MacRumors reported all-time-low pricing on selected M5 iPad Pro configurations, including an 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi model at $899 and a 13-inch 1TB Wi‑Fi model at $1,696.91. Amazon prices, sellers, and inventory can change quickly, so check the exact listing and checkout total before buying.
The strongest value was the 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi model. However, a later February report put that same configuration at about $799.99, meaning the January price was not the lowest reported price of 2026.
Historical M5 iPad Pro deal summary
The January promotion covered selected Wi‑Fi configurations, not the entire M5 iPad Pro range. MacRumors described the 11-inch and 13-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi discounts as matching previous all-time lows, while the 13-inch 1TB Wi‑Fi model reached a new record low.

Which M5 iPad Pro was the best buy?
Best entry point: 11-inch, 256GB Wi‑Fi
At $899, the base 11-inch model was the easiest recommendation for buyers who wanted Pro hardware without paying for storage they might not use. It is compact, easier to carry, and well suited to reading, note-taking, travel, streaming, and tablet-first use.
It is especially sensible if you already own a laptop or desktop. The 256GB capacity is generally adequate for people who stream media and keep documents in cloud storage. It becomes less attractive for large video libraries, professional photo catalogs, music projects, or extensive offline files.
Best large-screen value: 13-inch, 256GB Wi‑Fi
The 13-inch model made more sense for split-screen work, drawing, visual editing, and spreadsheets. Its larger workspace can reduce the need to constantly switch between apps, but it is heavier and less comfortable to hold for long periods. It is not automatically the better choice simply because the display is larger.
Best storage discount: 13-inch, 1TB Wi‑Fi
The 13-inch 1TB model had the largest January dollar discount—$202—and was the only configuration specifically described as a new record low in that report. That does not make it the best value for everyone. The premium is justified mainly for buyers who keep large creative files, downloaded media, extensive game libraries, or professional workloads locally.

Power users: 1TB or 2TB
Higher-capacity models are worth considering for video editors, photographers, musicians, and users who expect to keep the iPad for years without relying heavily on external storage. Apple lists 16GB of memory on the 1TB and 2TB versions, compared with 12GB on the 256GB and 512GB models. The Apple Store configuration page should be checked for current specifications and prices.
A later low price changed the comparison
On February 18, 2026, 9to5Mac reported even lower Amazon pricing for several 11-inch models. The 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi version was listed at approximately $799.99, about $199 below the earlier $999 launch price. The report also cited an 11-inch 512GB model at roughly $1,000 and an 11-inch 1TB model at approximately $1,399.99.
Those were separate deals and should not be merged with the January 25 promotion. They do, however, provide an important buying benchmark: if a verified new 11-inch 256GB model is only modestly below the January $899 price, waiting may be reasonable if you do not need the tablet immediately. Apple’s price changes make “discount” harder to interpret
The launch prices announced by Apple in October 2025 were $999 for the 11-inch Wi‑Fi model and $1,299 for the 13-inch Wi‑Fi model. Those are the reference prices used in the January deal table.

Later pricing was different. On June 30, 9to5Mac reported that Apple’s current price for the 13-inch model was $1,499, while Amazon was selling the base version for $1,199.99—$300 below that then-current price. Apple’s store pages captured in the research also showed an 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi configuration at $1,199 and a 13-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi configuration at $1,499.
Therefore, always identify the comparison price and date. A discount against the 2025 launch MSRP may not equal the buyer’s savings against Apple’s current price. For current pricing, consult Apple’s iPad Pro buying page and compare the exact Amazon configuration.
What the M5 iPad Pro offers
Apple’s M5 iPad Pro comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options. It is available in Silver and Space Black and includes an Ultra Retina XDR display, Wi‑Fi 7 support through Apple’s N1 wireless chip, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

11-inch or 13-inch?
- Choose 11 inches for portability, handheld reading, travel, note-taking, and a lower total cost.
- Choose 13 inches for split-screen work, drawing, visual editing, spreadsheets, and buyers who want the iPad to serve as a primary work device.
The 13-inch model offers more working space but is less convenient as a handheld tablet. If you already have a capable laptop, the 11-inch version is often the more complementary purchase.
How much storage do you need?
- 256GB: The default choice for streaming, cloud storage, ordinary office work, browsing, and notes.
- 512GB: A sensible middle ground for large creative projects, downloaded media, and longer-term ownership.
- 1TB or 2TB: Mainly for video, photography, music production, large games, or extensive offline files.
Do not buy the 1TB model solely because it received the biggest dollar discount. The right comparison is the extra cost against the storage you will actually use.

Wi‑Fi models were the focus of the documented January deals. Cellular models cost more and are worthwhile mainly if you regularly work away from reliable Wi‑Fi and do not want to tether to a phone. Otherwise, Wi‑Fi provides the better value.

Budget for the accessories
The tablet price is only part of the cost if you intend to use the iPad Pro as a laptop substitute. Apple announced the following U.S. accessory prices:

Check these details before buying from Amazon
- Condition: Confirm that the item is new, not renewed, used, open-box, or Amazon Warehouse.
- Seller and fulfillment: Check whether it is sold by Amazon, shipped by Amazon, or offered by a marketplace seller. These are not interchangeable descriptions.
- Exact configuration: Verify screen size, storage, Wi‑Fi or cellular connectivity, glass type, color, and model number.
- Region: Make sure the device is intended for the U.S. market and is not an imported regional version.
- Checkout price: Select the configuration and confirm the final price, tax, shipping, and delivery estimate.
- Returns: Review the return window and any restocking or seller-specific conditions.
- Accessories: Confirm whether a keyboard, Pencil, charger, or case is included. Do not assume a tablet bundle contains them.
Should you buy now or wait?
Buy when
- The exact configuration is new, correctly specified, and at or below a documented historical low.
- You specifically need the Pro display, performance, or premium accessory ecosystem.
- The storage capacity matches your workflow.
- You have included the keyboard, Pencil, case, and protection in the budget.
- The price remains compelling against Apple’s current MSRP, not only an outdated launch price.
Wait when
- The listing is only slightly below Apple’s current price.
- The price applies only to a marketplace seller or questionable condition.
- You do not need the Pro display or high-end performance.
- You are considering the 11-inch 256GB model but can wait for a price near the approximately $799.99 February low.
- You mainly need a tablet for browsing, streaming, schoolwork, or light productivity; an iPad Air may offer better value.
Also consider a MacBook Air if your priority is desktop-class multitasking, conventional file management, or macOS applications. The iPad Pro is better suited to buyers who value touch input, drawing, tablet flexibility, and—on supported configurations—cellular connectivity.
Bottom line
The January 2026 Amazon promotion was real, but it was configuration-specific and is now historical. The 11-inch 256GB Wi‑Fi model was the best entry-level value at $899, the 13-inch 256GB model was the strongest large-screen option, and the 13-inch 1TB model had the largest documented January discount. But the later approximately $799.99 11-inch deal shows why readers should compare against price history rather than treat every “record low” headline as current.
Before purchasing, verify the live Amazon listing’s seller, condition, model, configuration, and checkout price—and calculate the total cost with the accessories you actually need.
