The Canadian launch prices were $949 for Pixel 8 and $1,349 for Pixel 8 Pro, before sales tax. Pre-orders opened October 4, 2023; retail sales began October 12. Google’s launch bonuses ran until October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PT, while supplies lasted. These were launch promotions—not offers available in August 2026.
Google’s reported incentives centred on Pixel Buds Pro for Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch 2 or Pixel Buds Pro for Pixel 8 Pro, depending on the purchase path. Carrier plans advertised lower monthly payments, but financing, required plans, bill credits, trade-in rules and return-style programs changed the real cost.
Canadian launch prices at a glance
| Phone | Canadian starting MSRP | Pre-orders | Retail availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 8 | $949 CAD | October 4, 2023 | October 12, 2023 |
| Pixel 8 Pro | $1,349 CAD | October 4, 2023 | October 12, 2023 |
Prices were before GST/HST/PST and applied to the advertised starting configurations. Google’s Canadian announcement did not provide a complete storage-by-storage price table, so do not assume every capacity cost the same. Both phones used Tensor G3 and were promised seven years of software support; the Pro added the larger, higher-end display and camera system. Google’s Canadian announcement has the launch details.

Pixel 8
The principal reported Canadian incentive was a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro. Some descriptions also offered a choice involving $260 off Pixel Watch 2, rather than a free watch. The exact cart, redemption and stock rules depended on the Google Store offer terms; retain the order confirmation rather than relying on advertising language.

Pixel 8 Pro
The headline incentive was a Pixel Watch 2, although Google’s Canadian announcement also described a Pixel Watch 2 or Pixel Buds Pro variation. Reports commonly distinguished the Google Store’s Wi-Fi watch from carrier promotions that supplied an LTE model. LTE service can require a compatible plan and activation, so the two watches were not interchangeable in value. See the contemporary carrier comparison and launch-promotion coverage for the reported variations.
The promotion window was October 4 through October 16, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. PT, while supplies lasted. A carrier could impose a separate claim deadline: Bell’s reported deadline, for example, was November 30, 2023.

Reported Canadian carrier terms
The figures below were launch-period reports, not current 2026 prices. Monthly amounts could require a particular plan, bill credits or a return-style program.
| Provider | Pixel 8 report | Pixel 8 Pro report | Reported bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| TELUS | $0 down; $40.83/mo.; $30.63/mo. with Bring-It-Back; $1,110 retail | $0 down; $58.04/mo.; $45.75/mo. with Bring-It-Back; $1,575 retail | Buds Pro; LTE Watch 2 with Pro |
| Bell | $0 down; $39.54/mo.; $31.63/mo. with Device Return Option; $1,108 retail | $0 down; $56.20/mo.; $46.79/mo. with Device Return Option; $1,575 retail | Buds Pro; Watch 2 with Pro |
| Rogers | $0 down; $39.54/mo. after bill credit; about $31/mo. with Upfront Edge; $1,108 retail | $0 down; $56.21/mo. after bill credit; about $44.60/mo. with Upfront Edge; $1,575 retail | Buds Pro; Watch 2 with Pro |
| Koodo | $188 down; $33/mo. on Tab Plus; $1,110 outright | $601 down; $33/mo. on Tab Plus; $1,575 outright | General TELUS-family accessory offers |
| Virgin Plus | $149 down; $33.34/mo. on Sweet Pay; $1,108 outright | $548 down; $33.34/mo. on Sweet Pay; $1,575 outright | Buds Pro; Watch 2 with Pro |
| Fido | Accessory promotions were reported, but the available launch source did not provide a comparable full price table. | Buds Pro; Watch 2 with Pro | |
Carrier outright prices were therefore roughly $1,108–$1,110 for Pixel 8 and $1,575 for Pixel 8 Pro—higher than Google’s starting MSRPs in the reported launch material. Treat those figures as historical and configuration-specific.

Why a low monthly price is not the phone’s price
Bring-It-Back, Device Return Option and Upfront Edge deferred part of the device cost. At the end of the term, you generally had to return the phone in acceptable condition or pay the deferred balance to keep it. Damage, early cancellation, a plan change or lost bill credits could alter the result.
Compare:
- Google Store: phone price + tax − confirmed trade-in credit + the accessory’s realistic value.
- Carrier: upfront payment + every device payment + deferred balance if keeping the phone + any plan premium − documented credits − realistic accessory value.
Do not call a phone “free” because it shows $0 down, and do not count an accessory at full MSRP unless you genuinely wanted to buy that exact model.

Trade-ins can change the answer
Google’s Canadian trade-in estimate was conditional. After inspection, the final credit could be reduced for damage, a mismatched description, an activation lock or other condition issue. The phone also had to arrive within the required window. Before shipping, remove accounts, factory-reset it, photograph its condition and keep shipping records. Read the Google Store trade-in requirements and compare Google’s final offer with carrier promotions and an independent sale.
Which launch route made sense?
- Unlocked buyer: Google Store was usually the cleaner comparison if you wanted to keep your carrier, avoid a return obligation and could use the accessory. A strong inspected trade-in could improve its value.
- Existing TELUS, Bell or Rogers customer: financing could work when you already needed the eligible plan and intended to upgrade or return the phone. Verify the residual balance and what happens if you cancel.
- Watch buyer: Pixel 8 Pro’s Watch 2 promotion was attractive only if you wanted that watch and understood Wi-Fi versus LTE and any cellular-service requirement.
- Earbud buyer: Pixel 8 with Pixel Buds Pro could be the better practical bundle for someone who did not need Pro cameras, the larger display or a watch.
- Ownership-focused buyer: avoid treating return programs as unconditional discounts; calculate the keep-the-phone payoff before signing.
Checklist before ordering a remaining Pixel 8 listing
- Confirm whether the listing is new, open-box, refurbished or marketplace stock.
- Check storage, warranty, seller and unlocked/carrier status.
- Confirm that any accessory is part of a live offer—not the expired October 2023 promotion.
- Record the accessory model (Wi-Fi or LTE), claim process and deadline.
- Read the financing term, required plan, bill-credit conditions and deferred balance.
- Check return-condition rules and the cost of keeping the phone.
- For trade-in, document condition, remove account locks and retain proof of delivery.
Current retailer pages can mix new, open-box, refurbished and carrier-financed inventory. For example, Best Buy Canada’s Pixel 8 Pro collection should not be read as proof that Google’s 2023 bonus or pricing remains available.
