The M5 iPad Pro did receive a genuine $100 price cut during U.S. Black Friday 2025 sales, with deals reported at Amazon and Best Buy. But that promotion is historical, not a currently verified offer: as of August 18, 2026, available listings do not confirm that the Black Friday deal is still live. Selected configurations were discounted, not necessarily every iPad Pro. Check the exact model and checkout price before buying.
What the Black Friday deal was—and what it was not
Apple announced the M5 iPad Pro on October 15, 2025, and it went on sale October 22. During the 2025 U.S. holiday-shopping period, deal coverage reported roughly $100 off selected 11-inch and 13-inch configurations at Amazon and Best Buy. For example, the 11-inch model was reported at about $899, down from its $999 starting price. TechRadar’s Black Friday deal report covered the promotion.
That does not mean every size, storage level, color, glass finish, or cellular version had the same price. Best Buy pages show examples involving selected 11-inch Wi‑Fi models, including 512GB and 1TB configurations, but a product page or search result can remain indexed after its promotion ends. Some later listings referenced “Black Friday in July”; that is a separate retailer event, not proof that the 2025 Black Friday deal continues.

For current listings, compare the Best Buy M5 iPad Pro results with Apple’s iPad Pro buying page. The retailer page is useful for checking stock and offers, but verify whether the item is new and sold by the retailer itself rather than a marketplace seller.

How much is $100 off worth?
Apple’s indexed U.S. store pages show starting prices of $999 for the 11-inch Wi‑Fi, 256GB model and $1,299 for the 13-inch Wi‑Fi, 256GB model. A $100 cut from those amounts works out to about 10% and 7.7%, respectively. The percentage is smaller on higher-capacity models, so compare the final price for the specific configuration you want rather than applying the headline discount to the entire range.
At a verified $899, the base 11-inch M5 is a meaningful saving on a premium tablet. A $100 reduction can also help on a 13-inch model, but it does not erase that model’s higher starting cost. For either size, the deal is most compelling if you already decided that you need an iPad Pro and the price is genuinely lower than the same configuration elsewhere.

Prices and configuration details can vary. The Apple store pages linked here show current product configurations, but indexed snapshots have not been consistent for every capacity. Treat Apple’s live checkout price and the retailer’s exact SKU as authoritative, not an old search snippet or a crossed-out reference price.
Instant savings are not the same as a gift card
A $100 instant discount lowers what you pay for the tablet at checkout. A gift-card promotion generally requires paying the listed price and gives you store credit to use later. The credit may be useful, but it is not cash back and does not reduce the amount charged for the iPad.

Apple has advertised a $100 Apple Gift Card with eligible education purchases. That offer is eligibility- and promotion-dependent; it is not a universal $100 price reduction for all shoppers. Check the terms on Apple’s 11-inch buying page before counting it as savings. Also distinguish both offers from trade-in credit, which depends on the device being traded in, and from member-only pricing.
What you get with the M5 iPad Pro
The M5 generation comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, with Wi‑Fi or Wi‑Fi + Cellular options and storage from 256GB through 2TB. Apple offers Silver and Space Black finishes, and nano-texture glass on selected configurations. Its Ultra Retina XDR display uses tandem OLED technology and includes ProMotion and True Tone. The tablet supports Apple Pencil Pro and connects over USB‑C. Apple lists Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for the M5 generation.

Memory and processor-core configurations vary with storage: Apple lists 12GB of memory and a 9-core CPU for 256GB and 512GB models, and 16GB of memory and a 10-core CPU for 1TB and 2TB models. Apple’s claims about generational performance are the company’s claims; they are not a substitute for independent tests of your particular apps and workload.

The M4 iPad Pro is the main alternative for shoppers who care more about value than owning the newest processor generation. It may have a similar form factor and display experience, while clearance pricing on M4 models can beat a $100 reduction on M5. The better buy depends on the actual price gap, configuration, and whether the new generation’s capabilities matter to you.

- Consider M5 if you need the latest generation for demanding creative, video, 3D, or AI-assisted work, want its newer wireless features, or expect to keep the tablet for years. Do not assume a particular performance gain without workload-specific evidence.
- Consider M4 if your use is mainly browsing, streaming, note-taking, drawing, or office work and you find a substantially lower price for the capacity and condition you want.
For everyday tasks, paying a large premium for M5 may not translate into a benefit you notice. Compare like with like: screen size, storage, Wi‑Fi versus cellular, warranty, and whether the model is new, refurbished, or open-box. A cheaper M4 is not a direct price comparison if it has less storage or a different condition.
Choose the size for how you will use it
11-inch: A more portable choice for travel, commuting, handheld use, and buyers who want a lower entry price. It can make sense if you already have a desktop or monitor for larger work.
13-inch: The larger canvas is useful for split-screen work, illustration, video editing, sheet music, and documents. It costs more, so do not let a $100 markdown obscure the overall price difference. If you plan to use the iPad as a laptop substitute, factor in the keyboard separately.
Before you buy, check the total cost
- Match the exact SKU. Confirm screen size, storage, Wi‑Fi or cellular, color, and standard or nano-texture glass. A discount on one model does not establish the price of another.
- Verify the seller and condition. Check whether the item is new and sold by Amazon, Best Buy, or another retailer, or by a third-party marketplace seller. Keep open-box and refurbished prices separate from new-device offers.
- Check the final checkout amount. Confirm that the reduction applies without a coupon, membership, trade-in, or other condition you do not meet. Check shipping, pickup availability, and tax as well.
- Read return and warranty terms. A low price is less useful if the return window or coverage differs from what you expect.
- Budget for accessories separately. Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard are not automatically included. A keyboard may make sense for laptop-style work; a Pencil is useful for drawing, notes, and markup. Neither is essential for everyone.
- Decide whether you need cellular. Wi‑Fi + Cellular costs more. If you can reliably tether from a phone, you may not need it.
- Be realistic about storage. The 1TB and 2TB models also have higher memory specifications, but that does not make them good value for ordinary tablet use. Buy capacity for your actual files and workflow.
AppleCare+ is another separate cost. Review the coverage and model-specific price on Apple’s iPad AppleCare+ page rather than assuming a tablet discount changes the plan price.
If the deal has disappeared
Open the retailer’s current M5 category page, search the exact model or SKU, and compare the checkout price across major U.S. sellers. Check M4 clearance offers too. If you qualify for Apple’s education promotion, compare the practical value of its gift card with an instant retailer discount. Do not treat an expired deal page, a search-result snippet, or a future event label as proof of a live offer.
