This is a historical U.S. snapshot of iPhone offers available during April 2026, not a list of deals confirmed to be active today. The clearest unlocked benchmark was Apple’s iPhone 17e, starting at $599 for 256GB. Carrier promotions could cut the device cost further for eligible buyers, but typically through monthly bill credits tied to a qualifying plan and a commitment to keep the line active. The right deal depended on whether you were upgrading, switching, trading in a phone, or prioritizing an unlocked purchase.
April 2026 iPhone deals at a glance
“Best” depends on what you have to give up to get the advertised price. Apple’s direct price was the simplest comparison point; carrier offers could be cheaper on the device but harder to leave. The table summarizes the April options supported by the available dated information. Where exact eligibility or a final price was not established, it says so rather than treating a headline offer as universal.
| Best for | April option | What was documented | Main catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlocked purchase with low commitment | Apple iPhone 17e, 256GB | $599 direct from Apple; Apple Trade In estimate ranged from $35 to $695 depending on the device and condition. | Trade-in credit varies; selling privately may yield more. Confirm the checkout selection and final credit. |
| Carrier trade-in while staying two years | T-Mobile iPhone 17-series promotion | Promotions introduced April 2 advertised up to $600 or $300 with eligible trade-in and qualifying plan, paid as 24 months of bill credits. | Maximum depended on eligibility and plan. Credits are not an upfront discount. |
| Eligible new line | Separate T-Mobile new-line offer | Up to $700 or $350 under different line and plan conditions, generally over 24 months. | Not necessarily available to an existing customer upgrading the same line. |
| Budget phone with carrier financing | AT&T iPhone 17e | AT&T announced a $599 starting price; April deal coverage reported $5.99 per month for 36 months with an eligible unlimited plan. | The monthly device figure does not include the required service plan, taxes, or any other applicable fees. Verify whether the offer fits your line type. |
| Accessory purchase after recycling | Apple Earth Day promotion | April 16–May 16: 10% off selected accessories after eligible in-store recycling and a qualifying accessory purchase. | This was not an iPhone discount. Physical Apple Store transaction required. |
There is no verified single April price here for every Verizon, Best Buy, Walmart, or other retailer offer. Their offers can depend on date, activation, financing, trade-in, and customer status; later listings are not proof of an April price.

Best unlocked deal: iPhone 17e from Apple
Apple listed the iPhone 17e at $599 for 256GB and $799 for 512GB. The 256GB model was a useful baseline for buyers who wanted a new iPhone without making the purchase depend on a carrier’s future bill credits. Apple’s “connect on your own later” route was described as unlocked, so it suited buyers who wanted to choose or change service separately.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Apple also offered its own financing and trade-in options through the purchase flow. The quoted trade-in range was $35–$695, depending on the phone and its condition; it is an estimate range, not a promise that any particular device qualifies for a specific amount. Compare Apple’s offer with a private sale and with carrier trade-in terms before handing over a valuable phone. An immediate purchase-price reduction is easier to understand than credits spread over later bills, but may be smaller than a carrier’s maximum promotion.
For exact availability, financing, and trade-in terms at checkout, see Apple’s iPhone 17e purchase page. Selecting carrier financing rather than the unlocked connect-later option can bring separate carrier requirements; don’t assume every configuration has identical unlock or financing terms.
iPhone 17e versus a discounted iPhone 16
The iPhone 17e’s appeal was clear: $599 bought 256GB of storage. A secondary 2026 model guide reported a $699 iPhone 16 price, but that figure was not established as a universal April retailer price. Treat it as a comparison signal, not a guaranteed offer.

If an iPhone 16 was actually available to you for about $699, the $100 premium could be worthwhile if its camera flexibility or display features matter more to you than the 17e’s newer-generation positioning and 256GB starting storage. Check the exact model specifications and storage before comparing. A discounted older phone is not automatically the better value, and a lower advertised price can reflect a smaller storage tier or a carrier activation condition. The practical choice is the 17e for a straightforward newer budget purchase; consider the 16 when a verified price and its additional features justify the difference.
T-Mobile: strongest documented April trade-in offers
T-Mobile’s promotion details dated April 2 described offers on the iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. One trade-in promotion advertised up to $600 or $300 in bill credits, while a separate offer for a qualifying new line advertised up to $700 or $350. These were different promotions, not two discounts that every buyer could combine. Amounts depended on the chosen phone, eligible trade-in, plan, line status, and offer terms.
The cited terms describe credits generally spread across 24 months. That matters: a promotion worth up to $600 is not the same as $600 off at checkout. T-Mobile’s terms also say taxes are based on the pre-credit price, the line must remain active and in good standing, credits may take up to two billing cycles to appear, and some offers cannot be combined. Read the specific promotion details at T-Mobile’s offer page before ordering; the page may now show terms that differ from April’s.

- Dynamic Island. A magical way to interact with iPhone. A16 Bionic chip with 5-core GPU
- Advanced dual-camera system. 48MP Main | Ultra Wide. Super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP). Next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. 4X optical zoom range
- Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
This route made most sense for someone with an eligible trade-in who expected to keep the qualifying plan and line for the full credit period. It was less attractive if you might switch carriers early, had a much cheaper plan elsewhere, or could sell your old phone for more than the promotional trade-in value.

AT&T: a budget 17e offer, subject to plan terms
AT&T’s official announcement put the iPhone 17e at $599 with 256GB as its starting storage. April deal coverage reported a $5.99 monthly device payment over 36 months with an eligible unlimited plan. A low installment is not enough information to decide whether a deal is cheap: add the plan cost, applicable taxes and fees, and the cost of any required new line. Also determine whether the promotion applied to an upgrade, a new line, or both, and whether a trade-in was required for the particular offer.
Use AT&T’s iPhone 17e announcement for launch pricing and its deal listing for current terms. The April monthly figure was reported by Tom’s Guide; it should not be read as a universal $5.99 offer for every customer or as proof that the full phone cost was waived.

What about Verizon, Boost, Best Buy, and Walmart?
There were indications of substantial Verizon and retailer promotions, but the exact April model-by-model Verizon requirements were not established in the evidence available for this snapshot. That means no precise Verizon discount, plan tier, lock period, or activation fee should be treated here as verified April terms. Check Verizon’s iPhone page for the offer that applies to your account and date.
Best Buy and Walmart listings can be useful for comparing activation help, pickup, and available inventory, but a later listing does not establish an April sale price. Ask whether the device is unlocked or carrier-activated, whether financing or a new line is required, how returns work, and who administers the trade-in. See Best Buy’s iPhone deals and Walmart’s new iPhone listings for present-day inventory, not as proof of April terms.
Best choice by buyer situation
- You want an unlocked phone and flexibility: Apple’s 17e at $599 for 256GB was the clearest April baseline. Apply Apple Trade In only after comparing the estimate with other sale options.
- You have a good trade-in and will stay with T-Mobile for two years: Check the April-style promotion that matches your line and plan. Compare the actual credited amount with your phone’s resale value and the service cost.
- You are opening a line or switching: A new-line offer may be larger than an upgrade offer, but calculate the added service cost and any old-carrier payoff before switching. Do not assume an existing customer qualifies for a port-in deal.
- You want no trade-in: The AT&T 17e monthly offer was worth checking, but confirm the exact plan and line requirements. Compare the total cost against buying unlocked and keeping your existing service.
- You may leave your carrier before credits end: Prefer a direct unlocked purchase or a promotion without a long remaining-credit exposure. Leaving can stop future bill credits while leaving a device balance to pay.
- You want a Pro model: Carrier credits may narrow the device-price gap, but maximum offers often require stronger trade-in or plan eligibility. Compare the same storage tier and include service costs; the dossier does not establish a universal April Pro price.
How to calculate the real cost
Use the same time horizon for each option. For a carrier deal, calculate:
Best Value
- 6.7inch Super Retina XDR display. ProMotion technology. Always-On display. Titanium with textured matte glass back. Action button
- Dynamic Island. A magical way to interact with iPhone. A17 Pro chip with 6-core GPU
- Pro camera system. 48MP Main | Ultra Wide| Telephoto. Super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP). Next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. Up to 10x optical zoom range
- Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
- Up to 29 hours video playback. USB-C, Supports USB 3 for up to 20x faster transfers. Face ID
Total cost = device payments + taxes + activation or connection fees + added plan cost + trade-in opportunity cost − guaranteed credits − guaranteed rebates
For switching, also include any old-device payoff and credits forfeited with your previous carrier. If the new plan costs $20 more each month than the plan you would otherwise keep, that is $480 over 24 months or $720 over 36 months. That extra service cost can outweigh a large advertised device credit. If the more expensive plan is already the one you need, count only its incremental cost relative to your real alternative—not the entire plan price as though it were solely for the phone.
For an offer paid in monthly credits, inspect what happens if you cancel, change plans, pay off the device, return it, or trade it in early. Ask when credits begin, whether you initially pay the full installment, whether taxes are charged before credits, and whether activation fees apply. “$0 per month” can describe the net payment after credits while the full device installment remains on the account.

- Save a screenshot or copy of the estimate, promotion, eligible model list, and deadline.
- Check the rules for cracked glass, power, water damage, storage, and account or carrier locks. Make sure Find My is disabled when required and the device is removed from your account.
- Photograph the phone from several angles and record its IMEI or serial number before sending it.
- Follow the stated shipping or in-store deadline; keep the tracking number and delivery confirmation.
- Review the inspection result and first bills. If the credit is missing or lower than promised, contact the seller or carrier promptly with your saved evidence.
If you are still paying for your current iPhone, check whether paying it off will end remaining credits. A carrier-switch reimbursement, if offered, may have its own documentation and timing rules; do not count it until you have confirmed eligibility.
April’s Apple Earth Day offer was for accessories
Apple’s U.S. Earth Day promotion ran April 16 through May 16, 2026. At a participating physical Apple Store, recycling an eligible Apple device—including an iPhone—and buying a qualifying selected accessory in the same transaction earned 10% off that accessory. The promotion did not discount the iPhone itself. Online, app, pickup, and ship-to-home orders were excluded under the official promotion terms.
Dates and availability
These are April 2026 U.S. offers and price signals, not a claim that they remain active now. Promotions can change during a month, end early, or differ by market, account, plan, trade-in condition, and credit approval. Before checkout, confirm the exact offer date, model and storage, line type, plan, credit duration, taxes, fees, return rules, and unlocking conditions with the seller. A price shown for a later month should not be substituted for an April price.
