Barracuda Networks announced on September 23, 2025, that Rohit Ghai would become its chief executive officer, succeeding Hatem Naguib. Ghai had most recently led RSA, leaving that CEO role effective September 15, 2025. Barracuda said his mandate would include expanding BarracudaONE, its portfolio spanning email, data, network, application protection and managed XDR.

Who is Rohit Ghai?
Ghai is an experienced cybersecurity and enterprise-technology executive. He served as RSA’s CEO from 2017 until his departure on September 15, 2025. Before RSA, he was president of EMC’s Enterprise Content Division and held executive positions at Symantec and CA Technologies.

Why Barracuda hired him
Barracuda said Ghai would help lead its next phase of expansion, with particular emphasis on BarracudaONE. The apparent fit is straightforward: Ghai has experience running a large enterprise-security company, while Barracuda wants to sell a wider set of security capabilities to customers and partners.
The move could signal greater emphasis on:
- Cross-selling multiple Barracuda product families.
- Enterprise customer growth.
- Channel partners and managed service providers.
- Combining security functions into a broader platform proposition.
These are reasonable strategic implications, not commitments that Barracuda specifically announced. The company did not disclose financial targets, acquisition plans, headcount changes or a detailed execution timetable.

The platform pitch is based on consolidation: customers can consider one vendor across several security needs, including a managed detection-and-response component. That does not necessarily mean every product is technically unified, uses one console or offers the same integrations. Buyers should verify those details for their specific environment rather than treating the BarracudaONE label as proof of full integration.
What happened to Hatem Naguib?
Naguib became Barracuda’s CEO in 2021. He joined the company as a senior vice president in 2016 and later became chief operating officer in 2018.
Barracuda credited Naguib with expanding its product portfolio and strengthening engagement with partners. The announcement said he stepped down, but it did not explain why. The available information does not establish whether he retired, joined another company, stayed with Barracuda in another role or left the industry. It would be inappropriate to describe the change as a firing or link it to performance without evidence.

RSA also changed CEOs
Ghai’s departure was part of a parallel leadership transition at RSA. RSA named Greg Nelson as CEO; Nelson had previously served as the company’s president and chief business officer.
Because Ghai left RSA on September 15 and Barracuda announced his appointment on September 23, the move should not be described as a same-day transfer directly from one company to the other.
What customers and partners should watch
Product integration
The central test for BarracudaONE will be whether it delivers practical integration, simpler administration and clearer visibility across its product categories, rather than functioning mainly as a shared marketing umbrella.

Licensing and packaging
Customers should monitor communications about bundles, renewals, packaging and licensing. The CEO announcement did not state that prices, contracts or product availability would change.
Partner strategy
Barracuda has emphasized partner engagement, so resellers and MSPs should watch for changes to partner programs, incentives, enablement and managed-security offerings.
Enterprise and managed-XDR priorities
Ghai’s enterprise-security background could support a stronger focus on larger organizations and managed detection services. That remains an analytical possibility, not a confirmed product commitment.

What the appointment means for investors and business readers
A CEO change can affect a technology company’s priorities, sales execution and allocation of resources, but the announcement alone provides limited evidence about Barracuda’s financial outlook. The most useful indicators will be measurable outcomes: customer adoption of multiple product categories, platform usage, partner activity, retention, pricing changes and evidence that BarracudaONE improves the buying or operating experience.
In short, Barracuda selected an executive with substantial enterprise-security experience to push a broader platform strategy. Whether that strategy succeeds will depend on execution, not the appointment itself.
What remains unknown
The available announcement does not provide information about Ghai’s compensation, the reason for Naguib’s departure, Barracuda’s financial performance, planned acquisitions, staffing changes, product cancellations or pricing changes.

Barracuda’s leadership page, as represented in the supplied material, does not expose a readable executive roster. Therefore, the 2025 announcement should not be used by itself to claim that Ghai remains Barracuda’s CEO at a later date.
