The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is now a previous-generation phone in the US. The best value is usually Samsung’s unlocked model with a qualifying trade-in, or a genuinely discounted open-box unit from a reputable retailer. Carrier “free phone” offers can work only when you already need the required plan and will keep it for the entire bill-credit term.
Prices and inventory can change hourly; the comparisons below reflect information checked for August 16, 2026.

There is no reliably verified, live August 16, 2026 Flip 7 carrier offer from every major US network, so old launch promotions should not be treated as current bargains.

Samsung’s US MSRP file lists the unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 7 at $1,099.99 for 256GB and $1,219.99 for 512GB. The same file lists the Flip 7 FE at $899.99 for 128GB and $959.99 for 256GB. These are MSRP baselines, not promises of today’s street price. Clearance and open-box inventory can be lower.

Best new unlocked deal: Samsung.com
Samsung is the clearest route to a factory-new, unlocked Flip 7. The buying page starts at $1,099.99 before trade-in and offers 256GB and 512GB configurations. Samsung’s offer and buying pages have shown maximum trade-in savings of up to $600 or $620 at different page refreshes. That is a ceiling for selected devices and conditions, not a standard discount.
Use the live estimator on the Samsung offers page and record the value for your exact model, storage and condition. The final credit can depend on Samsung receiving and approving the device. A cracked screen or camera glass, activation lock, incorrect model, undisclosed damage, late shipment or an ineligible financed device can reduce or invalidate it.

How to protect a Samsung trade-in
- Back up the old phone, remove accounts and disable activation locks only after confirming the backup.
- Photograph every side, the screen while powered on, and the device identifier before packing.
- Follow Samsung’s packing and deadline instructions; keep the tracking receipt and delivery confirmation.
- Do not assume an “instant” credit is final until Samsung accepts the trade-in under the stated terms.
Samsung’s direct return and support process, unlocked status and ability to switch carriers are the main reasons to accept a higher upfront price. The Flip 7 does not include a charger, so add a compatible USB-C charger if you do not already own one; Samsung states this on the 256GB product page.
Best chance at the lowest cash price: open-box or clearance
Best Buy lists a 256GB Jet Black unlocked Flip 7 in a clearance/open-box context. The exact price, grade and local stock must be checked on the live listing; a search-result price is not dependable.
Open-box checklist for a foldable
- Confirm the exact SKU is unlocked, not merely shown in an unlocked category.
- Read the condition grade and verify the retailer’s return period and warranty. Do not assume Samsung’s full manufacturer warranty applies to every open-box unit.
- Check whether the phone was previously activated, financed or reported lost. Marketplace purchases require an IMEI/blacklist check before the return window expires.
- Open and close the hinge repeatedly. Reject grinding, clicking, uneven resistance or a hinge that will not hold normal angles.
- Inspect the inner display and crease for lines, dead pixels, bubbles or touch failures, including along the fold.
- Test the cover display, cameras, flash, wireless charging, USB-C charging/data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular service and SIM/eSIM activation.
- Confirm the box contains the expected cable and that the missing charger is included in your budget.
Open-box savings should be large enough to compensate for the shorter certainty around prior use and foldable repairs. If the discount is only modest, Samsung’s new unlocked unit is usually the lower-risk purchase.
Are carrier Flip 7 deals still worth it?
Carrier promotions can lower the monthly device payment, but the phone is rarely “free” without conditions. A typical structure requires an eligible unlimited plan, a new line or upgrade, a qualifying trade-in and 24, 36 or 48 months of bill credits. Taxes, activation or upgrade fees may still be due upfront.

Calculate the real cost
Use this formula before accepting a carrier offer:
Device payments + required plan premiums + activation/upgrade fees + taxes − trade-in value − promotional credits − gift cards.
For example, compare the carrier’s total service cost over the credit period with the cost of buying an unlocked Flip 7 and keeping a cheaper plan you would otherwise choose. This is an example method, not a claim about any particular current carrier promotion.

When a carrier deal makes sense
- You already use that carrier and would keep the eligible plan for the entire credit period.
- The required plan is one you genuinely need, rather than an upgrade made only to obtain the phone.
- You understand that leaving early or downgrading can stop future credits and leave the remaining device balance due.
- You have confirmed the carrier’s lock period and the exact trade-in acceptance rules.
Frequent switchers, prepaid customers and anyone attracted only by a “$0 monthly device payment” should generally favor an unlocked purchase.
Flip 7 or Flip 8?
August 2026 deal coverage is centered on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, so Flip 7 inventory is moving into a clearance phase rather than receiving broad launch-style promotions. Compare the net price gap, not the Flip 7’s original MSRP alone.
A small saving may not compensate for buying an older generation with less remaining resale appeal and fewer available colors or storage tiers. A substantial discount can make the Flip 7 sensible if you are satisfied with its hardware and do not need the newest model. Flip 7 versus Flip 7 FE
The FE is a lower-priced member of the Flip family, not a Flip 7 at a permanent discount. The full Flip 7 has a 6.9-inch internal AMOLED display, a 4.1-inch external AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, Exynos 2500 processor, 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage. Samsung lists the charger as not included.
Choose the FE when price is the priority and you can accept a less premium design and smaller or more limited cover-screen experience. Choose the full Flip 7 when the larger outer display, higher-tier hardware or storage options are central to how you use a foldable. The FE is a poor substitute if the cover screen is the reason you want a Flip in the first place.

- New, open-box or refurbished condition.
- Return deadline, restocking rules and warranty provider.
- Trade-in value, inspection conditions and shipping deadline.
- Carrier credit duration, plan requirement and early-cancellation consequence.
- Taxes, activation fees, accessories and charger cost.
- Current stock, color and delivery date.
Verdict
- Best new unlocked buy: Samsung.com, particularly with a high-value eligible trade-in.
- Best low upfront price: Best Buy clearance or open-box, only after checking the unit and return protection.
- Best carrier option: A verified live promotion for an existing customer who will keep the qualifying plan through the entire credit term.
- Best cheaper alternative: Flip 7 FE when its smaller cover-screen experience is acceptable.
- Deal to avoid: Any “free” phone whose required plan, fees and lost credits cost more than an unlocked phone over the same period.
