Make the soundtrack by generating several short, instrumental-first ideas, choosing one whose timing matches your edit, exporting the highest-quality file your plan allows, and checking the product’s current YouTube and commercial-use terms before publishing. A practical workflow is: plan the scene, prompt for structure and mood, generate variations, edit transitions, fit the music to video, export, and keep a record of the license.
Plan Music Around The Video
Write a one-line brief before opening a generator. Include the video length, where the intro and ending occur, the energy curve, whether speech needs room, and the instruments you want. For example: “90-second technology explainer; calm electronic pulse under narration; brighter lift at 0:35; brief rise at 1:20; clean ending at 1:28; instrumental.” Treat the result as a draft: generated duration, musical sections, and licensing depend on the service and plan.

Generate The First Draft
- Open the tool that matches your export requirement and select instrumental mode when narration or dialogue must remain clear.
- Paste a prompt with purpose, length target, tempo feel, instrumentation, intensity changes and ending behavior. Example: “Instrumental background for a 60-second coding tutorial, mid-tempo, soft synth pulse, light percussion, no dramatic drop, low density under speech, gentle resolved ending.”
- Generate at least three variations. Change one major variable at a time, such as acoustic versus electronic texture or steady versus rising energy, so you can compare useful differences.
- Listen for a clean opening, a section that can sit under the voice, and an ending that can be cut or faded. If the service exposes sections, stems or timeline editing, mark those points immediately.

Leave Space Under Speech
Prefer fewer simultaneous parts during explanations. Ask for a restrained arrangement, soft percussion and a stable pulse; reserve denser layers for b-roll or a chapter transition. These are prompt directions, not guarantees, so inspect every generation.
Build Repeatable Sections
Request an intro, a loopable middle and a short outro. When a tool supports extensions, section replacement, inpainting, remixing or timeline editing, use those controls to repair only the weak passage instead of regenerating the whole track.

Use Stems Carefully
Stems let you lower drums or remove a distracting layer in your editor. Confirm the exact stem access on your plan before you build the edit around it.
Fit The Track To Your YouTube Timeline
- Import the music and video into your editor.
- Place the strongest musical change at a visual change, chapter card or demonstration payoff.
- Trim or extend only at a musically sensible boundary. If you need a custom ending, use the generator’s extension or editing feature where available.
- Lower the music during speech and raise it in visual-only passages. Check the whole video on headphones and ordinary speakers.
- Export the audio format offered by your plan and keep the original generation, prompt and license information with the project.
When A Licensed Library Is Safer
If you need a ready-made track with a documented licensing workflow, compare Epidemic Sound with the production libraries in your budget. Epidemic Sound lists 55,000 music tracks, more than 250,000 sound effects, AI adaptation and stems, but says rights vary by plan. AudioJungle offers individual items from $1 with usage-specific license options, while Universal Production Music, APM Music and Extreme Music handle pricing and licensing by track or project. None of those library entries establishes that a particular track is AI-generated, so choose them for licensing and editorial workflow rather than assuming AI authorship.

Check Rights Before You Publish
- Do not treat a free tier as commercial permission. Suno’s Free Plan excludes commercial rights; Eleven Music’s Free plan is personal use; Mubert’s Creator plan is non-commercial; and Loudly says paid licensing depends on plan terms.

Publish A Clean, Repeatable Result
Use a descriptive filename such as project_topic_version_bpm_date, keep the unedited master, and note which sections were replaced. Before upload, replay the first 15 seconds, every transition and the final fade with narration enabled. If a required download is unavailable—Udio currently disables audio, video and stem downloads during its transition period—choose a workflow that can deliver an audio file under terms you can verify.
