Historical M4 MacBook Air deal prices
The maximum discount applied to the 15-inch model with 24GB of memory and 512GB of storage. It did not mean every M4 MacBook Air was $223 cheaper. The prices and record-low descriptions below come from MacRumors’ May 28, 2025 deal report.

These were U.S. prices before applicable sales tax. The original report also noted that some configurations had delivery estimates extending into early or mid-June 2025.
Which M4 MacBook Air was the best deal?
- Cheapest: The 13-inch 16GB/256GB model at $867.88. It was the budget choice, but its 256GB SSD could fill quickly.
- Best overall value: The 13-inch 16GB/512GB model at $1,037.19. The extra storage made it a more practical choice for most students and professionals.
- Best large-screen option: The 15-inch 16GB/512GB model at $1,236.59 for buyers who value workspace more than portability.
- Best for heavier workloads: A 24GB/512GB configuration for virtual machines, development tools, large creative projects and extensive multitasking.
- Largest discount: The 15-inch 24GB/512GB model, which had the reported $223 reduction.
These are configuration-based recommendations, not independent benchmark results. Whether an M4 Air is still the right purchase in 2026 depends on its current price compared with newer MacBook models.

13-inch versus 15-inch MacBook Air
Apple introduced the M4 MacBook Air on March 5, 2025, with availability beginning March 12. The original U.S. starting prices were $999 for the 13-inch model and $1,199 for the 15-inch model. Apple’s specifications are available for the 13-inch model and 15-inch model.

Both models support up to 32GB of unified memory and 2TB of storage. They include MagSafe 3, two Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports and a headphone jack, but neither has built-in HDMI, USB-A or an SD card slot. Both can support up to two 6K external displays in addition to the built-in display.
What the M4 chip adds
The M4 includes a 10-core CPU, up to a 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, 120GB/s memory bandwidth and media engines supporting formats including H.264, HEVC, ProRes, ProRes RAW and AV1 decode.

GPU configurations vary, particularly on the base 13-inch model, so it is inaccurate to assume every M4 Air has identical graphics capability. Apple claimed the M4 Air could be up to twice as fast as the M1 model and up to 23 times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air; those are Apple’s own test claims, not independent benchmarks.
How much memory and storage do you need?
16GB/256GB
Suitable for browsing, office work, schoolwork, streaming and light photo editing, especially for people who use cloud storage. The limitation is capacity: applications, photos, games and video files can consume 256GB quickly.
16GB/512GB
This was the strongest balance in the reported sale. It is a sensible choice for general professionals, students, moderate development work and users who keep a meaningful local photo or document library.

The extra memory is useful for heavier multitasking, virtual machines, development environments and larger creative projects. It is headroom—not a requirement for ordinary use or Apple Intelligence.
Apple also offers configurations up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of storage, although those combinations were not part of the reported deal lineup.

- Confirm the exact configuration. Verify the screen size, memory and SSD capacity; similar retailer titles can describe different models.
- Check the seller and condition. Confirm whether the Mac is new, renewed or sold by a marketplace seller.
- Review delivery timing. A low price may not be worthwhile if you need a laptop immediately.
- Calculate the checkout total. Sales tax, shipping and location can change the final cost.
- Read the return terms. Amazon’s policies can vary by seller and condition.
- Confirm warranty eligibility. A new Mac should be eligible for standard Apple coverage; verify coverage after purchase.
- Compare current alternatives. A discounted M3 or older Air may offer better value for basic work, while a MacBook Pro is better suited to sustained professional workloads, advanced graphics, more ports or a higher-end display.
Is the M4 MacBook Air still worth considering?
The historical deal was compelling because the 13-inch 16GB/512GB configuration combined usable storage with a relatively low price, while the 15-inch 16GB/512GB model offered more screen space without moving to a MacBook Pro. However, the 2025 prices should not be treated as current or guaranteed in 2026.
Before purchasing, compare the exact M4 configuration with currently sold MacBook Air models on Apple’s store and with current retailer listings. Choose the 13-inch model for portability, the 15-inch model for workspace, 16GB/512GB for most people, and 24GB only when the workload or expected ownership period justifies the additional cost.
