Jay Choi became CEO of Typeform, and Charley Daitch became CEO of Rowan Digital Infrastructure, according to a GeekWire report published November 20, 2024. The appointments put two leaders with experience at large technology companies in charge of very different growth businesses: a software company focused on customer engagement and a developer of hyperscale data centers.
Jay Choi brings product leadership to Typeform
Choi joined Typeform as CEO after serving as chief product officer at Glia. Before Glia, he spent nearly seven years at Qualtrics as chief product officer and general manager. His earlier career included Danaher, 3M and Deloitte. GeekWire reported that he had also joined Typeform’s board in February 2024, before moving into the CEO role.
At Qualtrics, Choi’s work centered on product strategy and customer experience—experience relevant to a company whose business depends on helping organizations collect and act on customer input. Typeform’s announcement of his board appointment described him as a product leader with experience in customer-centric solutions, product innovation and product-led growth. The company said Qualtrics grew from roughly 900 employees to more than 5,500 during his seven-year tenure; those are company-provided historical figures, not independently audited measurements.

Typeform is known for forms, surveys and quizzes designed around conversational data collection. Its product direction has also expanded toward AI-assisted creation and analysis, data enrichment and workflow automation. In company materials, Typeform described a business serving more than 150,000 organizations and generating hundreds of millions of responses or interactions annually; those figures were company-reported and should not be read as a current audited count. Choi’s appointment can be understood as bringing product and scaling experience to a company seeking to extend beyond the form-builder category, though Typeform did not state that as a specific CEO mandate.

Charley Daitch moves from AWS infrastructure work to Rowan
Daitch became CEO of Rowan Digital Infrastructure after joining the company as chief commercial officer in October 2023. Before Rowan, he spent nearly eight years at Amazon Web Services, where he was director of energy and water. GeekWire reported that his remit included renewable energy, power infrastructure, utility relationships and water systems supporting AWS data-center expansion. Daitch is Seattle-based; Rowan is headquartered in Denver.

Rowan develops sustainable hyperscale data centers for major technology companies. It is a digital-infrastructure business, not a conventional software startup: its growth depends on securing electricity and transmission capacity, arranging renewable power, addressing water and cooling needs, and navigating utility agreements, permitting, construction and commercial commitments. Daitch’s AWS experience aligns closely with those operating constraints, although the available reporting does not establish that he oversaw every part of AWS data-center operations.

Two appointments, different kinds of scaling

The common thread is experience applying at scale, but the work is not interchangeable. Choi’s background is rooted in software product, customer experience and enterprise growth. Daitch’s is in the energy and water systems that underpin cloud infrastructure. Their appointments illustrate two distinct ways a growth company can draw on experience from a large technology platform: scaling a digital product or delivering the physical capacity behind digital services.

What the moves do—and do not—show
These appointments show two senior technology-company alumni taking CEO roles; they do not, by themselves, establish a broad executive-migration trend. Nor were either Choi or Daitch previously CEO of the company they left: Choi was a Qualtrics product chief and general manager, while Daitch was an AWS director responsible for energy and water. “Startup” is also a broad label here: Typeform is an established software company, and Rowan operates in capital-intensive data-center infrastructure rather than the typical early-stage app or SaaS market.
The appointments were reported in November 2024, not announced as new developments in 2026. Typeform’s later company material identifies Choi as CEO. The cited sources do not establish Daitch’s present-day status at Rowan.
