The best Galaxy S24 Ultra value in the U.S. is currently a reputable restored or refurbished unlocked 256GB phone around $550–$575. A 512GB model around $630–$700 is often the smarter long-term buy. Treat 1TB listings near $800 cautiously, because a newer Galaxy Ultra may offer a longer support runway for similar money.
This is no longer a normal flagship-shopping market: Samsung’s certified-renewed S24 page showed no stock when checked on August 18, 2026, and Samsung’s December 2024 price file labels the original S24 Ultra lineup EOL. Most available inventory is therefore marketplace refurbished, restored, open-box or used rather than factory-sealed new stock.

For most buyers, target a U.S. unlocked 256GB model (SM-S928U or SM-S928U1) for roughly $550–$575. That is a substantial discount from the original $1,299.99 unlocked 256GB MSRP listed by Samsung, while retaining the S Pen, cameras and premium hardware that make the S24 Ultra attractive.

The lowest sticker price is not automatically the best deal. A slightly more expensive phone from a seller with a defined condition grade, usable return period, clean IMEI and warranty can cost less than a bargain device with a weak battery, replacement display or carrier lock. Compare the checkout total, not a retailer’s “save $725” comparison figure; Best Buy’s displayed savings may use an original MSRP or internal reference value rather than today’s market price.

Is a new S24 Ultra still available?
Possibly as isolated retailer old stock, but there is no evidence here of dependable current factory-sealed inventory. “New,” “open-box,” “certified refurbished,” “restored” and “used” are different categories:

Because storage cannot be expanded with a microSD card, 512GB is worth considering when it costs only about $75–$125 more than 256GB. A 1TB S24 Ultra near $800 should be compared directly with current-generation phones rather than with its original MSRP.

Use the exact listing, not a generic search result, whenever possible. Confirm who sold and shipped the phone and whether marketplace buyer protection covers a device that is not as described.

Are carrier deals worth it?
Carrier pages can remain online after a model is no longer a meaningful current-stock product. AT&T still has an S24 Ultra product page, but its current comparison area emphasizes newer S26 devices and offers tied to plans, new lines, trade-ins and bill credits. Samsung’s current carrier page likewise promotes newer devices.
Only count a carrier offer after confirming:
- Actual S24 Ultra stock and whether it is new, used or renewed.
- Required plan tier, new-line or port-in rule and eligible trade-in.
- Credit duration (often 24 or 36 months) and what happens if you leave early.
- Activation, upgrade, connection and installment fees.
- Taxes charged on the pre-credit price and the device-unlock policy.
Compare total ownership cost:
device price + tax + shipping + fees + required service − guaranteed trade-in − guaranteed credits
For example, a $575 unlocked phone may beat a “free” carrier phone if the latter requires an expensive unlimited plan for 36 months. A carrier promotion can still win for an existing customer who already needs that plan and will stay through the entire credit period.

How to avoid a bad S24 Ultra deal
Before paying
- Confirm the model number. Prefer SM-S928U (U.S. carrier model) or SM-S928U1 (U.S. unlocked). International variants can have different bands, firmware, warranty and Samsung Wallet or eSIM behavior.
- Get the IMEI and check that it is clean, not financed and genuinely unlocked for your carrier. Never rely on “works everywhere” wording; MVNOs may require registration.
- Read the condition definition and battery guarantee. Ask whether the display, battery and cameras are original.
- Check included accessories: S Pen, USB cable, charger, SIM tool and original packaging.
- Review the seller identity, return window, warranty provider and buyer-protection process.
- Use a reversible payment method for private sales; avoid irreversible transfers.
Test immediately inside the return window
- Display: dead pixels, burn-in, green tint and touch response.
- S Pen: insertion, writing, hovering and remote functions.
- Cameras: autofocus, zoom, video and stabilization.
- USB-C, fast charging and wireless charging.
- Speakers, microphones, fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and cellular data.
- Physical SIM and eSIM activation on your intended carrier.
- Battery drain, overheating and unexpected restarts.

A price far below the roughly $550 market floor for a restored 256GB unit deserves extra scrutiny. It may indicate a carrier lock, blacklisted IMEI, missing S Pen, non-original screen, damaged frame, weak battery, imported model or a lower condition tier.
Should you buy the S24 Ultra or a newer Ultra?
Buy the S24 Ultra when the discount is substantial, you specifically want its S Pen and hardware, and the remaining software-support period meets your needs. Consider an S25 Ultra or S26 Ultra when the S24 Ultra approaches current-generation pricing, you want a longer support horizon, or the “deal” requires a costly carrier plan.
AT&T’s current comparison area lists the S26 at $899.99 and S26 Ultra at $1,299.99 before applicable offers. That context makes an S24 Ultra at $800–$900 difficult to justify unless it is a 1TB model with exceptional condition and warranty. Compare total device-and-service cost, not just monthly installments.
