Seattle-based Finpilot announced a $4 million seed round on February 22, 2024, led by Madrona, with participation from Ascend.vc and angel investors from leading hedge funds. Founded by CEO Lakshay Chauhan and co-founder and chairman John Alberg, the company launched a finance-focused AI research assistant. Finpilot’s public positioning has since broadened toward investment intelligence and workflow software for institutions and wealth managers.
What Finpilot announced in 2024
The financing was a $4 million seed round. Madrona led it; Ascend.vc and unnamed angels from leading hedge funds also participated, according to Finpilot’s announcement. The company said its product was entering or available in public beta at the time. That describes its 2024 launch, not necessarily how customers access the current product.
GeekWire reported that Finpilot had previously raised about $500,000. That earlier amount was reported by the publication, rather than detailed in the primary announcement.

What the original AI research assistant was designed to do
Finpilot presented its launch product as a finance-focused assistant that let analysts ask questions in ordinary language across SEC filings, financial and research reports, earnings-call transcripts, and private documents. The goal was to find and connect both numerical and textual information that might otherwise be scattered across sources.
#1 Best Overall
A central part of the pitch was traceability: Finpilot said answers linked back to source material so a user could inspect the evidence. In financial work, a number without its reporting period, unit, definition, or surrounding footnote can mislead. A citation can help an analyst check context, but it does not itself prove that an answer is complete or interpreted correctly.
Workflows described as goals
The 2024 announcement also described plans for research-report generation, company comparisons, multi-year analysis across documents, and extraction of segment information from charts and text. It discussed multi-step analysis and a personal analyst agent that could fit into existing research routines. These were announced ambitions; the funding announcement alone does not establish that each capability was independently tested or generally available.
Who founded Finpilot, and what is its Euclidean connection?
Finpilot was founded by Lakshay Chauhan, its CEO, and John Alberg, its co-founder and chairman. GeekWire described Chauhan as a longtime machine-learning engineer at Seattle investment firm Euclidean, which Alberg previously co-founded. Finpilot was reported as having spun out of Euclidean Technologies and operating independently; that origin does not establish common ownership, that Euclidean is a customer, or that Finpilot makes investment decisions. GeekWire and Madrona discussed the company’s background.

Why investors saw an opportunity in finance research
Madrona’s investment commentary described analysts’ work as gathering information from disparate sources, validating data, consolidating it into models and summaries, and producing research. The firm argued that finance places particular demands on AI because users need precision and the ability to trace claims to evidence. That is the investor’s rationale, not independent proof that Finpilot saves time or produces more accurate work than other tools.
The practical challenge is broader than reading ordinary paragraphs. Financial documents contain tables, footnotes, charts, inconsistent company labels, multiple fiscal periods, and measures that may be reported, estimated, or adjusted. A system can retrieve a plausible figure yet miss a qualifier or combine unlike periods. Human review remains important, particularly before an extracted figure reaches a model, client report, or investment decision.
How Finpilot’s product positioning has evolved
As of August 18, 2026, Finpilot’s public materials describe a broader platform aimed at institutional allocators, LPs, endowments, foundations, OCIOs, family offices, wealth managers, and RIAs. Rather than emphasizing only a public-beta research chatbot, the company now highlights work with internal manager, client, and investment documents.
Rank #3
- Research and preparation: Chat over internal documents, prepare for meetings, and generate reports.
- Comparison and extraction: Compare funds, managers, companies, fees, performance, liquidity, or strategy, and move extracted information into tools such as spreadsheets, CRMs, billing systems, or portfolio workflows.
- Organization and monitoring: Maintain a research hub for manager documents and communications, with alerts and workflow automations.
This is an evolution in the company’s public product emphasis, not evidence of a formally announced rebrand. Details appear on Finpilot’s homepage, product page, allocators and LPs page, and wealth managers and RIAs page.
Who might find it useful—and what to check
Finpilot’s current messaging is most directly aimed at organizations that need to review internal investment and manager materials across teams. That may suit an endowment, family office, allocator, or wealth-management firm more closely than a casual investor looking for a self-serve stock chatbot. A public-equity research team that needs extensive licensed market data may also need a separate research platform or data provider.
Before adopting any AI research product, buyers should test it against representative documents and workflows. Useful checks include:
- Can an answer link to the precise source passage, page, table, or footnote?
- Does it preserve fiscal periods, currencies, units, reported-versus-estimated distinctions, and non-GAAP labels?
- How well does it handle scanned PDFs, charts, tables, and conflicting documents?
- Can access permissions, audit records, retention rules, and model-training policies meet the firm’s requirements?
- Does it integrate with the team’s existing document repository, CRM, spreadsheet, or portfolio system?
- Can staff review, correct, and approve outputs before reports, alerts, or extracted data are shared?
These checks matter because citations can still omit interpretive context, similar entity names can be confused, and an incorrect extraction can propagate through an automated workflow. A vendor’s claim about accuracy or productivity is not a substitute for testing on the buyer’s own materials.

The right comparison depends on the job. General enterprise assistants such as ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude for Business, and Microsoft 365 Copilot may fit broader knowledge work or an organization’s existing software ecosystem. AlphaSense is more closely associated with public-company research and market intelligence, while Hebbia is relevant to matrix-style analysis across large document sets.

What is publicly known about pricing and vendor claims
Finpilot’s public pages are demo-led, and no public self-serve price list was visible as of August 18, 2026. An institutional buyer should ask for a demonstration using representative documents, clarify integrations and data policies, and request evidence for any performance figures relevant to the purchase.
Finpilot’s website makes claims about workflow speed, research capacity, manual data entry, meeting preparation, and hallucination rates. Those are company marketing claims, not independently validated measurements established by the funding announcement. Its security page also describes protections including SOC 2 Type II, SSO, encryption, auditability, and a policy against training on customer data; buyers should review the company’s current documentation and contractual terms rather than treating website statements as an independent certification. See Finpilot’s security page and FAQ.
