Short answer: Google Fi did report a $699 price for the 256GB Pixel 7 Pro in a U.S. promotion published January 19, 2024. The 512GB model was reported at $799. However, the price required a new qualifying Google Fi full-service plan, a number port-in and 120 consecutive days of service. The promotion is not currently verified on Google Fi’s live Pixel page, so do not treat $699 as an active August 2026 offer.
What the historical promotion offered
PiunikaWeb reported the following prices on January 19, 2024:

These are historical prices reported by PiunikaWeb, not a current Google Fi quotation.
The report also listed financing of $29.13 per month for 24 months on the 256GB phone and $33.29 per month for 24 months on the 512GB version. Multiplying those rounded payments produces $699.12 and $798.96, respectively; live checkout terms could differ.

Why $699 was not an unconditional phone price
The reported discount was tied to a service promotion. According to the 2024 report, a buyer had to:
- Buy the Pixel 7 Pro alone or with a qualifying group plan.
- Activate it on a new Google Fi full-service plan.
- Activate within 30 days of the shipment-confirmation email.
- Port or transfer an eligible number from another carrier within that same 30-day window.
- Keep the qualifying device active and the account in good standing for 120 consecutive days.
Data-only SIMs reportedly did not qualify, and transfers from Google Fi were excluded. Pausing or suspending service during the qualification period could also break the promotion.

The reported consequence was significant: Google could charge the $300 promotional amount to the customer’s Google Pay account if the activation, port-in or 120-day requirement was not completed. In other words, $699 was a conditional price—not simply the cost of an unlocked Pixel 7 Pro with no carrier obligation.

- Device price: $699 or $799, based on the storage version.
- At least four months of the required Google Fi service.
- Applicable taxes and fees.
- Any financing or payment costs shown at checkout.
- Potentially reversed promotional savings if you miss a condition.
- Less any trade-in credit that survives inspection.
Compare that total with what you would pay to keep your current carrier. A $300 phone discount can disappear if Fi service costs more than your existing plan or if you would not otherwise switch carriers. Confirm that your number is eligible before canceling current service; canceling first can create porting problems.
Trade-in credit is separate—and not guaranteed
The historical article pointed readers toward Google’s trade-in program. Google’s trade-in terms say the initial value is an estimate. The final credit depends on inspection and can be lower or zero.

Before sending a phone, it generally must be yours, not subject to another financing or lease claim, and free of disqualifying conditions. Back up your data, factory-reset the device, remove SIM and memory cards, disconnect it from your wireless account and ship it within the stated 30-calendar-day period after accepting the quote. Lost, stolen, counterfeit or swollen-battery devices can be rejected, and damaged phones may receive substantially less.

Instant credit carries additional risk: Google may charge your original payment method if the phone is not shipped, is returned, is ineligible or is worth less than estimated. Photograph the device’s condition and retain shipping proof as sensible precautions.

Is the Pixel 7 Pro still a good buy?
That depends on the current listing, not the 2024 headline. By 2026, the Pixel 7 Pro is an older generation. Check its remaining software-support period, battery condition, warranty and return coverage, and whether the seller is Google, Google Fi, a marketplace or a refurbisher. Compare those factors with a newer Pixel, a certified-refurbished model or a current carrier promotion.
Do not assume that an old $699 price is still exceptional, and do not describe the Pixel 7 Pro as a current-generation phone without a current official listing.
How to verify a similar Google Fi offer
The historical Pixel 7 Pro URL now redirects to Google Fi’s general Pixel page and does not display the $699 promotion in the captured page: fi.google.com/about/phones/pixel-7-pro. Before ordering any comparable deal, check the official Fi phone storefront, plan page and promotion terms.

- Does it require a new full-service account and a port-in?
- When must activation occur?
- How long must the line remain active?
- What happens if you pause service, return the phone or replace it?
- Are taxes, fees and financing clearly shown?
- What are the trade-in inspection and chargeback rules?
Bottom line
The $699 Pixel 7 Pro was a genuine, reported January 2024 Google Fi promotion, but only for customers who met strict activation, port-in and 120-day service conditions. The offer is not currently verified on Google Fi’s live page. Treat it as a historical deal, and evaluate any replacement offer using total service cost, trade-in risk and the phone’s age—not the headline discount alone.
