Those recommendations are useful starting points, but they are not proof that every sale price is good.

Best overall deal: LG C6 OLED
The LG C6 is the leading premium-mainstream OLED to watch for Black Friday. It combines OLED’s pixel-level contrast with the gaming features buyers expect from a modern high-end set. Tom’s Guide reported a 65-inch listing at $1,799 versus $2,699 in August, but that was a dynamic retailer price—not a guaranteed Black Friday price.

Buy the C6 when its price approaches a verified recent low and the difference from the C5 is modest. Wait when the discount is mostly an inflated “was” price or when the outgoing C5 is substantially cheaper.
- Best for: movies, dark-room viewing, console gaming and buyers wanting one versatile TV.
- Strengths: OLED blacks, wide viewing angles, fast response and strong gaming potential.
- Watch-outs: bright-room performance, possible image retention from prolonged static content, and the premium charged for newer-generation hardware.
- Check before buying: exact U.S. model, HDMI 2.1 port count, 4K/120Hz support, VRR, FreeSync support and whether the advertised 165Hz mode applies to that size.
Skip it if: your room is extremely bright, you need a 75-inch-or-larger screen at the lowest possible cost, or the C5 offers the same core features for much less.
Best OLED value: LG C5 OLED
The LG C5 may become the smarter Black Friday purchase once retailers begin clearing inventory. What Hi-Fi continues to regard the outgoing C5 as attractive when heavily discounted. A previous-generation OLED is not automatically obsolete: if it has the panel performance, gaming inputs and smart features you need, the savings can matter more than modest year-over-year improvements.

Choose the C5 when the price gap is large and the C6’s improvements do not address a specific need. Compare the same size only; a 55-inch C5 price cannot be used to judge a 65-inch C6 deal.
Do not buy it solely because it is old. Confirm software support, warranty coverage, condition and whether the retailer is selling new stock rather than open-box inventory.
Best Mini-LED value: TCL C7K, QM7K or the confirmed U.S. successor
TCL’s Mini-LED range is a leading value option for shoppers who want high brightness, gaming features and a large screen without OLED pricing. What Hi-Fi and Tom’s Guide both identify TCL Mini-LED televisions as important value contenders; Tom’s Guide’s QM7L testing, however, was based on a 75-inch model, so its price and performance should not be generalized to every size.

Verify whether a listing is a C7K, QM7K, QM7L or another retailer-specific derivative. Similar names do not guarantee identical backlights, processing, speakers, ports or warranties.
Best bright-room alternatives: Hisense U7/U8, Samsung S95H/S99H and Sony BRAVIA 9 II
Bright rooms require more than a high peak-brightness claim. Look for full-screen brightness, reflection handling, viewing angle, motion processing and competent upscaling of cable and broadcast video.
The Sony BRAVIA 9 II is a premium bright-room candidate in RTINGS’ current guide. Samsung’s S95H and S99H are also worth tracking, particularly for shoppers who prefer Samsung’s interface and picture processing. Samsung’s HDR-format choices may matter to movie fans: check Dolby Vision support rather than assuming every premium TV supports every format.
Hisense U7 and U8 models can offer aggressive pricing and high brightness. Hisense’s newer UR9 RGB Mini-LED technology is also notable, but newer technology should be judged separately from independently tested, established models. Do not assume that a newer panel will have the same long-term value or processing quality as a reviewed predecessor.
Best large-screen deal: TCL or Hisense Mini-LED
At 75, 85 and 98 inches, Mini-LED and QLED televisions usually deliver more screen for the money than OLED. That makes TCL and Hisense the first places to look for a genuinely large Black Friday bargain.

Best gaming TV: LG C6 or a well-equipped TCL Mini-LED
For PS5 and Xbox Series X, look for 4K at 120Hz, variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode and at least one suitable HDMI 2.1 input. PC gamers may also need higher refresh rates, FreeSync support and sufficient HDMI bandwidth.
Check the exact model—not merely the product family—for:
- the number of HDMI 2.1 ports;
- whether all advertised ports support 4K/120Hz;
- VRR and AMD FreeSync or equivalent PC support;
- input lag and Dolby Vision gaming, if relevant;
- eARC passthrough if a soundbar or receiver will share the ports.
A TV can advertise 120Hz while still being a poor gaming purchase if it has too few high-bandwidth ports or compromises its best features at the chosen size.

Best movie TV: an OLED at the right price
OLED remains particularly compelling for films because each pixel can turn off independently, producing excellent black levels with no conventional backlight blooming. Wide viewing angles also help when the sofa is not directly in front of the screen.
Mini-LED can still be the better choice for a sunlit room or viewers who prioritize large HDR highlights. OLED’s potential image-retention or burn-in risk depends heavily on usage patterns. It is a practical consideration for people who display the same logo, news ticker, game HUD or desktop interface for long periods—not an inevitable outcome for every owner. Modern sets include mitigation features, but those features do not eliminate the need to match the technology to your habits.
Best budget TV and best TV under $500
Budget shoppers should prioritize a good panel, usable contrast, acceptable upscaling and reliable return terms over a long feature list. A cheap QLED without meaningful local dimming may not produce better HDR than a well-tuned conventional LED TV. Likewise, “gaming” language may describe a 60Hz television with no HDMI 2.1.

Use $500 as a screening threshold rather than a guarantee of quality. At that price, inspect:

- native refresh rate and actual gaming modes;
- HDR brightness and whether Dolby Vision is supported;
- number of HDMI ports;
- smart-TV speed and advertising;
- viewing angles and panel uniformity;
- manufacturer warranty and seller identity.
Retailer-exclusive models can be perfectly serviceable, but they may have no direct review equivalent. Treat a unique model number as a separate product.

Choose OLED for dark-room movies, wide seating and fast gaming response. Choose Mini-LED for a bright room, daytime sports, very large sizes or a preference to avoid OLED-specific image-retention concerns.

- Verify the model and size. Read the full model number on the product page. Retailers may mix 2025 and 2026 generations or use unique suffixes.
- Compare with the normal street price. MSRP is not a reliable baseline if the TV spends most of the year discounted.
- Check historical pricing. A “50% off” label is less meaningful than the lowest credible recent price for that exact size.
- Separate TV value from bundle value. A free soundbar, mount or gift card should not make the television’s price appear lower than it is.
- Read the conditions. Membership, store credit card, coupon, trade-in, paid shipping and installation can change the real cost.
- Identify the seller. Confirm whether the retailer itself or a marketplace partner is responsible for fulfillment, warranty handling and returns.
- Check holiday returns. Look for the exact deadline, restocking fees, oversized-item rules and whether the product must be unopened.
- Plan delivery before checkout. Inspect the box immediately and photograph damage. Keep the packaging until the return period and initial testing are complete.
Best Buy’s dynamic Black Friday listings showed OLED TVs from $699.99 after savings at the time of the dossier’s check, but that page can change price, stock and model visibility without notice. Walmart listings likewise may combine retailer inventory and marketplace offers. Use retailer pages for live prices and manufacturer pages for specifications.
Buy now or wait?
Buy now when:
- the exact TV is independently well reviewed;
- the price approaches a verified recent low;
- your preferred size is scarce;
- you need the TV before November;
- the retailer offers useful price matching or holiday price adjustment.
Wait when:
- the TV is a current flagship with only a token discount;
- the price is an ordinary sale presented as Black Friday;
- a replacement model has launched and the older model may fall further;
- the retailer has announced a later promotional window.
Do not assume the Friday after Thanksgiving is always the cheapest moment. Early-November offers can match or beat the main event, while doorbusters may have limited stock. Cyber Monday may bring a different size or retailer rather than a lower price on the exact set you want.

Retailer, warranty and installation checklist
For an expensive or oversized TV, the retailer’s service can be almost as important as the panel. Prefer an offer with a clear manufacturer warranty, dependable delivery, reasonable returns and an identifiable seller. Check whether the warranty covers panel defects, dead pixels, labor and—if relevant—burn-in. Protection plans vary widely; do not assume an extended warranty covers OLED burn-in or accidental damage without reading the exclusions.
For wall mounting, verify the television’s weight, VESA pattern, bracket capacity, wall type, cable routing and local installation coverage. Confirm eARC, HDMI passthrough and available ports before adding a soundbar or receiver.

For Black Friday 2026, start with the LG C6 and C5 for OLED, TCL’s confirmed Mini-LED models for value and large screens, and the Hisense, Samsung and Sony candidates for bright-room or premium use. The winning deal will not necessarily have the largest advertised percentage: it will have the right size, a credible price history, the features your room and devices require, and retailer terms that make delivery and returns manageable.
