Yes, T-Mobile currently advertises an iPhone 16e “On Us” offer, but it is not an unconditional free phone. The offer described on T-Mobile’s current landing page requires a new qualifying line and a number ported from an eligible carrier, with the phone’s cost offset by 24 monthly bill credits. Taxes, service, and other charges still apply, and leaving early can end the credits. Check your account’s exact offer and terms before ordering; promotions can change.
What T-Mobile’s iPhone 16e offer means
T-Mobile’s advertised new-line offer is a financing promotion: you pay for the phone in installments, then qualifying monthly bill credits offset those installments over 24 months. It is not a cash rebate or an instant discount at checkout. The current offer page describes a new qualifying line and a port-in from an eligible carrier as part of the “On Us” deal. Check T-Mobile’s current offer and confirm its terms in your own checkout flow.
This is different from T-Mobile’s separate trade-in promotions. Those can depend on the customer’s plan, whether the line is new or existing, and the trade-in model and condition. T-Mobile’s promotion page has advertised up to $1,100 toward an iPhone 16e in a qualifying plan-and-trade-in offer, while other combinations can receive less. “Up to” is a maximum, not a value every customer or trade-in will receive. Review T-Mobile’s promotional offer details for the offer code and eligibility that apply to you.

The available evidence does not establish one universal qualifying plan, device storage configuration, or purchasing channel for every account. Confirm the model and storage capacity shown in your offer, the installment term, and whether the phone must be purchased directly from T-Mobile. Metro by T-Mobile is a separate service option with its own plan and promotion terms.

What you will actually pay
“On Us” generally means the net device installment can approach $0 after credits—not that there is nothing to pay. Separate the bill into these parts:
- At purchase: sales tax is generally calculated on the phone’s pre-credit price. A device connection or activation charge, a down payment based on credit qualification or configuration, and any amount above the credit cap may also apply. Accessories are extra.
- Each month: compare the gross device installment with the monthly promotional credit. If they are equal, the net device payment is approximately $0 while the credits continue. Your qualifying wireless service, taxes, fees, and optional services remain payable.
- Over the full term: include 24 months of the required service, not just the phone payment. A more expensive plan chosen only to unlock a device promotion can make the deal cost more than buying the phone outright.
T-Mobile says valid promotional credits can take up to two billing cycles to appear after submission and eligibility validation. Keep copies of the order confirmation, offer details, trade-in receipt and tracking, and each bill while you check that credits have begun.

For a useful comparison, calculate: upfront taxes and fees + 24 months of required service + net device payments − the value of perks you would otherwise pay for. If you already have T-Mobile, compare the added cost of changing plans or lines with the cost of keeping your current plan and buying the phone separately. Use your account’s actual plan and checkout totals; there is no single reliable plan price for every customer.

How to check the offer and protect your credits
- Open your account or T-Mobile checkout. Locate the iPhone 16e offer attached to the specific line you intend to use. Save the offer terms or code.
- Confirm the qualifying line and port-in rules. Check whether a new voice line is required, which outside carriers are eligible for port-in, and whether the line must be new to the account.
- Verify the plan and phone configuration. Make sure the selected rate plan qualifies and that the chosen iPhone 16e storage option is covered. Check the financing term, installment amount, monthly credit, and any amount not offset.
- If trading in, verify the device before surrendering it. Confirm the precise model, condition standard, deadline, and whether the trade-in must be mailed or handed in. Back up and erase the old phone only after you have followed the seller’s instructions and retained proof of submission.
- Complete the purchase under the confirmed offer. Do not assume a promotion will attach automatically if you change the line, plan, or sales channel during checkout.
- Keep the qualifying service active and the account in good standing. Review the next two billing cycles for the expected credit. If it is missing or incorrect, contact T-Mobile promptly with your order and trade-in records.
Trade-in credits can be reduced or denied if the received device does not match the declared eligibility or arrives after the applicable deadline. Promotional credits may also be incompatible with some other discounts or offers. Read T-Mobile’s trade-in terms as well as the offer-specific terms.

What if you cancel or pay off the phone early?
Do not treat the 24-month credits as portable cash. If you cancel the required line or otherwise stop meeting the offer terms, future credits can end, and the remaining device balance may become due. Some offers also end credits if the phone is paid off early. The precise effect depends on the promotion, so check its terms and ask T-Mobile before cancelling a line, changing plans, or paying off the device. This matters especially if you rely on a free-line discount or other account promotion that could conflict with the device offer.
What “more perks” can mean
T-Mobile’s iPhone 16e announcement highlighted entertainment and customer benefits including Apple TV+, Hulu, Netflix, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+, MLB.TV, and T-Mobile’s weekly perk program. These are not automatically included with every T-Mobile subscription. Eligibility, duration, activation steps, and renewal terms depend on the plan and current benefit rules. Count only benefits you would otherwise pay for when estimating their value. A streaming offer may require you to activate or link an account, may be limited to certain plans or a promotional period, and may renew at a regular price afterward. Read the service’s renewal terms and set a reminder if you do not want a paid renewal. A plan benefit is separate from the device credit and does not reduce the phone’s tax or the cost of wireless service.

The 16e is positioned as the more affordable model in the iPhone 16 family, not a substitute for every premium feature. Its camera system is simpler than Pro models, so compare the display, camera, and other hardware you care about before committing to two years of service-related credits.
T-Mobile versus buying elsewhere
- Already on a qualifying T-Mobile plan: The promotion may be attractive if your account is eligible and you intended to keep the service for the full credit term. Check whether an upgrade offer is available before adding an unnecessary line.
- Switching from another carrier: Compare the full 24-month T-Mobile service cost with what you currently pay, including any port-in requirements and account changes. A phone credit is not a saving if the required service costs substantially more than your alternative.
- Buying unlocked from Apple: Paying directly can avoid carrier-credit dependence and may suit someone who wants flexibility to switch providers. Apple’s live price and availability can change; compare them at Apple’s iPhone 16e store page.
- Apple Trade In: A direct trade-in gives a purchase credit under Apple’s terms, rather than a T-Mobile monthly service-linked promotion. Compare your specific estimated value at Apple Trade In with T-Mobile’s offer and commitment.
- Metro by T-Mobile: T-Mobile’s announcement described an iPhone 16e offer for customers joining specified Metro Flex plans, with service credits over time. Check current eligibility and terms directly at Metro; its plan conditions and service are not interchangeable with T-Mobile postpaid.
Bottom line
T-Mobile’s iPhone 16e offer can make the device payment roughly zero if you qualify and stay on the required service while the credits arrive. It is most compelling when the plan already fits your budget, you would keep it for 24 months, and the perks have genuine value to you. If you would add an unwanted line, move to a more expensive plan, or leave before credits finish, compare the total cost with an unlocked phone before committing.
