Blockaid announced a $50 million Series B on February 18, 2025, led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from GV, Variant and Cyberstarts. SecurityWeek reported that the round brought the company’s total capital raised to $83 million. The funding was earmarked for research, engineering, product development and go-to-market expansion—not for a consumer cryptocurrency product.
Blockaid sells security infrastructure for onchain applications. Its tools analyze transactions and decentralized applications before execution, monitor activity and help organizations block or investigate scams, exploits and fraud. The announcement is a February 2025 event; Blockaid’s public positioning had broadened by August 2026.

Blockaid said the proceeds would expand its research and development, engineering, product and go-to-market teams. The company’s announcement linked the raise to growing demand from crypto-native businesses and traditional institutions entering onchain markets. Investor participation signals financing support, but it does not independently prove that the platform has eliminated blockchain security risk.

Why blockchain applications need more than ledger security
A blockchain can preserve the integrity of its ledger while users still lose money through unsafe applications and interactions. The practical attack surface includes:
- Phishing sites and fake token claims.
- Wallet drainers and malicious token approvals.
- Blind signing, where a wallet user cannot understand the resulting action.
- Smart-contract bugs and compromised application front ends.
- Address-poisoning and social-engineering scams.
- Illicit transactions, insider abuse and operational mistakes.
These are different problems from securing consensus or auditing source code. Application security, transaction interpretation, fraud detection, threat intelligence, monitoring, policy enforcement and incident response each address a different failure point.
How Blockaid’s platform is intended to work
Pre-signature transaction analysis
Blockaid describes transaction simulation that estimates what a signed transaction is likely to do before it is submitted. A wallet or application can use that result to warn a user or stop the action. This is different from a smart-contract audit: an audit reviews code and design, while simulation evaluates a particular interaction and its expected effects.

Its public platform descriptions cover verdicts for transactions, decentralized applications, tokens and addresses, along with detection of scams, fraud, exploits and suspicious behavior. Blockaid’s end-user-protection page says verdicts are designed for sub-300-millisecond latency. That is a company-supplied product claim, not an independently verified benchmark.

Monitoring, policy and response
Current public positioning also includes monitoring of assets, addresses, protocols and onchain activity; rules that can block or escalate risky actions; and investigation workflows for understanding exposure and potential losses. The platform is marketed to wallets, dApps, exchanges, chains, protocols and institutional operators. See Blockaid’s platform description, end-user protection page and asset-security page.
Who uses or evaluates the technology?
The contemporaneous 2025 coverage named Coinbase, MetaMask, Uniswap, Starknet, Safe and Immutable as customers or integration references. That does not establish that every relationship has the same commercial terms or scope.
By August 2026, Blockaid’s website described use cases for wallets, dApps, decentralized and centralized exchanges, chains, protocols, banks and hedge funds. Those are categories the company says it serves; they should not automatically be read as a complete list of paying customers. Exchange-focused material is available at Blockaid’s CEX page.

| Company-reported measure | Figure | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Assets secured | More than $101 billion | Aggregate claimed by Blockaid as of the announcement |
| Potential losses prevented | More than $5.3 billion | “Potential” losses are not independently audited money saved |
| Transactions scanned | More than 2.4 billion | Company-reported volume |
| dApp connections protected | More than 787 million | Company-reported count |
| Attacks detected and blocked | More than 71 million | The announcement does not establish an independently validated incident-count methodology |
SecurityWeek reported the 71-million, 787-million and $5.3-billion figures. These numbers indicate scale, not a guarantee that a particular transaction is safe or that equivalent losses would otherwise have occurred.
What the funding means for the market
Wallets and applications increasingly need a security check before a signature is finalized. Institutions add requirements for monitoring, audit trails, policy controls and incident response. A provider embedded in those workflows can become infrastructure rather than an optional warning screen. That may explain the appeal of expanding research, integrations and go-to-market coverage.
It does not mean the raise proves product-market fit, nor that Blockaid has solved smart-contract vulnerabilities, phishing or governance risk. Security controls reduce risk; they do not remove the need for secure development, user education and operational discipline.

How buyers should evaluate Blockaid or a similar service
Coverage and detection
- Which chains, virtual machines, tokens, contracts and transaction types are supported?
- What are measured false-positive and false-negative rates?
- How are newly deployed contracts and novel attacks handled?
Latency and integration
- What are median and worst-case response times under load?
- Is integration available through an API, SDK, RPC, wallet or backend?
- Can alerts, webhooks, policies and block actions connect to existing systems?
Operations, privacy and commercial terms
- Can teams investigate incidents, retain evidence and export audit logs?
- What wallet, transaction, IP or user data is collected, where is it processed, and how long is it retained?
- Are contracts priced by usage, seats, coverage or a hybrid, and what support and service-level terms apply?
Blockaid publishes no standard price list in the cited materials and directs organizations to request a demo, indicating a sales-led enterprise process. That may suit exchanges or institutions, but it is less convenient for small developers seeking transparent self-serve pricing.

Alternatives are adjacent, not identical
| Category | Representative providers | Primary focus |
|---|---|---|
| Onchain intelligence and compliance | Chainalysis; TRM Labs | Tracing, attribution, investigations, sanctions and risk workflows |
| Threat monitoring network | Forta | Community-operated detection and monitoring |
| Wallet transaction protection | Blowfish | Simulation and user-facing warnings |
| Smart-contract security | OpenZeppelin | Audits, developer tooling and contract security infrastructure |
These providers are not direct substitutes in every deployment. A contract audit does not provide live fraud monitoring, and an intelligence platform may not deliver a pre-signature wallet warning. Pricing for the alternatives depends on scope and should be confirmed with each vendor.
Failure modes to plan for
- Simulation limits: Later state changes, oracle updates, timing conditions or external dependencies may produce a different outcome.
- Time-of-check risk: A contract or front end can change between the verdict and execution.
- Coverage gaps: Unsupported networks or transaction types may have no verdict or weaker detection.
- Human manipulation: A legitimate-looking transaction can still be harmful when a user is socially engineered.
- False confidence: “Safe” is a risk assessment, not insurance.
- Operational bypass: Excessive allowlisting, disabled warnings or emergency exceptions can defeat controls.
- Centralization costs: A third-party service introduces availability, privacy, vendor-lock-in and possible censorship concerns.
Blockaid’s resources discuss bypasses and timing-related attack classes. Buyers should therefore test controls against realistic incidents instead of relying solely on a headline verdict.
Current status
The financing event remains a February 18, 2025 announcement. As of August 2026, Blockaid’s public website presents a broader platform spanning transaction security, monitoring, fraud prevention, policy-driven protection, exchange security and institutional use cases. Those later capabilities should not be read back into the original announcement as if they were all established at the time of the raise.
