These Apple deals were reported on October 17, 2025, and should be treated as historical unless the exact listing still shows the same price at checkout. The iPad Air and Mac mini offers were for new products, while the Apple Watch Ultra 3 discount applied primarily to Best Buy open-box inventory. The strongest value was the $499 M4 Mac mini for shoppers who already owned a monitor and peripherals; the iPad Air deal made sense mainly for buyers who specifically wanted 13 inches and 512GB.

The prices and configurations come from the original 9to5Mac/9to5Toys roundup. Shipping was described as included for the Amazon and Best Buy offers, but tax, membership requirements, carrier activation and local availability can change the final cost.
iPad Air: a large-capacity M3 model at $999.68
The headline did not describe every iPad Air. It referred to one specific configuration: a 13-inch iPad Air with an M3 chip, 512GB of storage, Wi-Fi connectivity and a Starlight finish. Amazon reportedly priced it at $999.68, approximately $250 below its $1,249 list price.

That was a meaningful discount because 512GB storage and the larger 13-inch screen substantially raise the price over the entry configuration. It was particularly relevant to users storing large photo libraries, downloaded media, creative files or numerous apps locally.

How it compares with the current iPad Air
Apple’s current buying page now identifies the M4 iPad Air as the current generation. Apple lists the 11-inch model from $749 and the 13-inch model from $949; its 512GB Wi-Fi configuration is listed at $1,049. See Apple’s current iPad Air buying page for the configuration and price shown today.
That changes the calculation. A previous-generation M3 model at $999.68 is not automatically a bargain when a current 13-inch M4 model with the same 512GB Wi-Fi capacity is priced near it. The M3 offer becomes more compelling only when the actual checkout price is materially below the current M4 equivalent, or when the buyer values the specific discounted configuration and can accept an older chip.
Who should buy it?
- Buy if: you specifically want the 13-inch screen, need 512GB, prefer a new unit and can save substantially versus the comparable M4 model.
- Compare first if: 256GB is enough, because a newer lower-capacity M4 model may offer better overall value.
- Skip if: you need macOS applications, a built-in keyboard and trackpad, or a true laptop replacement without buying additional accessories.
Also confirm that the listing is Wi-Fi rather than cellular, that Starlight is actually in stock, and that the seller is Amazon or another retailer you trust rather than an unanticipated marketplace vendor. Cellular iPads can add both purchase cost and an ongoing carrier plan.
Apple Watch Ultra 3: up to $121 off, but open-box
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 discount requires the most caution. The reported lowest price—$677.99—was for a Best Buy open-box unit in “Good” condition, not a new watch. The configuration was black titanium with a Black/Charcoal Trail Loop. Compared with the reported $799 list price, the saving was $121.01. “Excellent” units were reported at $709.99, an $89.01 saving.
Do not describe this as $120 off a new Apple Watch Ultra 3. Open-box inventory can differ by store, color, band, condition grade and quantity, and the October 2025 prices may no longer be available.

What the condition grades mean
According to the original report, Best Buy described “Excellent” units as working and looking like new, restored to factory settings, and including parts and accessories. “Good” units could have minor scratches or dents and might lack non-essential items.
The source also reported that the units carried a full one-year Apple warranty and Best Buy’s return policy, but those terms should be confirmed on the specific listing before purchase. Check the retailer’s current open-box inventory and Apple’s Apple Watch Ultra buying page rather than relying on an indexed deal page.

- Confirm the exact condition grade and photograph or description of cosmetic wear.
- Verify that the Trail Loop, charging puck and other expected accessories are included.
- Check the warranty provider and return deadline.
- Ask whether battery health is disclosed, if the listing provides that information.
- Make sure the watch has been erased and is not protected by Activation Lock.
- Confirm whether it is a cellular model and whether carrier activation or a plan is required.
- Compare the final open-box price with a new or certified-refurbished unit; a small discount may not justify the uncertainty.
This deal is best suited to buyers who specifically want the Ultra design and accept open-box hardware. Ordinary notification, workout and sleep-tracking needs may be met more economically by a standard Apple Watch or Apple Watch SE.

The Mac mini offer was for a new M4 Mac mini with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Amazon reportedly priced it at $499, down from a $599 list price—a $100 saving.
For a buyer who already owns a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers, that was the clearest value in the roundup. The M4 processor and 16GB memory provide a modern starting point for everyday macOS work, browsing, office applications, programming and many creative tasks.

The 256GB limitation
The low price comes with a 256GB internal SSD. macOS, applications and personal files can consume that capacity quickly, especially with photos, video, games or development tools. The practical choices are to buy more internal storage at checkout or use an external SSD. An external drive can reduce the upfront cost, but it adds desk clutter and requires managing files across multiple volumes.

Check the exact model’s ports and display support before buying. You will also need to budget for a display and input devices if you do not already own them. Once those costs are included, a complete MacBook Air may be a better choice for someone who needs portability, a built-in screen, battery, camera and keyboard.
Who should buy it?
- Buy if: you have the peripherals already, want a compact desktop and can work within 256GB or plan to add external storage.
- Upgrade if: you regularly handle demanding video, 3D, AI or professional workloads and need more storage or performance headroom.
- Choose a laptop instead if: you work in multiple locations or would otherwise need to purchase nearly an entire desk setup.

How to check an old deal before buying
- Match the configuration: verify screen size, chip, storage, connectivity, color and model number.
- Check condition: make sure the product is new, open-box or refurbished exactly as advertised.
- Verify the seller: distinguish retailer inventory from a marketplace seller.
- Review returns and warranty: especially for open-box watches and older-generation hardware.
- Calculate the real total: add sales tax, cellular activation, storage, accessories and any required service plan.
- Confirm stock at checkout: deal pages can remain indexed after inventory ends, and prices can vary by color or SKU.
- Save the order details: screenshot the price, condition, seller and promised accessories for short-lived promotions.
Bottom line
The $499 M4 Mac mini was the best overall value for an existing desktop setup, provided 256GB storage was manageable. The 13-inch, 512GB M3 iPad Air was a substantial historical discount, but the current M4 lineup makes the deal worthwhile only at a clear price advantage. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 offered the largest percentage-style discount only because the lowest price was open-box; condition, battery, accessories, warranty and returns matter more than the headline “$120 off.” None of the October 2025 prices should be treated as live in September 2026 without confirmation at checkout.
