Apple did relaunch a targeted Apple Card referral promotion on September 22, 2022. Under the reported offer, a referred applicant could earn $100 in Daily Cash after opening an account by September 30 and making a purchase within seven days. The existing Apple Card customer who sent the referral received no reward. The offer expired in 2022 and is not verified as an active promotion in 2026.
How the 2022 Apple Card offer worked
The promotion was distributed to selected existing Apple Card customers by email, rather than offered as a permanent, universal referral program. According to the promotion language reproduced by iMore, the referred person had to:

- Apply through the promotional referral page.
- Open a new Apple Card account by September 30, 2022.
- Make a purchase within seven days of opening the account.
- Wait for that transaction to post before the reward was credited.
The new cardholder would receive $100 in Daily Cash. The referrer received no Daily Cash, statement credit, gift card or other reported compensation.

Most credit-card referral campaigns reward the existing cardholder who supplies the referral. Apple reversed that incentive: the existing customer did the recruiting, while the prospective customer received the money. Apple did not publicly explain the design. One reasonable interpretation is that Apple prioritized reducing the applicant’s hesitation over paying an advocate, but that is an inference rather than a documented Apple rationale.

It was Daily Cash, not unrestricted bank-account cash
The $100 was a promotional amount connected to Apple Card’s rewards system. Daily Cash normally appears in Wallet and can be transferred to an eligible Apple Cash balance. The reported terms said that an applicant without an Apple Cash card could contact Goldman Sachs to request a statement-balance credit instead.
- Daily Cash: Apple Card rewards earned from eligible purchases.
- Apple Cash: The Wallet balance used for Apple Pay and person-to-person payments.
- Statement credit: A reduction of the Apple Card balance, used as the fallback described in the promotion terms.
Important fine print
Approval was still required
A referral link did not guarantee an account. Applicants still had to pass the issuer’s credit and identity checks.

Apple Card Family accounts could be excluded
The reproduced terms excluded existing Apple Card users who merged accounts to become Co-Owners, as well as certain Co-Owners and Participants added to an Apple Card Family account. Spending by Participants or Co-Owners could not necessarily satisfy the new-account requirement.

If the purchase associated with the reward was returned, the terms allowed a $100 adjustment charge to the new account. The terms also contemplated delayed or possible re-fulfillment after another purchase. Account-status changes or suspected attempts to game the offer could delay or prevent payment.

Timing mattered
Clicking a link or submitting an application before the deadline was not enough. The account had to be opened by September 30, 2022, and a purchase had to be made within seven days and post under the promotion’s processing rules.
Who could apply for Apple Card?
Apple Card is a U.S.-only product. Apple’s current eligibility guidance generally requires an applicant to be at least 18 (depending on location), a U.S. citizen or lawful resident with a physical U.S. address, and using a supported iPhone or iPad with current software. The applicant must be signed in to an Apple Account with two-factor authentication and satisfy the issuer’s identity and credit requirements. - 2% Daily Cash when paying with Apple Pay at eligible merchants.
- 1% Daily Cash when using the physical titanium card.
- No annual, late, foreign-transaction or over-limit fees in Apple’s product positioning.
Rewards do not make borrowing free. Apple Card is a credit product with an applicable APR, and carrying a balance can cost more in interest than a $100 promotion is worth. Applying solely for a bonus was a poor strategy for anyone unable to pay the balance in full.

Is the $100 referral promotion available now?
No evidence in the current Apple materials verifies that the September 2022 offer remains active in 2026. Its account-opening deadline passed on September 30, 2022, and the offer was reported as a targeted email campaign, not a standing benefit for every Apple Card holder. Treat pages or headlines that present it as a current $100 bonus with caution.
Issuer update for current readers
At the time of the promotion, Goldman Sachs issued Apple Card. Apple announced on January 7, 2026, that Chase would become the new issuer, with a transition expected to take approximately 24 months; Mastercard was expected to remain the payment network. Apple’s support materials still identify Goldman Sachs while that transition is incomplete. This issuer change is another reason an old promotion should carry a clear date label.
Was the offer worthwhile?
For someone who already wanted Apple Card, could qualify, could make a genuine purchase within seven days and would pay the balance in full, $100 in Daily Cash was potentially attractive. It was a poor fit for anyone outside the United States, without a supported Apple device, expecting a referrer bonus, planning to return the purchase or likely to carry a balance. A reader considering Apple Card today should compare its Daily Cash structure, Apple Pay emphasis, APR and issuer transition with currently available U.S. cards rather than assuming this historical offer is still available.
The key takeaway is simple: Apple asked selected existing customers to find new applicants, but under the reported 2022 terms only the new customer received the $100 reward.
