Arlo customers are seeing higher bills in 2026, but that does not necessarily mean Arlo has imposed a new, across-the-board monthly price increase. The documented changes are separate: a major U.S. plan restructuring in January 2025 and a Continuous Video Recording (CVR) migration that began in April 2026. A new universal August 2026 increase is not confirmed by Arlo’s public pricing pages reviewed as of August 18, 2026.
Your higher charge could instead reflect a legacy-plan conversion, an expired promotional rate, annual renewal, taxes, prorated billing or an Arlo CVR migration.

These figures are before taxes and other account-specific charges. The monthly prices would cost $119.88 a year for the single-camera Plus plan and $239.88 a year for unlimited-camera Plus. Paying annually therefore saves about $24 a year on either Plus tier, assuming the plan and features are identical and you keep the service for the full year.

What changed in January 2025?
Arlo’s community manager said the company updated its U.S. plans and pricing on January 3, 2025. Arlo described the change as a plan restructuring that included more cloud-video storage and new or expanded AI capabilities, rather than simply a price-only adjustment.
Customers reported that some older multi-camera subscriptions moved from approximately $12.99 per month to $19.99 per month. That is roughly a 54% increase for those customers, although the plans, features and eligibility were not necessarily identical. Customer reports also described annual-plan changes, including one reported comparison between a $149.99 legacy renewal and a $215.88 annual-equivalent price.

What changed on April 1, 2026?
Arlo separately discontinued new U.S. sales of its 14-day and 30-day CVR add-ons. Existing CVR customers were scheduled to begin moving on April 1, 2026, to Arlo Secure Premium with 24/7 Recording.
According to Arlo’s support documentation, the replacement package includes Premium features, 24/7 recording for up to three cameras per location and 30 days of recording history. Customers with four or more existing single-camera CVR plans were excluded from the migration at that time.
This conversion can raise a customer’s bill even when the customer did not manually select a new subscription. It is therefore a likely explanation for some higher 2026 charges—but it is not proof that every Arlo subscriber received a new monthly price increase.

How to find out why your Arlo bill increased
- Sign in at my.arlo.com.
- Open Settings.
- Select Subscriptions.
- Record the current plan name, number of covered cameras, billing frequency and next billing date.
- Look for a CVR or continuous-recording add-on.
- Compare the account price with your renewal email and credit-card or PayPal charge.
Search your email for “Arlo Secure,” “price,” “renewal,” “subscription,” “CVR” and “24/7 Recording.” The wording of the notice can help distinguish among a price increase, plan migration, discontinued legacy plan, expired discount or ordinary renewal.

Common reasons for a higher charge
- 2025 plan restructuring: Some older multi-camera customers reported moving from $12.99 to $19.99 monthly.
- 2026 CVR migration: A legacy CVR add-on may have been replaced by Premium with 24/7 Recording.
- Expired promotion: The base price may not have changed, but a temporary discount ended.
- Annual renewal: An older annual price may have remained until the renewal date.
- Coverage change: The account may now cover unlimited cameras rather than one camera.
- Taxes or prorating: A mid-cycle plan change or local tax can make the card charge exceed the advertised price.
- Billing error: The line item may not match the plan shown in the account.
Should you keep paying monthly?
Keeping Arlo may make sense if you rely on cloud video history, AI detection, activity zones, multiple-camera coverage, professional monitoring or emergency-response features. It may also be cheaper than replacing working cameras immediately.
Before accepting a higher price, calculate the cost over the period you realistically expect to keep the system. For example, $19.99 monthly is $239.88 a year, while the listed annual equivalent of $17.99 is $215.88. The annual option saves about $24 over a year, but requires an upfront commitment and may not be attractive if you expect to replace the cameras soon.
Do not switch from a legacy or promotional plan automatically. Changing plans may permanently remove the old price or terms. Also confirm whether the annual plan is refundable or prorated in your jurisdiction and whether it includes exactly the same cameras and features.
What happens if you cancel?
Cancellation is not the same as making every camera unusable. The effect depends on the camera model, account history and local-storage setup. Basic functions such as live view or notifications may remain available, while paid features can be removed.

Features that may depend on a paid plan include:
- Video and event history
- Cloud storage
- Smart activity zones
- Person, vehicle, animal and package detection
- Custom detection and other Arlo Intelligence features
- Professional monitoring and emergency response
- Continuous recording on eligible plans
Download important clips before canceling. Confirm whether cancellation takes effect immediately or at the end of the current billing period, and save the effective cancellation date shown in your account. Do not assume that a legacy plan can be restored later.
Arlo’s trial guidance says customers can select monthly or annual paid service after a trial to retain paid features such as Video History and Activity Zones. Feature availability remains device-dependent.

Consider a different system if the recurring subscription now costs more than the remaining value of your hardware, you only need live view, you want local recording, or your older cameras have reliability and support problems.

Local-storage systems from brands such as Reolink or Eufy may appeal to buyers who want to reduce recurring fees. Wyze or Blink may suit buyers prioritizing lower-cost hardware, while Ring may appeal to households already using Amazon-connected security products. Features, fees and compatibility vary, so do not assume any alternative is definitively cheaper without comparing its current terms.
Replacing only the cameras whose paid features matter most can be a better compromise than replacing an entire system. Conversely, a bundled security plan may make sense for a new buyer who needs hardware, monitoring and service together—but it is less compelling if your existing Arlo cameras still work.
What Arlo’s terms mean for future increases
Arlo’s terms state that subscription fees and prices may change, with changes taking effect no earlier than 30 days after notice. The exact terms and their application can depend on the version of the agreement, geography and plan. Treat the notice sent for your account—not a general pricing page—as the key record for a specific increase.

Arlo’s documented January 2025 restructuring raised prices for some customers, including reports of a move from $12.99 to $19.99 per month for multi-camera service. The April 2026 CVR migration created another route to a higher bill. But the public information reviewed does not confirm a new universal August 2026 monthly increase for every Arlo subscriber.
Check my.arlo.com → Settings → Subscriptions, compare the plan with the renewal notice and download important footage before canceling. Then decide whether the annual savings justify the commitment, whether a lower-cost plan meets your needs, or whether replacing the system is worthwhile.
