Neowin included its report on a 12-month Microsoft 365 Personal subscription in its November 26, 2023, Black Friday coverage, but the available record does not verify the sale price, retailer, or terms. As of August 2026, Microsoft lists Personal at $99.99 per year or $9.99 per month in the U.S. Check for a current promotion separately; do not rely on the old headline as a price quote.
What the Black Friday deal record confirms
The original Neowin deal headline described a 12-month Microsoft 365 Personal subscription as being at an “all-time low.” Its November 26, 2023 newsletter confirms the article was part of Black Friday deal coverage. However, the deal page is not currently accessible, and the available record does not establish the exact price, retailer, discount, eligibility, redemption method, or expiry date.
That means there is no sound basis to repeat a specific historical price or to independently call it the lowest price ever. Treat “all-time low” as a claim in the original deal coverage, not a verified price-history finding. The offer should be understood as historical, not available for purchase now.

Microsoft’s U.S. Microsoft 365 Personal page lists the plan at $99.99 annually or $9.99 monthly. Twelve monthly payments at that listed rate total $119.88 before tax, or $19.89 more than the annual price. Prices can change, so check the checkout page before buying.

If you find a current 12-month offer, assess it as a new promotion rather than assuming it repeats the 2023 deal. Confirm the precise edition is Personal, who sells it, whether it is a digital code or direct subscription, where it can be redeemed, when the code expires, whether existing subscribers can use or extend it, and what price applies after the term. Stacking and redemption rules depend on the specific offer; do not assume a code will extend an active subscription. Prefer Microsoft or a reputable authorized retailer, and be cautious of unusually cheap marketplace codes with unclear licensing, region, refund, or account terms.
What Microsoft 365 Personal includes
Personal is a subscription for one person. Microsoft says it supports sign-in on up to five devices at once and works across PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, subject to platform and feature availability. The bundle includes desktop and mobile Microsoft 365 apps and services such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, along with 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Copilot is a benefit, not unlimited AI access: availability varies by feature, platform, and language, and usage limits apply. Personal’s AI benefits are for the subscriber rather than something freely shared with other people. Check the Copilot subscription FAQ for current conditions.
Is Personal worth paying for?
It is most compelling for one person who regularly uses desktop Word, Excel, or PowerPoint and will make real use of the 1 TB OneDrive allowance or other included services. It also suits someone who values continuing feature updates and access across different device types. Compare any deal with the current annual price and the renewal price, not just the advertised first-year discount.

It is a weaker fit if you edit documents only occasionally, do not need cloud storage, or do not want a recurring bill. Free web-based productivity tools may be enough for light use. If you mainly want installed Office apps and prefer to pay once, compare Office 2024 with Microsoft 365: Office 2024 is a one-time purchase, while Microsoft 365 is a subscription with ongoing updates and services. It does not provide the same subscription bundle, including the 1 TB OneDrive entitlement.
Personal or Family?
Personal is for one person. Microsoft 365 Family is designed for up to six people and provides 1 TB of storage per person. For a household where at least two people need the apps or storage, compare the Family plan’s total cost with the cost of separate subscriptions; a large Personal discount does not automatically make it the better household choice. If only one person will use the plan, Family may be unnecessary.

Renewal, cancellation, and OneDrive storage
A discounted first year does not lock in that price permanently. Microsoft subscriptions automatically renew unless recurring billing is turned off, and the next term is billed at the price shown for the selected plan. Before redeeming an offer, note its renewal terms. In your Microsoft account, open the services and subscriptions area and review the next billing date and price; turn off recurring billing if you do not want another charge.
