Fido’s $34-per-month, 60GB add-a-line offer was real—but it was a targeted promotion reported on November 6, 2024, not a standard plan available to every customer. The reported deal applied a $20 monthly discount to a $54/60GB plan for some existing Fido customers. As of August 16, 2026, Fido’s public pages confirm that account-specific add-a-line offers exist, but they do not publicly verify that this exact promotion is still available.
If you are considering it, check your logged-in Fido account and review the complete offer—not just the $34 headline—before accepting.
What was the Fido $34/60GB offer?
The promotion was reported by MobileSyrup on November 6, 2024. It offered some existing Fido customers an additional mobile line with 60GB of data for $34 per month.
According to that report, the offer was structured as Fido’s $54/60GB plan with a $20 monthly discount. Contemporary coverage also described it as a Canada-U.S. plan. Those descriptions do not establish that every customer received the same terms, or that the plan included every type of U.S. calling, texting, roaming and data benefit.

The key distinction is that this was an account-targeted add-a-line offer. It was not evidence that Fido had made $34/60GB a universally available public plan.
Who might qualify?
Fido determines add-a-line eligibility at the account level. Potential factors include:
- Whether you are already a Fido customer.
- Your account standing and credit approval.
- The number of lines already on the account.
- Whether you are adding a genuinely new line rather than changing an existing line.
- Your province or market.
- Whether you bring your own device or finance a phone.
- Whether the promotion is still active or has been replaced.
Fido says customers may be able to add between one and seven lines, depending on credit-check results and account standing. That general policy does not guarantee access to the $34/60GB promotion.

How to check whether your account has the offer
Fido says exclusive offers are frequently available when customers add a line online through My Account. Use this process:

- Open the mobile-service or account section.
- Select Add a line.
- Choose the applicable existing-account or bring-your-own-device option.
- Review the plans displayed for your account.
- Open the full plan details before accepting.
- Save a screenshot or download the offer information.
Fido also says customers can add a line through customer service or a store. However, an agent or retailer may show different offers, and contacting Fido does not guarantee that the $34 price can be added to your account.
If the offer is missing, it may be expired, restricted to certain accounts or markets, limited to a particular activation method, or replaced by a newer promotion.

The advertised amount should be treated as the monthly service price before taxes and possible additional charges unless the offer explicitly says otherwise. Before accepting, confirm all of the following:
- Whether the $20 credit is permanent or expires after a stated period.
- Whether the discount requires Auto-Pay or another account condition.
- Whether the price applies only to the added line.
- Whether the discount remains if the primary line is changed or cancelled.
- Whether device financing is billed separately.
- Whether activation, connection, SIM, eSIM or shipping charges apply.
- Whether provincial 9-1-1 fees, taxes and other regulatory charges are extra.
- Whether the first bill will include prorated service or one-time charges.
The reported $34 price came from a $54 plan minus a $20 monthly credit. That makes the credit’s conditions and duration just as important as the headline rate.
Does it include Canada-U.S. service?
Contemporaneous reports described the offer as Canada-U.S., but that label alone is not specific enough to determine the benefits. Depending on the plan, Canada-U.S. features can refer to different combinations of:

- Using included data in the United States.
- Roaming in the United States without a daily fee.
Read the actual offer and agreement for the new line. Fido’s travel guidance says use outside the Fido network can trigger roaming charges and recommends reviewing roaming options before travelling. Do not assume that a Canada-U.S. name automatically means full U.S. data roaming.

Hotspot may cost extra
Hotspot access is an important caveat. A Fido forum moderator confirmed that a $5 monthly hotspot charge applied to the reported promotion. Fido’s current add-ons page lists mobile-hotspot access at $5 per month, while also displaying a separate $0 promotion for some new activations. That newer promotion may not apply to an older or targeted offer.
In practical terms, a $34 plan could cost about $39 per month before taxes if hotspot is required and the $5 charge applies. Fido’s hotspot support information also indicates that hotspot use draws from the plan’s data allowance.
What about 5G, speed and data protection?
Do not assume that 60GB means 5G access. The original reporting identified the underlying $54/60GB plan, but the network generation and speed terms should be verified in the individual offer.
Check whether the plan specifies:
- LTE or 5G access.
- Maximum download and upload speeds.
- Network-management or reduced-speed policies.
- Any tethering speed limits.
- Whether the 60GB is individual to the new line or shared.
- Whether Data Overage Protection is included.
Fido’s general plan information says tethering may be subject to reduced speeds and discusses Data Overage Protection, which can pause data after the included allowance is used. These general terms do not replace the conditions shown for the targeted offer.

Can you move an existing number to it?
The reported promotion focused on adding a line. It should not be assumed that an existing Fido number can simply be switched to $34/60GB.
Fido says an existing number can be brought to a new line, but customers adding a line online may need to call customer service to transfer the number. Before proceeding, ask whether the number will be treated as a new activation and whether porting affects the promotion.
Do not cancel the old line first. Cancellation could remove a multi-line discount, invalidate the new-line credit or create a gap during the transfer. Porting and changing lines can also produce prorated charges across billing cycles.

Fido allows customers adding a line to bring their own device or select a new phone, including certified pre-owned devices. A compatible unlocked phone can help keep the cost close to the advertised service price, while a financed phone adds a separate monthly device payment.

Fido says adding a line itself is free, but that does not prove every activation-related cost is zero. Confirm whether the transaction includes SIM or eSIM charges, shipping, connection fees, device payments or other one-time costs.

Fido’s add-a-line FAQ describes a 15-calendar-day cancellation or return window for certain purchases. The process and conditions depend on whether the transaction was completed online, in a store or through the call centre. Ask specifically:
- Whether a financed phone must be returned.
- Whether usage, restocking or shipping charges apply.
- Whether the number can be ported back successfully.
- Whether cancelling the new line affects discounts on other lines.
Availability note: is the deal still active?
Availability as of August 16, 2026: The $34/60GB promotion was reported in November 2024. Fido’s public support information confirms that exclusive add-a-line offers can appear inside customer accounts, but the specific $34/60GB promotion was not publicly verified as a current standard offer.
Therefore, treat the deal as historical unless it appears in your logged-in account or Fido provides current written terms for your account. A screenshot from 2024, a forum post or an old news article does not prove that the same offer can be activated today.

- Is the $34 price permanent or promotional?
- How long does the $20 monthly credit last?
- Does the credit remain if the primary line changes?
- Is the new line eligible for 5G?
- Is hotspot included, and if not, what is the current monthly charge?
- Does “Canada-U.S.” include U.S. data roaming?
- Are calls and texts while in the United States included?
- Are taxes, 9-1-1 fees, device payments or activation charges extra?
- Is the offer BYOD-only?
- Can an existing number be ported onto the new line?
- What happens to the discount if the new line is cancelled?
- Can the plan be changed or upgraded later without losing the credit?
Should you take the offer?
It may be a good fit if:
- You already have a Fido account and genuinely need another line.
- You can use a compatible phone you already own.
- The $20 credit’s duration is clearly documented.
- The offer includes the Canada-U.S. benefits you actually need.
- You do not need hotspot, or you have confirmed that the extra $5 is acceptable.
- The full bill remains competitive after taxes, fees and device payments.
Be cautious if:
- You are adding a line only to obtain a low advertised price.
- The credit is temporary or conditional.
- Hotspot is essential to your work or travel.
- You need 5G but the offer does not specify it.
- You are relying on U.S. roaming without seeing explicit voice, text and data terms.
- Financing a phone makes the total monthly cost substantially higher.
- Moving or cancelling a line could affect discounts elsewhere on the account.
Compare the complete monthly bill, not just the $34 service price. If the offer does not appear in My Account, do not assume that another customer’s screenshot or an older article means Fido must provide it.
