Amazon, Oracle, Coinbase and Palantir were among the technology companies identified as sponsors of programming around the U.S. Army’s June 14, 2025, 250th Birthday Parade in Washington, D.C. That does not mean they paid for the tanks, soldiers or military operation: the sponsorships supported parade-related festivities, while the military component was primarily publicly funded. The exact contribution from each company—and the full terms of the sponsorships—were not publicly clear.
What the companies sponsored
The event brought together several things that are easy to blur: an official Army anniversary parade, a festival and spectator experience, and President Donald Trump’s birthday celebration. The parade marked the Army’s 250th anniversary; the Army was founded in 1775. It took place on Trump’s 79th birthday, June 14, 2025, and was presented amid a broader national anniversary effort leading to the United States’ semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.
America250 sponsor materials and contemporary reporting connected corporate sponsors to the anniversary programming and public-facing celebration around the parade. That is a more precise description than saying the companies “paid for Trump’s parade.” The soldiers, vehicles, aircraft, security and other operational elements belonged to a military event whose costs were primarily borne by government resources. Sponsorship of a nearby festival or related programming is not proof a company paid for military equipment or the Army’s deployment. The Verge’s reporting describes the distinction between sponsors and the military operation.

The roster included companies from different industries. Calling all of them “Big Tech” obscures both what they do and why their interests might differ.

| Company or group | Category | Why the distinction matters |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon and Oracle | Technology and cloud | Both sell substantial technology services, including services relevant to government computing. |
| Palantir Technologies | Data and defense technology | Its business includes data-analysis tools used in government and national-security settings. |
| Coinbase | Cryptocurrency | Its central policy interests include the rules governing digital assets and crypto markets. |
| Exiger | Risk-management and supply-chain technology | It is a specialized technology company, not a household-name consumer platform. |
| Lockheed Martin | Defense contractor | It was a prominent sponsor, but is not ordinarily categorized as Big Tech. |
| Other reported participants | Consumer, logistics and entertainment | Reports also named organizations and brands including UFC, FedEx, Scotts Miracle-Gro, Walmart, Coca-Cola and Stellantis brands. |
Contemporary reports described a broad sponsor group, not a technology-only coalition. A sponsor listing indicates association with the programming; without a disclosed contract or payment record, it does not establish what each organization contributed or exactly what it received in return.
What did sponsors get?
The apparent benefits were primarily public recognition and association with a high-profile national celebration: sponsor listings, visibility on event materials, and acknowledgments connected to the festival or event. The Associated Press reported that Coinbase was thanked publicly during the parade. That is evidence of sponsor recognition, not evidence that the company bought a government decision or received special treatment.
Publicly available reporting does not establish the precise benefits promised to every sponsor, whether any contribution was cash or in-kind support, or whether sponsors received private access beyond ordinary event recognition. Those are material details when evaluating a sponsorship tied to a presidentially prominent event.

The money: several figures, different scopes
There is no single figure in the available reporting that can responsibly be described as “what Big Tech paid for the parade.” Reported numbers refer to different budgets and activities:
- About $885,000: One account cited this as sponsorship funding for the festival. It is not a disclosed company-by-company tally, and it should not be treated as the cost of the military parade.
- $25 million to $45 million: Reported or estimated ranges for the parade’s overall cost vary according to what expenses are counted. These are estimates of a broader military operation, not a measure of corporate festival sponsorship.
- More than $30 million: Later coverage described money routed through the America250 nonprofit for a wider set of Trump-linked events. That broader figure is not necessarily corporate sponsorship revenue, nor does it equate to the direct cost of the June parade.
- About $849,000: Later reporting cited a fundraising fee and commission recorded by America250 for related programs. That accounting item is not the same thing as sponsor contributions or parade costs.
These amounts cannot be added together or compared as if they describe the same pot of money. They concern different time periods, organizations and scopes. Available reporting does not provide a verified, sponsor-by-sponsor ledger showing the cash and in-kind contributions, restrictions on their use, or the exact final cost of each component. A fact-check examining the reported figures likewise distinguishes the estimates and funding categories.
Why participate? Business interests are context, not proof of a deal
For companies that depend on federal sales or operate in heavily regulated markets, a relationship with the administration can matter. Amazon and Oracle have cloud and government-technology businesses; Palantir has deep exposure to government and national-security work; Coinbase has a direct interest in crypto policy. Technology firms also have stakes in artificial-intelligence rules, antitrust enforcement, privacy, immigration technology, export controls and federal procurement.

Those interests make sponsorship worth scrutinizing, but they do not establish that a contribution purchased access, a contract or a policy outcome. Technology executives and companies more broadly sought closer ties with Trump around the 2024 election and his January 2025 inauguration, as the Associated Press reported. That broader political realignment is relevant context; it is not evidence that a particular parade sponsorship was transactional.
The sensible questions are specific: Was money paid or support provided in kind? Was it restricted to the festival? What recognition or access did the sponsor receive? Did the company have pending federal business or policy matters before the administration? Were the terms disclosed? Without records answering those questions, claims of a quid pro quo go beyond the evidence.
Meta’s status is not settled
Meta should not be presented as a confirmed payer. Reporting said America250 listed Meta as a high-level sponsor before its logo was later removed from the sponsor page after journalists asked about the listing. The available reporting does not establish whether Meta paid, provided in-kind support, withdrew, or was listed in error. A changed webpage alone cannot resolve which explanation is correct.

America250 and the anniversary politics
America250’s remit was planning for the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Its role in the parade-related events became politically contentious, in part because a national anniversary can be presented as a bipartisan civic project while a particular event is closely identified with a president. Reporting identified former Treasury Secretary Rosie Rios and former Trump campaign co-manager Chris LaCivita among the organization’s leadership.
It is also important not to collapse every anniversary effort into one entity. The congressional anniversary commission, nonprofit fundraising and event-production arrangements around the 2025 parade, and later administration-associated “Freedom 250” efforts are related in subject matter but are not automatically the same organization, budget or funding stream. Later reporting about 2026 events should not be retroactively treated as proof of who financed the 2025 parade.

What the sponsorship does—and does not—show
The unusual sight was a military commemoration accompanied by corporate recognition, on a day that was also the president’s birthday. Critics viewed the combination as an overly personalized use of a military anniversary; officially, the parade commemorated the Army’s 250th birthday. Both the official purpose and the political context matter when assessing why the sponsorship drew attention.

The evidence supports a bounded conclusion: technology and technology-adjacent companies were among the sponsors of the public celebration surrounding the parade, alongside defense and consumer businesses. Public funding supported the military operation, and the available disclosures do not show exactly how much each sponsor paid or whether any sponsor received anything beyond recognition and event-related benefits. Sponsorship raises fair transparency and conflict-of-interest questions, particularly for companies doing business with the federal government, but it is not by itself proof of a bribe, illegal contribution or purchased favor.
For readers following the money, keep separate the festival sponsorships, Army operational spending, America250’s broader fundraising, and unrelated inauguration or political payments. Treating them as one total creates a misleading picture of who paid for what.
