An unnamed Atwell couple in their 50s and 60s initially dismissed a Lotterywest Play Online alert because it said they had won but showed no prize amount. A later call from Lotterywest confirmed the pair had won $832,404 in Saturday Lotto Division One, according to a Lotterywest release published on July 2, 2024.
The alert that looked like an app problem
The woman noticed an in-app notification indicating a win, but there was no dollar figure beside it. She assumed the Lotterywest Play Online App was malfunctioning and set the alert aside rather than investigating straight away.
The available account does not establish whether there was a technical fault, a delayed display or simply an incomplete notification. What is verified is that the missing amount led her to believe the app was broken.

Lotterywest later contacted the couple and told them they had landed a Saturday Lotto Division One prize worth $832,404. That figure is their reported Division One prize; it should not be read as the entire advertised draw pool or as proof that they were the only Division One winners.

Lotterywest’s release, dated July 2, 2024, identifies the winners only as an Atwell couple. Neither the release nor the available contemporaneous coverage names them.

The couple said the money would give them more financial flexibility. Their plans included:

Their comments describe intended uses, not expenses already paid or a retirement that had already happened.
Can a Lotterywest online entry win Division One?
Yes. The Atwell win was bought through Lotterywest Play Online, demonstrating that an online entry can take the top Saturday Lotto division. Lotterywest also says online and retail tickets cost the same. The story does not show that online play improves the odds or that online players win more often than people buying tickets from retailers.
Lotterywest’s official services treat an online purchase as a virtual ticket linked to the player’s account. Players can sign in through the website or app to review entries and results, with winning numbers highlighted.

Lotterywest says Division One prizes must be claimed through its head office and are subject to a 14-day validation period. Its general claim period is 12 months from the draw date. Those current procedures are separate from the couple’s 2024 experience, which does not specify how or when their payment was received.

- Open the official Lotterywest website or app directly rather than following a link in an unexpected message.
- Sign in and check the relevant entry in your ticket or results area.
- Compare the entry with the official winning numbers and prize information.
- Contact Lotterywest on 133 777 if the result or account information remains unclear.
- Never pay a fee or provide banking details to release a supposed prize. Lotterywest warns that scammers may impersonate lottery organisations.
Online entries close shortly before the relevant draw. Lotterywest’s FAQ says online sales are disabled one minute before draw close, while the exact closing time varies by game and season.

The odds remain extremely long
Lotterywest lists the chance of winning Saturday Lotto Division One with a single game entry as 1 in 8,145,060. It says there is no skill or number-selection strategy that increases those odds. Buying online changes how an entry is stored and checked, not the underlying probability.
