No—new claims are not currently open. The Canadian iPhone power-management settlement was real, but the court-approved notice set September 2, 2024 as the deadline for claim forms and supporting documents. The notice warned that late submissions might not be accepted. As of August 18, 2026, it provides no indication that a new claim window has reopened. If you already filed, contact the official administrator about your claim’s status.
Which settlement is this?
“Batterygate” refers to the controversy over Apple software updates and iPhone power management. The Canadian class proceedings alleged that performance-mitigation features introduced through updates affected certain phones, including allegations involving battery degradation, unexpected shutdowns and inadequate disclosure. Apple denied the allegations. The settlement was approved by the British Columbia Supreme Court on March 4, 2024, without an admission of liability, wrongdoing or fault by Apple. This was not a finding that Apple intentionally slowed every iPhone or acted unlawfully. It was a settlement resolving the claims in the Canadian proceedings.

Who was covered by the Canadian settlement?
The class generally covered individuals and corporate or natural persons domiciled in Canada, excluding Quebec residents as of June 15, 2023, who purchased and/or owned one or more of these models and had installed or downloaded the specified software by December 21, 2017:

Simply having owned an iPhone was not enough: the model, residency and software-history conditions mattered. The notice also excluded certain people, including Apple personnel, some legal representatives, members of the judiciary involved in the matter, and people whose claims had already been finally adjudicated. Estates and certain representatives, heirs or beneficiaries were addressed in the class definition, subject to its conditions.
How much was the settlement worth—and was C$150 guaranteed?
Apple agreed to contribute between C$11,137,500 and C$14,427,500. The notice did not promise a fixed amount for every approved claimant. Individual payments depended on the number of approved claims and deductions from the settlement fund, including legal fees and administration costs.

The notice allowed for pro-rata adjustments if the settlement total and claims differed from specified thresholds. In the circumstances where a distribution could be increased, the increase was capped at C$150 per device. That was not a guaranteed payment, nor a promise that each claimant would receive C$150. Payments could also be reduced pro rata if approved claims and expenses exceeded the maximum fund. Legal fees of 25% of the minimum settlement amount, plus applicable expenses, taxes and disbursements, as well as administration expenses and certain honorariums, were to be paid from the fund before distribution.

How the claim process worked (historical)
During the claims period, eligible class members were directed to the settlement administrator’s website to review instructions and submit a claim. The administrator required information and supporting documentation, including the iPhone serial number or numbers. Forms could also be submitted by mail or courier. All required forms and supporting documents had to be received by September 2, 2024. These are the historical steps, not an application route available now.

People preparing claims at the time might have looked for serial numbers or records in original packaging, receipts, purchase or repair records, device backups, account records, or Apple support correspondence. The notice does not establish that any particular substitute would be accepted in place of its requirements, and finding a serial number now does not reopen the deadline.
Already filed? Contact the administrator directly
The court-appointed administrator was Epiq Class Action Services Canada Inc. The notice does not provide a current payment schedule or distribution-status update, so it would be unsafe to assume a final payout, payment date, approval rate or appeal option. Check that settlement-related messages match the official domain and administrator details. Do not pay an upfront fee, give an intermediary control of your Apple Account, or send serial numbers, banking details or identity documents through an unfamiliar claim website. Be wary of unsolicited texts or emails promising a guaranteed payment.

Do not confuse it with another Apple settlement
A separate Canadian Apple gift-card class action concerns alleged losses involving gift-card scams; it is not the iPhone power-management case. Its rules and status are different. See the gift-card settlement FAQ for that proceeding. A recycled story about the Batterygate claim window should not be treated as evidence that claims are open again.

What the settlement means for class members
The court-approved notice says the settlement released claims asserted or that could have been asserted in the class proceedings once approved, and the class actions were dismissed. It describes the settlement as the means of compensation for those claims, whether or not an individual class member filed for compensation.
