Use an AI music tool to create a short instrumental, download it as MP3 or WAV, upload that file to Google Drive, then add it with Insert > Audio in Google Slides. Set playback to start automatically or on click, choose whether it stops when the slide changes, and test the deck in Present mode with the audience’s sharing permissions.
Choose Music That Works In A Slide Deck
Presentation music has a different job from a standalone song: it should sit under speech, loop cleanly or end at a planned transition, and avoid distracting vocal lines. Prompt for an instrumental, a restrained arrangement, and a duration that matches your opening, section divider, or closing slide. If people will hear a live narrator, ask for low-density drums and space in the midrange.

Udio is useful for drafting ideas, but its stated download restriction makes it a poor choice when you need an audio file for Slides now. For a file-first workflow, choose a tool in the table that explicitly lists MP3 or WAV export and confirm rights for your audience and venue.
Write A Presentation-Specific Prompt
Include the slide role, mood, instrumentation, energy curve, and technical target. Avoid naming an artist or asking for a recognizable song. Try one of these prompts:

Generate several variations, then choose the one whose ending and intensity fit the exact slide timing. If a tool supports stems, export a lighter mix or remove a distracting layer before downloading.
Generate And Download The Audio
- Open your chosen tool and enter a prompt that names the slide role and “instrumental” when speech will play over it.
- Regenerate or edit the section until the opening, peak, and ending match your planned slide duration.
- Export MP3 or WAV when the tool offers that format. Keep the original file and note the tool, plan, prompt, and creation date.
- Read the tool’s current rights terms. Free or personal plans may exclude commercial use, and rights can differ for voices, references, samples, or uploaded material. Use only material you have permission to upload.
Add The Track To Google Slides
- Upload the MP3 or WAV file to Google Drive.
- Open the presentation and select the slide where playback should begin.
- Choose Insert > Audio, select the Drive file, and insert it.
- With the audio selected, open Format options. Choose automatic playback for a hands-free opener or on-click playback when a presenter controls the cue.
- Set the volume and choose whether the audio stops when the slide changes. If you need an exact shorter clip, edit it in the music tool or an audio editor before uploading it.
- Share the presentation and Drive audio with the viewers who need access. Test it in Present mode from the account and device you will use at the event.
Build A Reliable Playback Plan
- Use one cue per purpose: Keep an opener, divider, narration bed, and outro as separate files so you can change timing without rebuilding the whole deck.
- Keep speech dominant: Lower the audio volume and avoid dense vocals when a presenter is talking.
- Plan for transitions: A short, resolved ending is safer than an abrupt cut on a title or section change.
- Check access: A viewer who cannot open the Drive file may see the slide without hearing its audio.
- Carry a fallback: Keep a local copy of the audio and a version of the deck that still communicates without sound.
Rights And Consent Checks
Before presenting publicly, confirm the selected plan permits your use. AI music services describe commercial, personal, social, and other permissions differently. Do not upload a person’s voice, a copyrighted recording, or reference material unless you have consent and the service’s terms allow that use. If a tool’s page does not establish a needed right or export option, check the vendor’s current terms before relying on it.

Fix Common Google Slides Problems
- No sound in Present mode: Recheck that the audio file is still in Drive and that the presenting account has permission to play it.
- Starts at the wrong moment: Move the audio object to the slide that should trigger it and review the automatic or on-click setting.
- Music overwhelms narration: Lower the audio volume, regenerate with “no lead melody,” or export a stem-reduced mix where supported.
- Track is too short: Extend or regenerate it in the music tool, or use a separate short cue for the next slide rather than stretching it unnaturally.
