Important: Best Buy’s $349 price was a genuine promotion reported on February 8, 2024—not a currently verified September 2026 deal. The price applied specifically to the 64GB Wi‑Fi version of Apple’s 10th-generation iPad. Check the live Best Buy listing for current price, stock, condition, and delivery options before buying.
The historical Best Buy prices
MacRumors reported that Best Buy discounted the four standard 10th-generation iPad configurations by $100. The promotion was available to all shoppers and did not require a My Best Buy Plus or Total membership. The listed prices were:

The promotion reportedly covered yellow, silver, pink, and blue finishes, although color availability could vary by model and inventory. The $349 headline referred to the 64GB Wi‑Fi configuration—not the cellular model, the 256GB model, or an open-box unit.

Was $349 really an “all-time low”?
MacRumors described the prices as the lowest it had tracked for these iPads at that time. Engadget also reported that the $349 price matched a record low at Best Buy and Amazon.
The precise claim is therefore: $349 matched the lowest tracked new-retail price for the 64GB Wi‑Fi model at the time. That does not prove it was the lowest price ever across every retailer, coupon, clearance listing, open-box unit, or refurbished sale.
What buyers got for $349
The 10th-generation iPad was introduced in 2022. Its main hardware includes:

The biggest compromise: 64GB storage
The $349 version is a sensible fit for streaming, browsing, email, reading, video calls, schoolwork based mostly in the cloud, light gaming, and casual note-taking. It can also work well as a shared family tablet or an inexpensive secondary device.
However, 64GB is the iPad’s entry-level capacity, and the usable amount is lower after iPadOS and preinstalled data. Apps, games, downloaded movies, photos, videos, and system data all consume local storage. Apple notes that available capacity varies with software, settings, and model.
Choose the historical $499 256GB Wi‑Fi model instead if you expect to keep the tablet for several years, download substantial media, maintain a large photo library, use creative apps, or simply do not want to manage storage regularly. It cost $150 more than the 64GB deal price but provided four times the advertised capacity.
Wi‑Fi versus cellular
At the reported sale prices, cellular connectivity added $150 to either storage tier: $499 for 64GB cellular instead of $349 for 64GB Wi‑Fi, and $649 for 256GB cellular instead of $499 for 256GB Wi‑Fi.

Cellular makes more sense for frequent travel, commuting, field work, or anyone who cannot reliably tether the iPad to a phone. Apple lists 5G and LTE support, eSIM, nano-SIM support, and GPS/GNSS on Wi‑Fi + Cellular models.
Remember that the $150 premium is only the hardware difference. Cellular service may require a separate carrier plan and recurring monthly charges. For home, school, office, and occasional travel use, Wi‑Fi is usually the better value.
Accessory costs and limitations
The iPad supports the Apple Pencil USB-C, first-generation Apple Pencil, and Magic Keyboard Folio. The first-generation Pencil requires a USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter for pairing and charging, so it does not offer the simplest accessory experience.

The USB-C connector also should not be confused with high-speed USB. Apple specifies USB 2.0 transfer speeds of up to 480Mb/s, which is a limitation for large video transfers and fast external-storage workflows.

Buy it if you can find a new unit near $349 and want an affordable general-purpose tablet. The A14 chip, modern all-screen design, USB-C, large display, and landscape camera remain suitable for everyday use.
Consider alternatives if a newer base iPad or refurbished iPad Air is available at a similar live price. A newer model may offer a faster chip, improved accessory support, or a longer likely support runway. Do not assume a specific newer model is better value without comparing its current price, storage, processor, and Pencil compatibility.
A refurbished iPad Air may provide stronger hardware for comparable money, but check battery condition, seller reputation, warranty, and return terms. Apple’s Certified Refurbished listings describe a one-year limited warranty; see the official refurbished store for current listings and prices.

Skip it if a seller is charging close to the original list price for old stock, if 64GB will clearly be inadequate, or if your use involves professional video work or fast external-drive transfers. Also avoid treating a cellular configuration as a one-time $150 upgrade without budgeting for its data plan.
Do not confuse it with the 9th-generation iPad
The same February 2024 report mentioned a 64GB Wi‑Fi 9th-generation iPad at $249.99. That model was cheaper, but it used the older design and a Lightning connector.
The 10th-generation iPad is the stronger choice when USB-C, the newer chassis, the larger display, and the landscape front camera matter. Both models having 64GB storage does not make them equivalent.

How to verify a listing before paying
- Confirm the exact storage: 64GB or 256GB.
- Confirm connectivity: Wi‑Fi or Wi‑Fi + Cellular.
- Check whether the unit is new, open-box, refurbished, clearance, or marketplace inventory.
- Verify the color-specific price and whether shipping or store pickup is available in your area.
- Review the return window and warranty.
- Budget for sales tax, a case, optional Pencil or keyboard, and—if applicable—a cellular data plan.
An indexed Best Buy product page does not by itself establish live inventory, price, condition, or shipping availability. Check the specific Best Buy SKU rather than relying on the old headline.
