No complete list of Canadian mobile-plan changes for August 25–31, 2026 can be verified from the available evidence. The supplied carrier and regulatory information was current only to August 18, before the target week began. The earlier Rogers, Virgin Plus, Public Mobile and TELUS Prepaid developments below are useful context, but they should not be presented as changes made during August 25–31.

What the earlier changes mean
Rogers and Fido: a bill adjustment, not a universal August price change
Rogers told some wireless customers that their monthly cost would rise by $5 plus tax. The amount appeared as a separate Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment line on bills beginning with the next bill issued on or after July 15, 2026. The CRTC subsequently asked Rogers for information about the adjustment.
This does not establish that every Rogers or Fido customer paid $5 more, nor that every plan sold during August cost $5 more. Customers should check their own bill, service agreement and account-specific plan details. The CRTC inquiry is not a ruling that the increase was cancelled, approved or unlawful. Virgin Plus reportedly increased several in-market plan prices by $5 per month on July 3. Reported examples included $45 for 20GB, $50 for 60GB and $55 for a Canada-U.S.-Mexico plan. These figures were July examples, not confirmed August 25–31 prices.

The reported change applied to plans available to new or changing customers. Existing subscribers were not automatically affected simply because the in-market price changed. Before switching, check whether a new plan removes grandfathered credits, promotional pricing or other benefits. The July reporting is available from MobileSyrup.
Public Mobile: the 10GB 4G plan moved to $28
Public Mobile reportedly raised its 10GB 4G plan from $26 to $28 on July 21. The surrounding July lineup was reported as $22 for talk and text, $24 for 5GB, $28 for 10GB and $30 for 35GB.
Those amounts should not be treated as the confirmed August 25–31 lineup without checking the live plan page. The reported July change is documented by iPhone in Canada.

TELUS Prepaid: new activations moved to Koodo Prepaid
TELUS stopped accepting new activations under the TELUS Prepaid brand as of July 1, 2026. Existing TELUS Prepaid customers were not reported as losing service and could continue managing their accounts through TELUS. New prepaid customers were directed to Koodo Prepaid. This was an activation and brand-availability change, not a confirmed August rate-plan increase. See TELUS’s prepaid page.
Fees that should not be confused with plan prices
The CRTC is examining fees that may create barriers to switching. The proceeding mentions Bell’s $40 device-handling charge, TELUS’s $15 SIM/eSIM fee, Rogers’s $40 device setup charge, Rogers’s $25 online device-shipping charge and an unspecified Rogers SIM fee. These references do not prove that a fee was introduced or changed during August 25–31.
Similarly, Bell’s plan page lists provincial 9-1-1 fee changes effective August 1, including New Brunswick rising from $0.97 to $2.59 per month and Saskatchewan rising from $2.17 to $2.22. These are government-related charges passed through where applicable, not ordinary carrier rate-plan increases. See the CRTC fee proceeding and Bell’s fee disclosures.

How to check whether your own bill changed
- Compare the current monthly service charge with your original service agreement.
- Look for a separate adjustment, regulatory fee, SIM/eSIM charge or device-related fee.
- Check whether an autopay discount or promotional credit offsets part of the increase.
- Confirm when the change takes effect in your billing cycle.
- Check whether changing plans would remove a grandfathered benefit, price guarantee, device credit or roaming feature.
- Save the new plan’s terms before accepting a change.
A public plan page normally shows an in-market offer, not necessarily the price or benefits attached to an existing customer’s account. A customer may therefore see an older plan online while receiving a bill adjustment. Conversely, someone may not see an increase because the change applies only to new activations, a particular province, a billing cycle or a targeted customer group.
Before switching
Compare the full recurring cost rather than the headline price:
Effective monthly cost = advertised monthly price + mandatory recurring fees − guaranteed discounts.

Keep taxes separate, and confirm whether the advertised price requires bank-account autopay rather than credit-card autopay. Also check:
- full-speed data and the reduced-speed policy after the high-speed allotment;
- Canada-only versus Canada-U.S. or Canada-U.S.-Mexico roaming;
- hotspot, international calling and texting allowances;
- activation, SIM/eSIM, shipping and device-handling charges;
- promotional-credit expiry dates;
- device financing, tab or MyTab obligations; and
- regional coverage and postal-code eligibility.
Rogers says a plan change can take effect immediately, create prorated charges and make an old, unavailable plan impossible to recover. Freedom warns that a plan-change fee may apply and that changing plans can affect MyTab terms. Bell says changing services can affect a five-year price guarantee or remove promotional credits. Review the provider’s current terms before completing the change.

A proper weekly roundup needs dated checks of Rogers, Fido, Chatr, Bell, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile, TELUS, Koodo, Public Mobile, Freedom Mobile, Videotron, Fizz, SaskTel, Eastlink, Bell MTS, Northwestel, No Name Mobile and SpeakOut. Each material entry should identify the exact price, data allowance, roaming terms, region, effective date, end date and affected customers.

Temporary back-to-school discounts, bonus data, handset financing and trade-in credits should be separated from permanent plan changes. A phone promotion is not automatically a rate-plan change, and a targeted win-back offer is not a generally available public plan.
