Yes, Samsung really offered the unlocked Galaxy S25 FE with 256GB of storage for the 128GB model’s $649.99 price. The limited-time U.S. launch promotion effectively waived the usual $60 storage premium. However, it was a 2025 promotion—not an offer that should be assumed available now.
Samsung’s current product page still lists 128GB and 256GB versions, but the original double-storage pricing was not verifiable as active in the latest reviewed listings. Best Buy’s reviewed 256GB unlocked listing showed the regular $709.99 price and was sold out.
What Samsung’s double-storage offer included
This was a physical-storage upgrade, not a RAM or cloud-storage promotion. Buyers received the 256GB unlocked Galaxy S25 FE for approximately the price of the 128GB model.

Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP list puts the normal difference at $60. Some launch coverage rounded the prices to $650 and $710, which produces the same approximate saving.

The promotion did not increase the phone’s 8GB of RAM or change its performance. It simply provided twice the advertised internal storage for the lower model’s price.
When was the promotion available?
The offer was reported during the Galaxy S25 FE’s U.S. launch period in September 2025. 9to5Google reported launch deals on September 9, while separate Amazon coverage advertised a related bundle through September 21, 2025. SamMobile later reported Samsung’s U.S. double-storage offer and updated its coverage in November.
Those reports establish a limited launch-period window, but they do not provide a definitive Samsung expiration date. The safest conclusion is that the promotion was real and temporary, not a permanent change to the S25 FE’s pricing.

Was it really available in the United States?
Yes. SamMobile observed Samsung’s U.S. store selling the 256GB model for about $649 instead of its regular $709 price. During the reported promotion, the 128GB selection was unavailable, which prevented shoppers from paying the same amount for the smaller configuration.
The offer applied to Samsung’s unlocked product rather than automatically applying to every Galaxy S25 FE sold by a carrier or retailer. Samsung’s official purchase page lists the U.S. unlocked storage configurations.
Could buyers combine it with trade-in savings?
Launch coverage said Samsung’s storage promotion could be combined with trade-in savings, with discounts reported at up to $400. That amount was conditional—not a guaranteed discount for every buyer.
The actual credit depended on the traded-in device, its condition, Samsung’s current valuation, and whether the phone passed inspection. Treat the storage upgrade as the guaranteed promotional value when available; treat trade-in credit as a separate, conditional saving.

- inspection and return requirements;
- the deadline for sending the old phone;
- whether the credit is applied immediately or paid through installments; and
- what happens if Samsung reduces or rejects the quoted value.
Samsung, Amazon and carrier offers were different deals
Samsung unlocked offer
Samsung’s promotion concerned the unlocked phone and reduced the price of the 256GB configuration to roughly $649.99. An outright unlocked purchase does not depend on remaining enrolled in a carrier’s financing plan, although it still requires a compatible carrier SIM, eSIM or service.
Amazon’s launch bundle
Amazon reportedly matched the approximately $649 price for the 256GB phone and added a $100 Amazon gift card during a separate launch promotion. That bundle was advertised through September 21, 2025, and was later marked expired by 9to5Toys.
The Amazon gift card was a separate retailer incentive. It is not evidence that Samsung’s own offer remained active, and it should not be presented as a current benefit.

Carrier promotions
Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and UScellular also reported launch offers involving trade-ins, device financing and bill credits. These promotions should not be compared with a $649 outright unlocked purchase without calculating the conditions.
A carrier’s “free” phone commonly requires some combination of:
- a qualifying unlimited plan;
- a new line or eligible upgrade;
- monthly device financing;
- a qualifying trade-in; and
- remaining with the carrier long enough to receive all bill credits.
If you cancel service or switch carriers early, future credits may stop while the remaining device balance becomes due. A carrier offer can be the better deal for someone already committed to that plan, but it is not equivalent to receiving a $649 phone with no ongoing obligations.
Is 256GB worth choosing over 128GB?
When both versions cost the same, 256GB is the logical choice for most long-term owners. Extra capacity is useful for:
- 4K video and large photo libraries;
- downloaded music, movies and maps;
- large games and app data; and
- keeping the phone for several years without constantly deleting files.
Actual available space is lower than the advertised capacity because Android and preinstalled software use part of it. Do not interpret 256GB as 256GB of free space.

The 128GB model may still be sufficient if you stream most content, back up photos automatically and routinely remove local files, or plan to replace the phone soon. But if the 256GB version is only $60 more—or the promotion removes that difference—the larger model offers the better storage value.

Because launch promotions can disappear while an old headline remains online, verify the offer at checkout:
- Confirm the capacity: the product title, configuration selector and cart should all say 256GB.
- Check the model number: make sure the cart and order confirmation identify the intended U.S. model.
- Confirm unlocked status: do not assume a carrier-branded SKU qualifies for Samsung’s unlocked promotion.
- Review the pre-trade-in price: separate the promotional price from trade-in credit.
- Read the terms: check eligibility, payment method, trade-in rules and the stated end date.
- Check stock and color: availability may differ by color, retailer and configuration.
- Save the paperwork: retain the cart, terms, order confirmation and trade-in estimate.
A promotional badge is less reliable than the capacity, model number and final price shown in the cart and invoice.
Current availability and pricing
The latest reviewed Samsung page continues to list both 128GB and 256GB Galaxy S25 FE configurations, but it does not show the original double-storage messaging. The reviewed Best Buy listing for the unlocked 256GB Jet Black model showed the regular $709.99 price and a sold-out status.

Samsung’s MSRP document also notes that prices can change without notice. Check the final price and stock directly before buying through Samsung or a retailer such as Best Buy.
Bottom line
The Galaxy S25 FE double-storage promotion was legitimate: during the 2025 U.S. launch period, Samsung offered the 256GB unlocked phone for the 128GB model’s $649.99 price, saving about $60 versus normal pricing. It was compelling because buyers received more useful storage without paying the usual premium.
But the promotion should now be treated as historical unless a current checkout page explicitly restores it. Compare today’s actual 128GB and 256GB prices, and do not confuse Samsung’s unlocked offer with Amazon’s expired gift-card bundle or carrier deals based on long-term bill credits.
