Presidents’ Day 2025 was Monday, February 17. The strongest laptop bargains reported during that holiday period included the M3 MacBook Air at $899, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x at $799, the HP Envy 16 at $449, and an Acer Nitro V gaming laptop with an RTX 4050 at $699.
This is a historical February 2025 deal guide, not a live shopping page. Prices, stock, and retailer links were temporary and may no longer be active. The comparisons below use offers reported during the February 2025 sale period and explain which discounts represented genuine value rather than merely a large percentage off.

Best MacBook deals
M3 MacBook Air 13: the strongest mainstream Mac deal
Laptop Mag reported a 13.6-inch M3 MacBook Air with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD at $899, down from $1,099. That $200 reduction was not the biggest percentage discount in the roundup, but it was arguably the best MacBook balance for a student, office worker, or general-use buyer who wanted newer Apple silicon without paying MacBook Pro prices.

The important detail is the 16GB memory configuration. The model name alone is not enough: an 8GB version at a similar price would be a less attractive comparison for heavier multitasking. The 256GB SSD is also a constraint. It can work for documents, cloud storage, and ordinary applications, but photo libraries, video projects, games, and downloaded media can consume it quickly.
Buy it when: you want macOS, quiet portable productivity, and Apple-device integration, and your required applications run on macOS. Skip it when: you need Windows-only business, engineering, or specialist software, or you primarily play PC games.
M2 MacBook Air: worthwhile at $749–$799, depending on configuration
The M2 MacBook Air was reported at roughly $749–$799, including a $799 price against a $999 reference price in Laptop Mag’s coverage. At $749, it was the value pick for buyers who wanted a MacBook and did not need the newest generation. At $799, the decision depended heavily on memory and storage and on the price of the M3 model.
A discounted previous-generation Mac can be the better financial choice when it has equal RAM and storage and saves substantially more. But if an M3 configuration with 16GB memory was only about $100 more, the newer model offered the stronger long-term purchase case. Neither model should be described as unlimited-proof: the base 256GB storage tier remains the practical limitation for many users.
M3 MacBook Air 15: pay for screen size, not just the discount
The 15-inch M3 MacBook Air was listed at $1,099, down from $1,299—a $200, approximately 15% reduction. It made sense for buyers who wanted more workspace for spreadsheets, split-screen documents, or creative timelines without moving to a MacBook Pro.
The larger display does not automatically make it faster. Compare the memory and SSD before paying the premium, and remember that the Air’s thin design prioritizes portability and quiet everyday use rather than sustained professional workloads.
What about the M4 MacBook Pro?
Laptop Mag included an M4 MacBook Pro among its highlighted deals, but the supplied February 2025 records do not provide a confirmed price and configuration. It therefore should not be ranked against the Air deals as though a specific discount had been verified. A Pro model is appropriate when the buyer needs sustained creative work, a higher-end display, more ports, or more performance—not simply because the product name is newer.

Best Windows laptop deals
Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x: best Windows value, with an ARM warning
Tom’s Guide reported the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x at $799, down from approximately $1,199. It described the laptop as a tested and recommended Copilot+ PC. On value, it was one of the most compelling Presidents’ Day offers: a premium portable Windows machine at a price well below its stated reference price.
Copilot+ branding indicates a Windows PC designed around local AI capabilities and neural-processing hardware. That can be useful for specific supported features, but AI branding should not be the main reason to buy. The more important questions are whether the laptop meets your performance, battery, portability, and software needs.
The Yoga Slim 7x’s ARM-based Windows platform is the central caveat. Many mainstream applications can work through native versions or emulation, but buyers should verify compatibility with legacy x86 software, specialist applications, VPN clients, printer and other peripheral drivers, plugins, and anti-cheat-enabled games. Ask an employer or software vendor before buying if the laptop will be used for a required business workflow.
Dell XPS 13 Copilot+ PC: do not merge the conflicting prices
The Dell XPS 13 Copilot+ PC illustrates why deal listings need a date, retailer, and exact configuration. Laptop Mag reported $1,199, while Tom’s Guide reported $999. Those figures may reflect different retailers, configurations, or updates at different points during the sale. They should not be presented as one definitive price.

Asus Vivobook S 14 Copilot+ PC: a $799 alternative
Tom’s Guide listed the Asus Vivobook S 14 Copilot+ PC at $799, down from $1,199. It was a credible alternative to the Yoga Slim 7x for shoppers seeking a portable Windows laptop with local-AI hardware.
As with Lenovo’s ARM model, verify application and accessory compatibility before purchase. Also confirm whether the advertised configuration includes 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD; those specifications are preferable for Windows productivity, but a deal headline does not guarantee them.

HP Envy 16: the unusually cheap larger Windows option
Tom’s Guide reported an HP Envy 16 at $449, down from $849. The $400 reduction looked dramatic, but the real value depended on the exact configuration. A larger screen can be useful for schoolwork and office multitasking, yet a low price is not enough if the model has inadequate memory, a small SSD, or an older processor.

HP Spectre x360 14: premium 2-in-1 value
Laptop Mag listed the HP Spectre x360 14 at $1,199, down from $1,649. Its convertible design made it more relevant than a standard clamshell for buyers who wanted tablet-style use, pen input, or flexible presentation modes.
The discount was meaningful, but the Spectre family includes multiple configurations. Check the display resolution, processor generation, RAM, SSD, included pen, warranty, and return terms. A premium 2-in-1 is poor value if you will never use its convertible features and could buy a faster conventional laptop for less.
Best gaming laptop deal
Acer Nitro V with RTX 4050: $699
Tom’s Guide listed an Acer Nitro V with an RTX 4050 at $699, compared with $749. The nominal saving was only $50, or about 7%, but the GPU made this more significant than many larger-looking discounts on low-end machines. It was one of the notable entry-level gaming offers of the holiday period.

An RTX 4050 laptop is generally aimed at gaming at 1080p rather than driving the newest games at maximum settings on a high-resolution panel. Actual results depend on the GPU’s power limit, cooling system, processor, RAM, SSD, and display. Before buying, confirm:
- At least 16GB RAM, or whether memory can be upgraded;
- At least a 512GB SSD, because modern games quickly exhaust smaller drives;
- The display’s resolution and refresh rate;
- The processor paired with the RTX 4050;
- Whether the laptop is new or an older-generation clearance model;
- Expected fan noise, weight, and battery limitations away from the charger.
A slightly more expensive model may be better value if it includes 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, a stronger CPU, or a visibly better display. Gaming laptops also sacrifice portability, acoustics, and battery life for performance.

What the $159–$249 laptops were—and were not
Best Buy coverage from TechRadar advertised laptop deals beginning at $159, while Tom’s Guide reported offers starting at $249. These were sale-floor prices, not a guarantee that every machine in the promotion was a good general-purpose computer.
A laptop in this range can be reasonable for web browsing, email, streaming, basic school assignments, or a kiosk-style task. It is usually a poor choice for video editing, serious multitasking, gaming, large local files, or long-term use when it has only 4GB of RAM or 64GB of eMMC storage.

For Windows, aim for 8GB RAM and at least 128GB of storage where possible. Avoid a 64GB Windows machine: Windows itself, updates, applications, and temporary files can leave little usable space.
Chromebook deals: choose by support life and workload
Chromebooks can be excellent low-cost computers for Google Workspace, web applications, streaming, email, and school portals. They are not interchangeable with Windows laptops or Macs. Software that requires full desktop Windows, macOS applications, specialized drivers, or certain creative tools may not work in the same way.
For a Chromebook, verify the processor, RAM, storage, display, and the device’s ChromeOS support expiration date. Avoid choosing an old 4GB/64GB model solely because it has the lowest sticker price. A current Chromebook Plus-class system or a model with a clearly stated support horizon is generally a safer purchase for a buyer who expects to keep it for several years.

Minimum specifications
- General use: 8GB RAM minimum; 16GB preferred.
- Windows productivity: 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD are preferable.
- Gaming: 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD minimum, discrete GPU, and a high-refresh-rate screen.
- Creative work: 16GB RAM minimum; 24GB or 32GB is preferable for heavier video, 3D, or local-AI workloads.
- Chromebooks: avoid 4GB/64GB models unless the use is genuinely light and short-term.
How to judge a holiday laptop deal
- Confirm the exact processor and generation.
- Confirm RAM capacity and whether it can be upgraded.
- Confirm SSD or eMMC storage and capacity.
- Check screen size, resolution, panel type, and refresh rate where relevant.
- Identify the GPU and, for gaming laptops, its power limit if disclosed.
- Confirm whether the product is new, open-box, refurbished, or sold by a marketplace seller.
- Compare the price with another retailer; do not treat MSRP as the normal street price.
- Check return, warranty, shipping, and delivery terms.
- Verify software, VPN, driver, peripheral, and game compatibility.
- Confirm stock and the delivery date.
- Only then calculate whether the dollar saving is meaningful.
Deals to avoid
- Windows laptops with 4GB RAM unless the task is extremely light.
- Windows laptops with only 64GB of storage.
- Old Chromebooks whose support-expiry date is unclear.
- Gaming laptops with a discrete GPU but only 8GB RAM, a tiny SSD, or a poor display.
- Premium laptops whose sale price is close to a better-equipped current-generation model.
- Marketplace listings with unclear seller identity, warranty coverage, condition, or return policy.
- ARM Windows laptops for specialist work when required applications and drivers have not been tested.
- MacBooks for buyers who depend on Windows-only applications or PC gaming.
Where the February 2025 offers appeared
The reported deals came through a mix of retailer promotions and deal coverage. Best Buy offered broad cross-brand inventory, including open-box options that required separate condition checks. Lenovo promoted IdeaPad, ThinkPad, Yoga, and 2-in-1 deals. Buyers seeking current products can also compare manufacturer stores from Apple, Dell, and HP, but today’s prices are not evidence of February 2025 pricing.
Amazon, Walmart, Newegg, and Target also carry relevant laptop categories, but marketplace sellers, variant confusion, and differing warranties make exact listing verification essential. When sources disagreed—most notably on the Dell XPS 13—retain both reported prices and identify the date and configuration instead of combining them.
