AMD’s official U.S. suggested e-tailer price for the 96-core Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX is $11,699. AMD announced the launch pricing on July 17, 2025, and listed availability from July 23 through channel partners, system integrators and OEMs. That figure covers the processor only—not the workstation required to run it.
The Zen 5 chip has 96 cores, 192 threads, up to 5.4 GHz boost, 384 MB of L3 cache and a 350-watt default TDP. It is aimed at professional rendering, simulation, engineering, software builds and other workloads that can keep dozens of cores busy.
Official Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX prices
AMD’s July 17 announcement supplied U.S. suggested e-tailer prices (SEPs) for five PRO 9000 WX-Series processors. These are launch-era reference prices, not guaranteed retail or OEM workstation prices in September 2026. Taxes, regional availability, reseller margins and system configurations can change the amount you pay.

AMD previously discussed a 12-core 9945WX, but the July pricing table did not provide a confirmed SEP for that model. It should not be treated as part of the officially priced five-chip list.

At launch pricing, the approximate CPU-only cost per core ranges from about $103 for the 9955WX to $129 for the 9975WX. That calculation is a rough comparison: it ignores clock speed, memory, software scaling, licensing and the cost of the platform.
What the $11,699 9995WX includes
The 9995WX is based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture (formerly codenamed Shimada Peak). AMD lists:
- 96 cores and 192 threads
- 2.5 GHz base clock and up to 5.4 GHz boost
- 96 MB of L2 cache and 384 MB of L3 cache
- 350W default TDP
- sTR5 socket support
- Eight-channel DDR5 RDIMM memory, up to 6400 MT/s, with ECC enabled by default
- PCIe 5.0 connectivity, with up to 128 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes (148 total lanes are listed)
- Support for WRX90, TRX50 and Pro 695 chipsets

The CPU is only one line in the budget
You cannot install the 9995WX in a normal AM5 Ryzen motherboard. A practical build needs an sTR5-compatible board, appropriate firmware, DDR5 ECC RDIMM memory, a cooler rated for a 350W processor, a discrete graphics card, a high-capacity power supply, storage and a workstation chassis with serious airflow. AMD states that the thermal solution is not included and that discrete graphics are required.
The platform may also include enterprise support, validated drivers, warranty coverage and professional software certification. Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo and Supermicro were among the vendors AMD named for launch systems. An OEM workstation can therefore cost substantially more than $11,699, while providing deployment and support that a self-built system does not.
For budgeting purposes, compare the complete system cost—not just price per core. Include memory capacity, GPU requirements, storage, electricity, cooling, warranty and any application license that charges by core, socket or compute capacity.

What performance can buyers expect?
AMD says the 9995WX delivers up to 26% higher generational performance than the 96-core Threadripper PRO 7995WX, a 16% IPC uplift at fixed frequency in its workstation testing, and improvements of up to 25% in selected SPECworkstation 4.0 AI and machine-learning tests. AMD also reports up to 2.4× the performance of a cited competitive platform in Chaos V-Ray, up to 2.2× in KeyShot and up to 78% faster Adobe After Effects creation performance.

They are not independent results and should not be read as universal gains. Actual performance depends on the application, memory layout, GPU, storage and whether the software scales beyond a few dozen threads.
AMD’s product comparison page reports selected advantages over Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X, including up to 145% faster Chaos V-Ray, 118% faster KeyShot, 118% faster Corona Render and 75% faster MATLAB in AMD-selected tests. The figures apply to those particular workloads and comparisons; they do not establish that the 9995WX is 145% faster in every task.

9995WX versus the 7995WX
Both flagship chips have 96 cores and 192 threads. The 9995WX is not a core-count increase; its case is Zen 5 architecture, claimed performance improvements, memory and I/O features, and newer platform support. Moving from a 7995WX normally means replacing the motherboard and much of the workstation rather than performing a drop-in upgrade.
Existing 7995WX owners should measure queue times, simulation duration, build times and utilization in their actual software. If workloads are already GPU-bound or scale poorly beyond 32–64 cores, the replacement cost may outweigh the time saved.
9995WX versus Intel Xeon W9-3595X
Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X has 60 cores and 120 threads, compared with 96 cores and 192 threads for the 9995WX. Core count alone is not a complete performance model: frequency, architecture, memory behavior, instruction-set use, GPU acceleration and software optimization all matter. Select the platform that is validated for your applications and support requirements, rather than relying on a single vendor benchmark.

PRO versus non-Pro Threadripper 9000
The non-Pro Threadripper 9000 family targets high-end desktop and enthusiast systems and reaches 64 cores with the 9980X. It can be a better financial choice for personal rendering, video work, local development and heavy multitasking when you do not need the PRO platform’s eight-channel RDIMM memory, ECC-oriented workstation design, extensive PCIe expansion or business manageability.
The PRO premium is easier to justify when you need very large memory capacity, multiple GPUs or accelerators, high-speed storage and networking cards, validated OEM configurations, or predictable operation in a business environment. A 16-, 24- or 32-core PRO model may also deliver better value than buying 96 cores that remain idle.
Who should consider the 9995WX?
- Good fit: CPU-based 3D rendering, VFX, engineering and scientific simulation, generative design, large software builds, EDA, technical computing, virtualization and multi-GPU workstations.
- Possible fit: AI preprocessing, inference support and development where the CPU handles substantial data preparation alongside discrete accelerators.
- Poor fit: gaming, office work, light photo editing, occasional content creation, mostly GPU-bound effects and applications that use only a small number of cores.
Before buying, check ten questions: Does the primary software scale to 64–96 cores? Is the bottleneck the CPU rather than the GPU? How much RDIMM capacity and bandwidth are required? How many PCIe devices must be installed? Does ECC or PRO manageability have business value? Will faster output reduce cloud or outsourcing costs? What are the power and cooling implications? Are licenses priced per core? Is an OEM warranty worth the premium? And does the specific motherboard list the processor on its support page?

AMD did officially confirm a $11,699 U.S. launch SEP for the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX. It is a 96-core Zen 5 workstation CPU, not a complete computer and not a sensible default gaming upgrade. The purchase makes financial sense when the processor is kept busy on workloads that scale well and the resulting time savings justify the full sTR5 workstation investment. For enthusiasts or creators without PRO memory, I/O and support requirements, a non-Pro Threadripper or a lower-core PRO model may produce a better return.
