keys are generated and stored entirely offline within the chip, ensuring they never touch the internet. This physically blocks remote hacker attacks and eliminates the risk of private key leakage, building an impregnable first line of defense for your digital assets.
  • What You See Is What You Sign, Hardware Button Protection: Every transaction requires manual confirmation via physical buttons on the imKey Pro's clear display. The device intuitively shows key transaction details like the amount and address, ensuring the data hasn't been tampered with during transmission—truly achieving "What You See Is What You Sign." It also features secure PIN code protection and a self-destruct mechanism after multiple incorrect attempts (the private key is wiped after 5 consecutive wrong entries), effectively preventing brute-force attacks even if the device is lost.
  • Comprehensive Multi-Chain Asset Support, Access the Web3 Ecosystem: Fully supports major mainnets and Layer 2 networks, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), LTC, ATOM, FIL, TRX and more. By adding custom RPCs, you can easily access all EVM-compatible chains like BSC, Polygon, and Avalanche. Furthermore, imKey Pro perfectly supports Layer 2 solutions such as zkSync and Arbitrum, as well as the display and storage of NFTs, meeting all your diverse on-chain needs.
  • Cold & Hot Wallet Separation, A Seamless Experience: Utilizing Bluetooth 4.1 wireless technology, it pairs seamlessly with the imToken App on your mobile phone or browser extension wallets on your PC without needing any cables. It combines the ultimate security of a cold wallet (offline private key storage) with the convenience of a hot wallet (online interaction). When a transaction is needed, you sign it offline with your imKey, and the app broadcasts it to the chain. This guarantees asset security without sacrificing the fluidity of use.
  • Extremely Thin and Light, A Portable Digital Vault: The device is smaller than a credit card, measuring just 2.3mm thick and weighing approximately 17g. Crafted with a zinc alloy body and a PC panel, it offers a premium feel and is extremely portable. The built-in 33mAh lithium-polymer battery provides a battery life of up to approximately four weeks on a single charge. The package includes the hardware wallet, a USB cable, and mnemonic cards, making it ready to use right out of the box—a secure and reliable gateway to the crypto world.

At a 0.10% spot rate, a fully filled 1,000 USDT purchase has a fee equivalent of 1 USDT. The fee may be deducted in the purchased asset or quote asset; check the order confirmation and trade record.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Other costs may include blockchain withdrawal fees, fiat or card-provider charges, P2P spreads or payment costs, derivatives funding payments, margin borrowing interest, conversion spreads and slippage. Bybit says on-chain deposits generally do not carry a Bybit deposit fee, but network or third-party costs may still apply. External withdrawals can incur charges; an internal account transfer being free does not mean an on-chain withdrawal is free.

How to withdraw crypto safely

  1. Open Assets → Funding and choose Withdraw. Funds may need to be in Funding first.
  2. Select the asset and enter or choose the destination address.
  3. Select the same blockchain network supported by the destination. Add any required memo or tag.
  4. Review the minimum withdrawal, network fee and amount received.
  5. Complete email and authenticator checks, confirm, then save the withdrawal record and transaction ID.

Whitelist the address where possible and send a small test withdrawal to a new destination. Carefully compare address characters and network details on both services; never trust an address merely because it was pasted from a message. Bybit’s Funding Account information explains withdrawal routing.

If a withdrawal is delayed, check its status and whether a blockchain transaction ID has been issued. If it has, check the network and destination service for confirmations or congestion. If it has not, look for security review, account verification or compliance requests in your account. Recent changes to password, email, phone or authenticator settings may trigger additional checks or holds. Follow the stated processing window and contact support through the official Help Center or logged-in channel only.

Advanced products: understand the risk before opting in

Spot margin

Margin means borrowing assets to increase a position. Borrowing interest and collateral requirements apply, and losses can exceed what a beginner expects. Learn the borrowing, repayment and liquidation rules before using it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Perpetuals, futures and options

A perpetual contract has no fixed expiry; futures can have an expiry date. Perpetuals may involve funding payments between long and short traders. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and a position can be liquidated when maintenance-margin requirements are no longer met. Liquidation may be triggered using a mark price rather than the last traded price. In cross or portfolio margin, losses may draw on more of the account’s eligible collateral. An insurance fund is not protection against a trader’s losses.

Isolated margin generally assigns risk to a specific position; cross margin shares broader account collateral; portfolio margin applies portfolio-level risk calculations and is intended for sophisticated users. Consider subaccounts or collateral-selection controls if you need to separate strategies, but do not assume these settings remove market or platform risk. Beginners should stay with unleveraged spot or a demo/test environment until they understand liquidation, funding and order behavior.

Earn, copy trading and token-access products

Earn products such as savings-style offers, Dual Assets or liquidity products are not insured bank deposits or guaranteed returns. Rates can vary; lockups, early redemption limits, token-price movements, strategy or smart-contract issues, counterparty exposure and product-specific loss mechanics may apply. Read the current terms for the exact product before subscribing.

Copy trading does not make another trader’s results predictable or eliminate risk: copied positions can lose money and execution can differ. Launchpad- or Launchpool-related token products have their own eligibility and market risks. Availability and conditions vary by region.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

API and automated trading

For API keys, grant only the permissions needed, normally leave withdrawal permission disabled, use IP restrictions if offered, and never commit credentials to public code. Bots still face market, execution, outage and liquidation risk. Test with small amounts and consult current API documentation for permissions and rate limits.

When Bybit may—or may not—fit

Bybit may suit an eligible user who wants a broad set of spot and advanced markets and understands exchange custody, regional terms and trading risk. It may be a poor fit if it is restricted where you live, if you need a particular local license or fiat rail, or if you want only a simple long-term purchase-and-hold service. Compare legally available platforms on fiat access, fees, supported products, withdrawal policies, custody disclosures, support and tax-reporting tools; no exchange is universally best.

For long-term holdings, self-custody can reduce exchange exposure but shifts responsibility to you. A lost or exposed seed phrase, malware, phishing or an irreversible wrong-address transfer can permanently cost you assets. A hardware wallet is not automatically safer if you cannot protect its recovery phrase. Do not move funds off an exchange until you understand the wallet and can verify a small test transfer.

Before your first deposit and withdrawal

  • Confirm your jurisdiction and product eligibility on Bybit’s current official page.
  • Complete required verification and secure the account, email and authenticator.
  • Deposit only an amount you can afford to put at risk, using a small test transfer first.
  • Match the asset, network, address and memo/tag exactly.
  • Check the account location of funds: Funding or UTA.
  • Use spot rather than leverage while learning; review fees and order execution before confirming.
  • Test a small withdrawal to a verified destination and save its transaction ID.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
