You do not need the original packaging to activate your titanium Apple Card. On a compatible iPhone, open Wallet, select Apple Card, then go to More > Account Details > Activate Your Card. Choose Having trouble activating your card, select Do Not Have Card Packaging, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Apple Card is a U.S.-only product for qualifying applicants and is issued by Goldman Sachs Bank USA. The steps below are based on Apple’s current support instructions.
Before you start
- Have the physical titanium card with you. Missing packaging is different from a missing card.
- Use the compatible iPhone associated with your Apple Card and update it to the latest available iOS.
- Confirm that the correct Apple Card appears in the iPhone’s Wallet app.
- Use the Apple Account associated with the Apple Card.
Apple’s published activation instructions specifically require a compatible iPhone with the latest iOS. Do not assume that an iPad can complete this activation process.

- Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
- Tap Apple Card.
- Tap the More button.
- Tap Account Details.
- Scroll to the Titanium Card section and tap Activate Your Card.
- Tap Having trouble activating your card.
- Tap Do Not Have Card Packaging.
- Complete the instructions shown in Wallet.
Apple says the titanium card is ready to use as soon as activation is complete. The precise confirmation screen may vary, so rely on Wallet’s status rather than expecting a particular animation or sound.

Packaging lost versus card lost
| What is missing? | What to do |

| The card is damaged or expired | Request a replacement rather than using the packaging-free option. |
If “Activate Your Card” is missing
Apple’s support page confirms the required iPhone and software conditions but does not publish a complete list of every reason the activation control might be absent. These practical checks can resolve common account or Wallet-state problems:
- Make sure you are viewing the correct Apple Card and the titanium card associated with your account.
- Update the iPhone to the latest available iOS.
- Close and reopen Wallet.
- Restart the iPhone.
- Return to Wallet > Apple Card > More > Account Details and check the Titanium Card section again.
- Consider whether the card may already be activated. An absent activation option can be consistent with an already-active card.
If the option remains unavailable or the process fails, contact an Apple Card Specialist at Goldman Sachs through Apple’s Apple Card support options. The issue may involve the account, a participant’s card, a replaced card, or Wallet synchronization.
If Apple Card is not in Wallet
Adding Apple Card back to Wallet is a prerequisite-recovery step; it is not the same as activating the physical titanium card. Apple’s instructions are:

- Update iOS.
- Open Wallet and tap the Add button.
- Select Previous Cards.
- Make sure only Apple Card is selected.
- Tap Continue and sign in with the Apple Account associated with Apple Card.

If the physical card is lost or stolen
Lock the card first:
- Open Wallet.
- Tap Apple Card.
- Tap More > Account Details.
- Scroll to Titanium Card.
- Tap Lock Card.
To request a replacement, go to Wallet > Apple Card > More > Account Details > Request Replacement Card. Apple lists lost, stolen, damaged, and expired cards as situations where replacement may be appropriate. More details are available in Apple’s guidance on locking or replacing a titanium Apple Card.
If both your iPhone and Apple Card are missing
If both devices are lost or stolen, Apple says to call Goldman Sachs for a replacement at (877) 255-5923. Availability or routing may vary by region. Also protect your Apple Account and use Apple’s current lost-device guidance for the missing iPhone.

Apple Card Family participants
An Apple Card Family participant can activate their own titanium card. Make sure Wallet is showing your own card, not the account owner’s or another participant’s card. Views and controls may differ between an account owner, co-owner, and participant.
For participants under 18, Apple says the account owner or co-owner must request or replace the participant’s titanium card. If a participant cannot find the activation option, contacting an Apple Card Specialist is safer than trying to use another person’s card controls.

Activating the physical titanium card is not the same as adding Apple Card to Wallet or using Apple Card through Apple Pay. Depending on the account and device state, you may already be able to use Apple Card digitally while the physical card remains unactivated.

Apple also documents a separate virtual card number for online purchases where Mastercard is accepted. The titanium card itself has no visible card number or other secure information; relevant details are accessed digitally in Wallet after authentication. If you have not ordered a titanium card
The activation flow is only for a physical card already associated with your Apple Card. To request one, open Wallet > Apple Card > More > Account Details > Get a titanium Apple Card, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Safety reminder
Do not share your full card details, security code, Apple Account password, device passcode, or screenshots of sensitive Wallet information with anyone claiming to help activate the card. The packaging-free process is completed inside Wallet or through official Apple Card support.
