Deal history: Engadget reported on March 27, 2025, that Amazon’s Big Spring Sale cut the Apple Watch Series 10 GPS, 42mm aluminum model from $399 to $299. That was a genuine $100 discount, but the promotion has ended; $299 is a historical benchmark, not a verified current Amazon price. Check the exact model, condition, seller and return terms before buying.
What was the $100 Apple Watch deal?
The offer applied to one specific configuration: the Apple Watch Series 10 with GPS, a 42mm aluminum case. Engadget reported the $299 sale price against a $399 reference price on March 27, 2025, describing it as a record-low price at the time. That does not mean every Series 10 model was $100 off or that $299 was the lowest price ever. Engadget’s March 27 deal report covers the headline offer; a contemporaneous configuration roundup recorded different prices for other versions.

If you find a Series 10 listing, compare like with like before deciding it is a bargain. Amazon search results can mix case sizes, GPS and cellular models, bands, sellers, and new or renewed stock. Check the specific selection shown at checkout, who sells and ships it, the return window, warranty coverage and delivery date. A renewed or refurbished watch is not equivalent to a new one at the same price.
What does the Series 10 offer?
Introduced in September 2024, Series 10 came in 42mm and 46mm sizes. Apple lists an S10 SiP, 64GB of storage and an always-on LTPO3 OLED display with peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. - Health and activity: ECG capability, heart-rate notifications, sleep tracking and sleep-apnea notifications are among the listed features. These functions have limitations and do not replace professional medical advice or diagnosis.
- Water-related features: The watch includes a depth gauge and water-temperature sensor. Water resistance is not the same as being waterproof; follow Apple’s stated conditions and limits.
- Battery and charging: Apple estimates up to 18 hours of normal use or up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode, and says charging to 80% takes about 30 minutes. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed real-world results; use patterns and battery condition affect runtime.
Apple lists a blood oxygen sensor in the specifications, but the Blood Oxygen app’s availability can depend on market and legal restrictions. Sleep-apnea notifications indicate possible signs that may merit medical evaluation; they are not a diagnosis, and feature availability can depend on software, region and regulatory status.

Who might find a Series 10 worthwhile?
First-time Apple Watch buyers
For someone with a compatible iPhone who wants notifications, workout tracking, safety features and sleep tracking, Series 10 offers a broad feature set. At the historical $299 price, the 42mm GPS aluminum version was a substantial discount from its $399 reference price.

Owners of substantially older watches
People upgrading from much older Apple Watch generations may have more reason to value the newer display, charging and sensors. The right choice still depends on whether those additions matter enough to justify the price of the exact listing available.
Series 8 or Series 9 owners
The upgrade is less compelling if your current watch meets your needs. Engadget’s coverage characterized Series 10 as a relatively incremental update for Series 8 and Series 9 owners; faster charging, the larger display or newer sensors may be reasons to switch, but the $100 historical discount alone does not make an upgrade necessary.
Who should skip it or compare alternatives?
- Android users: Apple Watch requires an iPhone and is not an Android-compatible smartwatch. Do not buy one expecting it to pair with an Android phone.
- Buyers who want independent connectivity: The $299 headline configuration was GPS-only. It is not a substitute for GPS + Cellular if you want supported connectivity away from your iPhone. Cellular service generally requires a separate carrier plan, so include that recurring cost in your budget.
- Shoppers seeking the newest mainline model: Apple’s comparison page lists Series 11 alongside Series 10 and newer options. Compare the current models and prices rather than treating Series 10 as Apple’s newest watch. Apple Watch comparison
- People expecting a medical device: ECG, blood oxygen, temperature and sleep-related functions have feature-specific and regional limitations. They are not substitutes for clinical diagnosis or care.
How to choose the right Series 10 configuration
GPS or GPS + Cellular
GPS is the sensible fit if you usually carry your iPhone. Cellular can suit people who want supported calls, messages or other connectivity when away from the phone, but check carrier compatibility and plan cost. Do not apply the $299 GPS price to a cellular model.

The 42mm case is smaller; 46mm gives you a larger viewing area. Choose based on wrist fit and display preference, and check Apple’s listed dimensions and wrist ranges in the technical specifications rather than assuming one size fits all.

Aluminum or titanium
The deal headline concerned aluminum, not titanium. Titanium configurations had different historical prices, and their price should be assessed separately rather than inferred from the $299 offer.
New, renewed or refurbished
Confirm condition and warranty before comparing prices. Apple’s Certified Refurbished Series 10 example showed a cellular model at $379, down from $449, when the listing was crawled about two months before August 2026; that is a dated listing, not a current quote. The cited listing included a one-year limited warranty and 14-day returns, but stock, configuration and terms can change.
Compatibility and purchase checks
Apple’s Series 10 technical specifications list an iPhone XS or later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), with iOS 18 or later. Requirements can change as software updates, so verify Apple’s current compatibility information before purchase.
- Open the exact listing and confirm it says Series 10, then check 42mm or 46mm, case material, GPS or GPS + Cellular, and included band.
- Check whether the watch is new, renewed or refurbished; identify the seller and fulfillment method, and review warranty and return terms.
- Compare the complete price with newer Apple Watch models and the Apple Watch SE if your needs are basic. Apple’s watch shopping page and SE page are starting points, not proof of a particular current price.
- If cellular matters, confirm carrier support and account for the service plan separately.
What is a sensible price benchmark now?
A new 42mm GPS aluminum Series 10 around $299 would match the headline deal’s historical price and be worth comparing seriously. That benchmark is specific to that configuration and does not verify a current listing or guarantee that it is the best buy. If the price is well above the $399 reference price, compare newer models before paying a premium for an older generation. For a lower-cost Apple Watch, compare the SE, while recognizing that it has a less advanced display and sensor package than Series 10.
